/lbg/ - Letterboxd General

Previous thread: (Dead)

>Not sure what letterboxd is all about?
The mission of /lbg/ is to promote the idiotic discussion of film as entertainment by providing members with zero opportunities for intellectual discussion, by recognizing pleb taste through examinations and by calling out embryos McCarthy style as they arise.

>Haven't got an account? Just fuck off, the website sucks Hepatitis B!

QOOT: On a scale of 1 to Emily Jean, how amazing do you find it that Letterboxd and /lbg/ is able to exist at such an awful level?

hello

hello

hello

Don't you think it's extremely fucked up that my meme review for Don't go in the house was a huge blockbuster success whereas my meme review for don't go in the woods, made on the same day, faltered

I started rating movies lately, but I find it hard. Everything is around 3.5 to me, maybe slightly better or worse than that. Putting into words what I like and what I don't about a movie is far easier, but I think I suck at writing.
Also

What are some films that dont lose too much when watched on a laptop?

Unfriended

most films because each method of viewing cinema is a unique experience that shouldn't be denied in favour of an absolute or ideal method

watched that before on laptop it was good

probably the only film that actually gets added to by watching on smaller screen.

nah

...

The only time I've ever seen Lawrence of Arabia was on my 14 in. laptop screen

wow
that sucks

I only watch movies on my phone:^)

letterboxd.com/machill54/

>tfw fabs likes one of your reviews

kind of wish I'd left TGTBTU for next weekend, 2 Leone films in a day is heavy going. Though I can probably watch Vivo per tua morte instead which is equally as good probably

I almost exclusively watch movies on my laptop screen. Does it really matter how big the screen is? I thought it was more about the resolution.

...

watched some short films. Very nice, Very nice was very nice

If anyone would rec me some good ones i would appreciate that

letterboxd.com/FutureDays/

Very nice

...

Can we all agree this is underated as fuck?

...

are you kenny

21-87 and Very Nice, Very Nice are two of my favourite short films. You should watch some Peter Tscherkassky, his short films are kind of similar. (Outer Space is really great)

letterboxd.com/Arokz/

Should I watch La mort de Louis XIV tonight? I haven't seen any other Albert Serra film before.

Should I poop or watch movie?

The one that takes longer. So who knows...

Have you finished the first page of TSPDT?

Turbo Kid wasn't as good as I was hoping it to be, but it was okay. The Flying Luna Clipper is like nothing I've seen before, very bizarre.

I'd agree with and check out some Tscherkassky. I'd recommend some Brakhage and Maya Deren as well.

hello i liek mobies

Ah-bloo-bloo

Any other movies similar to Tati's?

>highly regarded classic film
>MY FUCKING NIGGER

If you think Tati's movies are regarded as highly as, say, Godfather, Shawshank Redemption and other famous bunch, you're a fucking cretin. How many people nowadays know his movies, even on Sup Forums?

Come on, I know Tati isn't imdb or /r/movies-core, but he's pretty well known. Who hasn't heard of Playtime?

A lot of people, sadly.
Anyways, do you know any movies similar to his, at least partially?

Tati is very unique in his style imo but you should check out
Vigo
Resnais
Godard
Truffaut
and The Red Balloon of Albert Lamorisse has a strong Tati vibe

>someone likes famous movie
>MY FUCKING NIGGER

Thank you my man, I'm just puzzled by your inclusion of Godard. Why exactly?

>someone likes famous movie
>MY FUCKING NIGGER

Are we really scoffing at someone watching a particular filmmakers work because he's "well known", are we seriously doing that now?

You're a sad individual.

MY FUCKING NIGGER

Alright, I admit that made me chuckle.

I'll give you Vigo but Resnais, Godard, and Truffaut are absolutely nothing like Tati. You might as well have thrown in Hanoun and Enard.

>i hateee doubleposting so much my faves? calling everybody a nigger :)

>i hateee doubleposting so much my faves? calling everybody a nigger :)

Can you explain why Vigo is similar to Tati?

Is it nowhere else? I'd give you a link but I don't want to be mistaken for this user.

Godard is very playful, among dozens of other things
