Brazil had a lower birth rate than the US in 2014, and just a 4% higher one in 2016, with a much higher homicide rate than the US, effectively fighting overpopulation.
Honduras has a birth rate a little under 100% more than the US with a 2000% higher murder rate, also fighting overpopulation

The infrastructre in the police system has been greatly improved, making it easier to report crimes as well as allowing the police to act more efficently. A lot of police stations have been popping up at every corner, too.
Also, i think surveillance have played a big part too. There's cameras everywhere, adn they are constantly monitored. A big issue from years ago was getting kidnapped in a taxi. They put cameras and a panic botton on the taxis and now kidnappings are almost non-existant.
I know, but burgers would use them as an example to justify having guns.

Interesting how the guy who made that pic chose to compare Honduras to Switzerland. Honduras 10 years ago had legal open/concealed carry and only recently started adding some new regulations. Even with recent restrictions, their laws are still pretty lax compared to first world countries.

It's funny how Spain itself is one of the safest countries in Europe. The Madrid region had a murder rate of 0.6 per 100,000 last year, one of the lowest of any large European city. But the colonies - holy shit. Something went badly wrong during the civilizing process.
