When did, in your opinion, everything went to shit?

When did, in your opinion, everything went to shit?

I think it was after 9/11.

2008

there is none. the change is gradual, and WILL NEVER have a certain tipping point. In fact, only after it is shit has it been revealed it is shit

when you finally took off the blinders that obscured your vision. That is when the world you knew, the wonderland of happiness and prosperity revealed itself for the lie it was. There is no peace. There is no happiness. There is only the fleeting panic and suffering between birth and death user

I disagree. I think most people used to be happy, upbeat and optimistic during the 90s. After 9/11, media and govts. around the world used fear, uncertainty and doubt to make everyone paranoid and pessimistic.

well, america collectively losing it's mind and making every terrible decision it could after that certainly didn't help.

Partition.

When the jews fucked with the money.

>you will never have a 33 cent cheeseburger

9/11 was an inflection point and it's gone downhill since there.

>two wasteful wars
>mass surveillance
>erosion of civil liberties and expansion of government power
>destabilization of middle east and north africa, leading to current migrant crisis
>climate of paranoia and uncertainty
>2008 recession
>bank bailouts and corporate welfare
>deteriorating race relations
>militarization of police
>expansion of the nanny state
>political polarization and the death of compromise
>stagnant wages and a drop in purchasing power
>nuclear proliferation among rogue states
>the fourth Indiana Jones movie
>deteriorating foreign relations and a loss of diplomatic capital
>Rise of Islamic terrorism and global jihad

It wasn't all beer and pretzels before, but the past 15 years have been marked by steady decline.

Columbine brought us up to the tipping point, and 9/11 pushed us past it.

The worst part about all this is that we can't go back to the way things were.

9/11 really was the tipping point. Before that we were riding on the post-Soviet high and everything was optimistic. Then the war on terror, mass immigration and social media happened. Now we're staring into the abyss and are about to be drawn down into it.

Nope it was all going to shit after the 1980's, at least for Europe.

9/11 was a wake up call.

For you it never really stopped being shit ever since you gained independence.

Optimistic my ass, the 90's were the single most depressive and nihilistic decade there was. Just look at the trends, clothing and music like grunge. Even cartoons were fucked up like Ren and Stimpy.
