The Entity. That movie was out of this world.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
it's brutal because it's plausible. you see Nightmare on Elm Street or Alien or something, it's no big deal, that could never ever happen to you. but being impaled on a meat hook? that's possible

>Texas Chainsaw Massacre

legit kino

1968, close enough.

Also recommended.

Anyone remember this?

This was actually good. The remake was ridiculously bad.

Fun movie

Is this the bleakest "mainstream" horror Film ever made?

It killed a toddler and had no fucks to give.

Don't Look Now
Let's Scare Jessica to Death
Suspiria
Black Christmas
The Omen
Rituals
The Sentinel
Possession
Prince of Darkness
Alice, Sweet Alice
The Stone Tape
Spoorloos/The Vanishing

Ask John landis

Overrated as fuck.

From Beyond
Maniac
Combat Shock
The Town that Dreaded Sundown
Silent Night Deadly Night
Street Trash
Dead Alive
The Funhouse
Night of the Demons

killing a kid would be bleak if it wasn't immediately followed by the laughably cliched "NOOOOOOOOOO" moment.

The whole movie is goofy as fuck, their neighbor is Herman Munster and two characters get visited by a comic relief corpse.

The only spooky part is the wife's flashback even then its ruined by those shitty child extras at the end.

Sorry that was meant for that user

Assuming you've seen all these, but if you haven't, they're all at least 9/10.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
Carnosaur
Xtro
Alien
Leviathan
Jacob's Ladder
House
The Blob
I felt Xtro was more bleak. The child becomes corrupted.

It was the 80's man. Realism wasn't their thing.

No

Raw Meat (A.K.A. Deathline)

Yes, it's literally a meme movie. I undestand why it is on the pedestal, but actually reccomending it to people is fucking obscene.

Day of The Dead is an actually well made movie, though.

What the fuck are you on about? It's not a 'meme' movie, whatever is your stupid definition for that.
And really, what a horrible crime to recommend to someone( not that it would be even needed for who already delves in the genre) one of the greatest horror films, right?

>one of the greatest horror films, right?

Compared to Night and Day it's borderline unwatchable.

The Legend of Hell House

Last house on the left, Wes Cravens debut is pretty depraved

The book by Richard Matheson is great too, so few good haunted house movies
