French was the dominant language of Europe during several centuries (XII to XV with a resurgence in the XVII), however after the Brit expansion, its dominance started to fade and for a while both English and French were the lingua franca.
Fast forward to the rise of USA as a economical and political force, decolonization and the fact that Americans successfully made the dollar "de facto" currency of the world forcing several business to be held in English or using it somehow damaged even more the international usage of French
French is still seem as a prestigious language but in Europe for example it's fallen in usage to even German
Time to make it the lingua franca
Debout!
Vive la France!
