Living above the arctic circle

>Winters are extremely cold (not comfy-tier cold, too fucking cold)
>The sun never goes up during winters, causing depression for most of the population
>The summers are filled with extremely many huge mosquitoes
>The sun never goes down during summer, causing sleep deprivation for most of the population
Nice place to visit but holy fucking shit. What a shithole to live in. Why do the people who live there pretend to like it?

Only bad thing are the mosquitos.

>The summers are filled with extremely many huge mosquitoes
that far north? r u for real

>I love depression and sleep deprivation

Yes. There are more mosquitoes there than any other part of the country

i had no problem sleeping when the sun was up, it was a bit weird and thought its still daytime but i got sleepy after midnight

Even Tallinn is pretty crap for sunlight and day/night cycle. I immediately feel much healthier and sleep better when I go to a country that has a normal daylight cycle.

>Yes. There are more mosquitoes there than any other part of the country

Not so, but there are a lot.

What's the weather like in Stockholm? I always imagine it's nicer than the UK for some reason, like I imagine it's mild/chilly but with more clear skies

>The sun never goes up during winters, causing depression for most of the population
Why would you get depressed because it's night for a few months. Not to mention you have like 4 hours of daylight even in the darkest days.
>The sun never goes down during summer, causing sleep deprivation for most of the population
That's actually great. If you need darkness you can just pull some shades down or sleep in a room without windows.

And
>Winters are extremely cold (not comfy-tier cold, too fucking cold)
You can always throw some more clothing on yourself.

>Why do the people who live there pretend to like it?
I love it up here.
So much that I moved BACK after moving down south for a while. Fuck the south.

>Not to mention you have like 4 hours of daylight even in the darkest days.
Nope. 0 hours of daylight for much longer than a month every year

>Not to mention you have like 4 hours of daylight even in the darkest days.
No. Here in Kiruna the sun is completely gone for about 2 and a half months.
Not complaining though. I like it.

>settle in environment that's clearly hostile for humans
>complain about it

>>complain about it
Only idiots that don't belong complain. Then they start threads trying to force their own weakness on others by refusing to accept that others like it here.
It's kinda funny actually.

Oh...well fuck me.
Still not bad either way.

Don't worry. Climate change will change that.

>Climate change will change that.
Just in the beginning.
The rising temperature will most likely cause the Gulf stream to shift. We get all our hot air from the Gulf stream.
Without it, say hello to the new ice age.
Most of northern Europe will be frozen 95% of the year while southern Europe gets hotter.

He's not correct. There's a bit of twilight. Sometimes there's even moonlight to brighten your afternoon.

t. other northerner living slightly less in the north than I used to

Nah, fuck off. It doesn't make that big of a difference. You realize Alaska is 99% the same as here, and they have no gulf stream?

Cute

I live in Gällivare - Swedish Lapland.
Fit's me perfectly.
>long cold winters
>summers are not that hot
>amazing nature
>very few people from Stockholm here
>almost zero immigrants/refugees
>everything is cheap

Who gives a crap about some mosquitoes in the summer.. They ignore me anyways, have not had a bite in several years.

i feel you my man

their summers are way hotter though

Fuck the south desu.

>live in a first world country
>complains
Add to all these conditions the fact that you live in Africa-tier town and imagine life in Russia above arctic towns.

What percentage of that is covered in snow during winter?

>What percentage of that is covered in snow during winter?
100%.
We get a lot of snow up here. The lakes freeze over, the landscape turns completely white.

How is life there actually?
Are things more expensive than in the south because of transportation costs and similar?
Do you need to visit a bigger city to get some things? If so, how is the transportation like?
What about bureaucracy, would you need to go to the regional capital or do you have decentralized offices in the smaller places? I mean for things like buying and registering a car, land or starting up your own business, taxes and that sort of thing.

idk man some people dig being far away from cities and that enough to put up with the negatives

>How is life there actually?
It's pretty good. Calm and peaceful.
>Are things more expensive than in the south because of transportation costs and similar?
Nope, it's actually cheaper here. Food, housing, electricity. All cheaper.
>Do you need to visit a bigger city to get some things? If so, how is the transportation like?
No we got most of it here. Otherwise I just order it online. Takes a week.
>What about bureaucracy, would you need to go to the regional capital or do you have decentralized offices in the smaller places?
Again, we have everything we need here. No need to travel.

Nah, prices are mostly the same as everywhere else I'd say, and you can get most of everything. I guess some items may be easier to get a hold of in larger cities, naturally. Just like everywhere else. Also, Kiruna is one of the richest towns in Sweden, seen to wages and such.

The nearest thing you might call a proper city is Luleå however, on the coast. Some people go there every once in a while. 3-4 hours by car or train.

>richest towns in Sweden
That's because most of us either works in the mine, any job dealing with the mine or with tourists.
All jobs that pay extremely well.
