Not him, but from a few semesters of German in college, I can see how similar your languages are. I don't see how say Platt Deutsch is closer to Bayerisch than it is to Dutch.

yes but they are not mutually interchangeable. you can maybe communicate with 3 word sentences but anything more than that is really not impossible. I don't understand why everyone thinks this, yes they share a lot of vocabulary but it's not nearly 90 percent. also the grammer is really different.
