Something with no ending
And a story that goes nowhere

But is it good?

It is good user. Ignore FPWP.

At worst it's a little portentous, but I think the film justifies itself.

cheap melodrama and self-pity

A great movie.

Also extremely cozy, though maybe that's just because I love northern towns.

>let's go to Boston
>I DONT WANNA!!!
>okay
The end

A neorealist version of The Tree of Life

>And a story that goes nowhere
Back to your capeshit, pleb.

Guys, please, stop using the word if you really don't know what it means

Slow, heavy and boring melodrama that goes nowhere. The opposite of entertainment.

A 7/10 family drama. Nothing like the masterpiece it was shilled as.

Affleck's one-note performance quickly becomes irritating, and there's not nearly enough of Michelle Williams. But it's competently done, and at least it's not capeshit, starshit or swordshit.

You're in for great, comfy sadkino. You'll probably relate more if you're a little older (not teens).

That is exactly what that word means turbofag.

...

Slow pacing poorly written, average film.

>The opposite of entertainment.
Maybe they should have added some shiny, foot-tapping musical numbers, just for you.

You are the reason why Hollywood makes such shit movies.

That scene is laughably bad.

amazon shill pls go the award season is over

What's bad about it? Please explain yourself.

This thread is an excellent highlight of how poor the board has become since capeshit took over.

/thread

The editing is terrible, looks like made by an spastic

It's not nearly as good as you are hyping yourself up thinking it will be

MbtS is in no way pretentious.
Nor technically or cinematographically or writing wise. Is a really straightforward story with no bulls hit.
There's no monolouges, no particularly artistry shots, even the emotionall core of the movie is conveyed by really simple dialogues.
>You just can't die
>There's nothing there.
All is extremely well done but literally nothing is fancy in this movie.
So you don't know what pretentious mean

He said portentous. Buy a dictionary.

Jesus Christ, kill yourself. How embarrassing

The joke about keeping the father's corpse inside the car, top kek.

Besides that average film.

All right, my bad

The slow build up to the "twist" followed by that "emotion" scene was just poorly done. I don't remember that movie too well since I saw it a while ago in the theater maybe I'll give it another chance.

>falling for it

all good

>t'was merely a ruse, gents

>I-I'm not a complete waste of human skin. I was just making a joke, I-I swear!
NO. SHUT THE FUCK UP.

I've gotten drunk and watched this movie every night for like four days because it allows me to pick at my emotional scabs.

The best film of 2016 and one of the best male performances in a decade

>Kenneth Lonergan
>"poorly written"

sure thing buddy

Exaggerations

(You)

It is badly edited, yes, but the acting is terrific, and the writing is good.

Nope.

A great film that somehow dodged so many bullets

>first Matt Damon wanted to direct it with fucking John Krasinski as the lead
>then Lonergan wrote the script and Matt Damon was the lead
>Matt Damon loved the part but couldn't fit it in his schedule and he didn't want to give it to anybody but Casey, Damon became the producer
>the narrative was meant to be linear in the first draft of the script, no flashbacks

If only Lonergan didn't use the overused adagio in g minor as the temp track for the police department scene and it would be a literal 10/10

how would you feel if you're michelle williams and they cut out your kino scene?

Should've kept this scene, would've really added to how the whole town thought so poorly of him

A scene with giant jailbait tits.

Why the hell would they have removed these?

needed more pre fire scenes without them the tragedy just seems contrived

because they don't want michelle williams to win an oscar

good call on Lonergan deleting all those scenes, they add not much to the narrative/characters and the inbetween Patrick would just confuse the audience

was jb girl trying to get dp or f the uncle?

Watched it buzzed thought it was ok, until " that scene", when he left to go get more beer and the end result.

What does Casey say after the funeral?

>set movie in Manchester
>suddenly it's right by the ocean
>everyone talks in a shitty american accent without even trying to be British

what is this garbage

good scene

This was the most genuinely funny movie in years, funnier than any comedy I've seen recently. All the little day to day tasks which most screewriters completely ignore are here used almost as a comic relief

And it doesn't even break the tone inbetween all the heavy drama, fit's perfectly with it all

damn, she's grown

Seems like an improvement, la.

Not exactly, it's not bad but it's not good either.
It's sits around the mediocre mark because it's half baked

>it's half baked
Why?

A few wasted hours you'll never get back.

I have already watched it 5 times now. Love it more with every rewatch.

Most well deserved oscars for the original screenplay and performance ever.

do you ever feel like ending your life, OP?

Because this film might push you over that edge.
