Speaking at the 2000 U.N. The earth has been generally cooling for thousands of years and CO2 levels have been diminishing for at least 100 million years. Temperatures on average are cooler than on average over the last 3K, 5K and 10k years, from the Medieval Climate Optimum (when Greenland was green, Iceland populous, and Southern Argentina temperate), the Roman warming, the Minoan Warming, the Holocene optimum, and other epochs believed to have been free of the influence of the Koch brothers.
The modest increase in CO2 over the last few decades (roughly 2 tenths of one per cent) has chiefly stimulated plant growth (for example in rain forests and third world agriculture). Because photosynthesis evolved during eons of hugely higher CO2 levels, plant growth is constrained by inadequate CO2.
Except for nuclear, alternative energy sources are far more destructive to the environment than are fossil fuels, which per watt use far less of scarce planetary surface area than do wind and solar. Anyone who believes in global warming as a grave threat that justifies drastic policy change reveals either lamentable gullibility or tendentious socialist aims. Thus the left is full of climate cranks and weather bores.

There's no proof human-induced climate change is the reason for the ice caps melting. The earth has gone through several melting and ice ages depending on tectonic and volcanic activity.
However, there is proof that human-induced climate change has caused surface radiation levels to rise which also increases cancer risk-rate.
