It's pretty safe to assume there won't be a bloodbath. Scatalans are negotiators, not fighters. Even they probably fail to see the point in this meme independence, which will sap them of their fighting spirit every day.

I'm not educated enough of the subject to take a side, but it seems like the Spanish police is using excessive force when all that would be necessary is to just dismiss the refendum as illegal.

You don't fuck with the spanish police. Cause they will quite literally fuck you up. For me personally, as a law abiding citizen this works out great, because i feel safe knowing that any criminal will most likely have his shit handed to him if he's caught by them.

Well, their stated reason is that they get less in federal funds than they give to other regions, so those regions are net drainers for them (by the same logic New Jersey could secede from the USA because Kentucky is a leech). I don't know how true that is though. Obviously the part about them receiving less than they give is true, but the question is whether being part of Spain is a net gain for them because of the opportunities it offers compared to being independent. I've heard that independence would be a huge net loss for them (on the US example again, if New Jersey seceded its economy would contract drastically) but I haven't seen any detailed economic analysis on it, and don't know much about the economy of Spain myself.

Mostly the left here likes to throw these sort of stats out there based on federal taxes but they intentionally don't break it down into why certain states use more federal money like more retirees and military and other federal shit there, and that even in the richest states it's just a small percentage of wealthy actually paying most of the federal taxes. That Mitt Romney asshole got caught talking shit about it too.
The middle and lower class pay their taxes through sales and other taxes which winds up taking about the same overall percentage of their income.
That's why they don't make a lot of people middle class and below pay federal income taxes, they would wind up paying a much higher percentage of their income in taxes then the wealthy.

If they treat economic migrants the same way they treat Catalans, I'll be mildly impressed.
