im chilling in my room and wanna watch some proper scifi/space/alien kino.
gimme your best recommendations
Recommend me scifi kino
Other urls found in this thread:
Be more specific.
Moon
2001
Solaris
That's it. Pretty much everything else is meh/crap.
>Be more specific.
what do you wanna hear?
yesterday i watched the signal thanks to that other scifi thread we had going (which was nice) but it turned out to be utter trash making zero sense. i liked the atmosphere of europa report, loved district 9 (hated the directors other movies),
moon was a bit meh, liked prometheus.
coherence was sweet
>moon was a bit meh, liked prometheus
prometheus atmosphere was THE SHIT. of course the characters act retardedly, no argument there.
For worldbuilding,
Blade Runner
Alien
The Matrix
Star Wars: A New Hope
For worldbuilding style over substance
Cloud Atlas
The Matrix Reloaded
StarWars Prequels
Alien Sequels
The Matrix Revolutions
Jupiter Ascending
Starship Troopers
>For worldbuilding,
>The Matrix
Solaris is probably the most boring sci fi movie I have ever watched
space/alien important?
>likes Prometheus and thinks Moon is meh and Solaris is the most boring movie ever
Sounds like you're just a monkey who wants some space pew pew.
I recommend Star Wars.
I never said anything about moon or Prometheus
I am not OP
>star wars
>sci fi
pick one
>thats_the_joke.jpg
A. I.
2001, you can just watch it over and over again.
No need for anything else.
the only decent sci fi is sci fi you find in books. Real sci fi just doesn't translate into film
I really liked the book but the movie was kinda meh
I was just thinking about how good Against a Dark Background and the Algebraist are.
Oblivion
Ex Machina
Minority Report
Lost in Space
Sunshine
Interstellar was good.
fifth element
dark city
12 monkeys
equilibrium
edge of tomorrow
there are really a lot,its a good genre.
Metropolis
>moon was a bit meh, liked prometheus.
Jesus Christ you have shit taste.
Fucking kill yourself.
I remember Pandorum being ok.
Also Event Horizon if you don't mind horror.
>I remember Pandorum being ok.
That's generous.
>Event Horizon
Not scifi.
Jupiter Ascending is total dogshit, don't watch it. Sup Forums tricked me into watching it and it fucking SUCKED.
I don't know what else to add.
This is what this board has become
Matrix 1, tron legacy, sunshine
You can start by removing District 9, Ex Machina and Starship Troopers?
I love Starship Troopers, but it's not good sci-fi
No it wasn't.
>tron anything
>sunshine
kys
District 9 is good, faggot. It's the only good movie that hack ever made.
It's okay.
It's certainly not great.
Those movies are overrated shit. Especially matrix.
You have to be 18 to post on Sup Forums
>Not scifi.
If you go strictly by genre, yeah, probably not.
But it's in space and has futuristic elements. So I'd say Sci-fi Horror, similar to Alien.
I'm 25.
Being old is no excuse for having shit taste.
The original Tron is only remembered for its fancy 3D graphics - The movie itself is complete piss.
the Martian
Gattaka
edge of tomorrow
frequently asked questions about time travel
the time machine (either but the original is better)
pitch black > chronicles of riddick > riddick aka pitch black harder
>I'm 25.
>Still on Sup Forums
How does it feel to have failed life?
Meh, I've settled with the notion.
I have a dream and a QT3.14, and a little bit of money, so things aren't as bad as they could be.
You'll be 25 soon too. It'll feel like just a month or two since you were 20.
Remember: You're here forever
I'm 33
>I have one foot in the grave
interstellar
splice
Jokes on you, I've got one rope around my neck
Splice ain't sci-fi, son.
My bad, misread it as Split.
Splice is indeed scifi
dark city is an oldie but good under-rated gem
This.
>1998
>old
Don't make me come over there and kick your stool over.
I know, isn't it the most pleb-defining line you've ever seen?
one sixth the age of all cinematic history
>pretty old
I think it is, yeah.
I get the feeling a woman wrote it.
Dude, you're a straight up fucking idiot who should take the very first opportunity to fucking kill yourself you faggot.
it's okay to like Interstellar. It's even more fun to compare it to 2001 and watch people lose their collective shit.
I bet you won't.
Nobody mentioned The Abyss yet?
Also 2010 is kinda cute, just not on par with 2001.
Star Trek. Almost any episode, any movie. It's all kino. DS9 is god tier
You are all shit.
Passengers
pushing 29 here
Total Recall. MARS KINO
Death Machine.
well holy shitballs a sci fi film i havent seen
downloading now thanks user
I recently saw Passengers and it was ok. I liked the topics that there was on the script, not resolved in the best way, but I found it inspiring for thinking beyond the movie.
for all the people that bitch about Star Wars being fantasy more than science fiction, lots of Star Trek is pretty much in the same category. I'm a fan of both (not prequel shit)
Starship Troopers works really well with a laugh track.
>Americans need to be told when to laugh because they're incapable of understanding verbal humour
Why are you all so retarded?
it's not meant to be blatantly funny, just an over the top satire of some elements of ultra nationalism, fascism and militarism.
Anyone that doesn't laugh at "the enemy cannot push a button, if you disable his hand" is dead inside though.
The Quiet Earth
Timecrimes
Triangle
Coherence
Sunshine
Starship Troopers
Children Of Men
Minority Report
the zero theorem
33 here too senpai
>young people have significantly fewer obligations and more opportunities for merrymaking
>somehow that's a more appropriate time to unwind on Sup Forums
You dont seem to realize this... you're here forever. If you aren't here forever then go away. You're not the right stuff for Sup Forums and never were, newfag.
>Minority Report
For some reason that just now reminded me of Equilibrium.
Brazil
WTF OP here i thought this thread had died lol thank you to everyone
>space/alien important?
well i like both scenarios but they arent a 100% must
>No it wasn't.
yes it was edgelord
series:
firefly
black mirror
utopia
anything before 9/11 is old
>anything before 9/11 is old
so you are okay with me fucking your 16 yo daughter?
Arrival
>utopia
absolute shit
but it is comparable.
Down the line I think Interstellar will have a greater impact on sci-fi cinema in general. While 2001 is arguably the better flick, Interstellar has better cinematography and a more "universal" tone - that will easily translate through time.
Sure. Shes too old for me to fuck anymore.
Why is pic related so underrated?
Name one technique that was invented to tell the story in interstellar.
>Interstellar will have a greater impact on sci-fi cinema in general.
lmao
Is Jupiter Ascending really THAT bad, or can it provide some decent entertainment if you're not actively looking to tear into its shortcomings?
not him but there is nothing redeeming about it. It is utter shit.
So you're telling me the creators of The Matrix were unable to succeed in worldbuilding, character-building, aesthetic flourish, storyline, or any other form of creative skill?
Yeah, I feel people who don't like that movie just can't relax and let the stick in their ass slide out. Such a great movie for many different reasons.
go and watch it if you don't want to believe me.
its an unholy mess of wtf, the only interesting part are Redmayne on Jupiter being a huge space fag, but even these scenes are sub par.
