Viceuropa universalis 2

Victoria II

It's... interesting but I struggle to use the word "game" to describe it.

It's an alternate reality simulation game with historical basis.

I just started playing it, and compared to first Victoria it seems to be very difficult for secondary powers. In previous game you could at least build a big army in the reserve in case a war with bigger country would happen. Now you cant do much about size of your mobilisation poll, so basically, you re fucked.

Newfoundland is the most homogenous province, especially linguistically. It's far more British than most of Canada, not sure why it's part of Quebec. Hell, it was still part of Britain up until 1949

It's an alternate reality political spreadsheet simulator with historical basis.

It's the oldest English settlement in North America, St. John's was founded in queen Elizabeth the firsts time.

It reminds me a lot of Superpowers 2 where there are thousands and thousands of options you can change and customize and shit, but very little of it actually affects gameplay and doing anything of substance like invading a country or improving diplomatic treaties is an exercise in tedium

This.

Newfoundlanders would never accept the rule of Quebec, tensions with the province is high between the two provinces.

>Newfoundland
>Quebec

Are you retarded?

It's also the landing place of the first European explorers to NA.

Suck a dick, Columbus.

I never understood why Americans celebrate him so much, he just discovered some Caribbean Islands who cares?

Final Fantasy

I have similar experience with Victoria II. At the begginning it seemed incredibly complicated. Now I just move some sliders to balance the budget, promote craftsmen to build industry and dont even bother to deal with trade, because AI handles it pretty well. And diplomacy is mostly increasing relations with neighbours and praying the big guy wont randomly decide to fuck you up.
>be Netherlands
>conquer Belgium
>join big powers
>have +200 relations and alliance with Prussia and GB
>France decides to attack me
>I would expect Prussia to join me in effort to stop France from gaining more power
>no, fuck me, Prussia breaks the alliance and declares war against Netherlands week later
>literally: fuck you, secondary power- the game

>not playing Hearts of Iron 4

>Relying on stronger nations to prop you up

Honestly, I think I prefer the level of control you have in something like Medieval Total War 2. Where the emphasis in diplomacy and city-management is only on major decisions, treaties, and policies, and the meat of the control is on troop deployments and management in battle.

FUCK OFF SPIC

HOI 4 is garbage, a toddler randomly clicking could win half the time, the other half of the time they would accidentally exit the game. The axis is nerfed so badly I was able to solo Germany, Italy, and Spain while playing as France and I suck at grand strategy games.

You say axis is nerfed? That actually sounds interesting, because in previous HoI games playing as Germany wasnt much of a challange.

It still isn't a challenge, it is just that the German and Japanese AI is retarded, Germany still has its normal advantages.

I prefer to use the HPM mod with it. Makes it more historically accurate but with enough room for change to keep it fun.

>German AI is retarded
Sounds realistic to me

>Virginia
>CSA
I am ok with this.
When do we implement it?

It looks shit ATM. Hopefully some patches and DLCs will fix it up.

I thought it was Justin?

Justin wasn't born in the 1800's that's the stupidest joke I ever heard in my life i don't know why you didn't kill yourself already

Make the Confederate states the Black Nation of Islam. Combine USA and USC. Cut off Mexico a little higher than the map does. There. Perfect.

2ez

>not this

wew

>not playing Darkest Hour

>american education

>Newfoundland a part of Quebec
Lol fuck no user.

I've never had this problem.

In the 100+ hours I have, I've only seen Germany fail to take mainland Europe once, and it was because Italy created their own faction instead of siding with the Germans.

It's pretty fun, I think the AI will get better and the game more fleshed out when DLC is dropped for it. It's much more fun playing as smaller nations in HoI4 than in previous games.

>playing as Belgium
>rush infantry equipment, artillery tech, and RADAR
>fuck tanks, trucks, and boats, we don't need that shit
>fortify the German and Dutch borders, the Dutch are useless
>Germany goes full conquest, Holland lasts a full 3 days
>my 18 infantry divisions slay hundreds of thousands of Germans
>have to redeploy half of my divisions to prevent France from surrendering when Nationalist Spain enters the war
>America shows up in '42 and cleans house

Playing as a smaller nation with a specific goal can be super fun, I just wish there were more National Focuses for smaller nations, or alternate branches for alternate history play.

Like, becoming the Communist States of America has its own flags and leader, but you still become "the Great Arsenal of Democracy"

It's fucking bullshit. I want fleshed out alternate options.

>Not being a GP after taking Belgium
>Not fortifying all your borders and slaughter hundreds of thousands of Frenchmen who try to cross the border
>Not having a superior navy to sink all French ships and blockade their ports
>Not counterattacking after they have wasted their armies and force them. to cede the rightful Dutch clay of French Flanders by taking Paris by storm

It's like you don't even want to win
