Wenger is elite at making the club profit, people meme about the top four trophy but the fact that Wenger managed to consistently achieve a top four finish for over 20 years (half of which were after Arsenal had moved stadium and they had to become a selling club to pay off their denbts) is impressive. It's why the Arsenal board love him, because he lines their pockets while the owner just sits their and does nothing.

I'm not even talking about net spending (Chelsea's net spending is not that high due to their loan army and their capacity of selling their old players to China for a lot of money), but expending by itself.
To be fair, it's not like Arsenal is much poorer or generate lower amount of revenue than any top clubs except both Manchesters. If he refuses to spend, then that's no wonder that it's gonna be tough to achieve good results with shit players. Their squad is always full of deadwood who just aren't good enough for a top side and world class players they have are unmotivated as fuck since he stopped giving fuck about contracts. That being said, even with present squad as it is, he often makes bizarre team selection decisions.

I doubt it, ticket money is only a fraction of the revenue these days, if anything Arsenal jumped the gun and built their fancy stadium too early which was further compounded by Stank Kroenke becoming the majority shareholder, who has even come out publicly and said he didn't buy Arsenal to win trophies, all he cares about is the profit, he takes a few million pounds here and there for "consultation work".
But needless to say it's not really Arsenal's fault, they couldn't have predicted just how fast the money in football would skyrocket, now you even have teams like Crystal Palace that can afford to fully redevelop their stadium, when 7 years ago they were going into administration.

The problem is for a club like Arsenal is that for a very long time the fans felt like they were still a "proper" club where the fans mattered and that they achieved things by their own hard work. Now they are realising it was always about ownership, and instead of getting an owner who puts the investment in to grow the club like Abramovich, they got scummy owners that want to bleed the club for as long as possible, the hardest thing for them to accept is they are no different to Chelsea but Chelsea got the better owner.
