Avatar discussion

can we talk about the world of avatar?

what did you think about the original show? what about the movie? I mean was the movie all that bad (its not like we care about whitewashing in here) and what about korra? was it a mistake to make korra be set so far in to the future where they had cars and airplanes and shit? and does the the im a 'lesbian suddenly' arc in the last part of the show turn you off from the show and taint the earlier seasons?

I don't say this often, but:

Korra sucked so much dick, you have to be gay if you enjoyed it

Sup Forums is positive about eveything and this was not an anime and wasnt cute and nice like cartoons. it did air in tv so i wanna know what Sup Forums thinks

youtu.be/bmKaQqinWKY

I remember watching some Korra at my friends house and getting a horrible star wars prequel vibe from it
>stilted animation
>way too much political babel
>three comic relief characters in the main cast
>"cutsey" kid characters
>aesthetic that makes no sense
Granted I didn't watch much, but I kind of don't want to now, that said, the first avatar arc was pure kino, way better then the rest of the show.

Stop shilling your videos you pandering parrot cuck.

After rewatching, Korra is better than ATLA.

>chinktoons
>>fuck off weeb

im glad this shit bombed. kids don't want to see homoshit, and adults shouldn't be watching cartoons.

it was mostly political stuff.. the bad boring kind and relationship drama.. idk wtf they were thinking

bullshit. how?

>four fucking seasons
>bombed
lmao dude

Jesus christ, the people involved in the movie were so fucking miscasted...
Also, i really Korra, but everything that had to do with the forced romance with Mako was so fucking horrible to get through in the first seasons.

Loved ATLA
Loved TLA
Hated TLOK

I need a second fucking movie, hurry the fuck up M Night. I want to see Ba Sing Sa god dammit.

I didn't finish Korra... dropped it on season 2 when she broke the avatar mode.

I could have accepted the setting and her homosexuality easily but the show was just boring. None of the characters had the charm of the first cast, their conflicts felt utterly unimportant and their attitudes toward them felt shallow and lacking when compared to Toph or Zuko.
And the fights... the bending fights where utterly uninspired. Aang and co. always had to think how to creatively use their bending.
The whole arena thing was ridiculous and how come society advanced that much in like... 70 years?

Honestly had she been gay from the go the series would probably have been a tad more interesting... provided that the character had to deal with self discovery issues and whatnot but till season 2 it all felt like filler with uninteresting characters and plot.

It suffers too much from the relationship garbage. None of it makes sense and the actual teens, that are almost adults, act like kids, where as the kids in TLA were more like teens.
Only highlight is the fight animation. Everything else ruins the mythos of TLA.

Before I saw Korra and after I saw both TLA and its horrid movie, I was thinking Hollywood should reboot the franchise with Korra, then follow it up with a new, proper version of TLA, acting sort of like a prequel. Then I finally saw Korra.

Fuck that.

I like the porn.

>i really Korra
what exactly did you like about it? they didnt even really tell us what happened with aang and the old crew straight up

>stop meme your videos you meme meme meme

What did the ledditor mean by this?

>I could have accepted the setting and her homosexuality easily but the show was just boring.

She's bi though.

can we just retcon everything after the last season of the original show?

All Sup Forums does is shit on this show.

>Everything else ruins the mythos of TLA.
like what? only thing that comes to mind is how they ruined m fav ATLA episode about bloodbending

ATLA is GOAT

TLA wasted Dev Patel on a shitty movie

Korra is garbage

>turning the avatar into some leech-monster servant

Not that user, but in my opinion it ruins all of the world building with the Capital City bullshit.

It feels anachronic to see how they somewhat despise monarchy in the Earth Kingdom, also all that nation identity is lost.

Its like they inserted an "actual" view of the world in the setting

Some people argue that Legend of Korra is better because it deals with more mature topics. And they dismiss the overwhelming drama as simply "They're teens lol. What do you expect?"

One minor issue that sets up why I dislike it is that statue of Aang. It goes against what he wants in life and what he believes in.

And no I'm not E;R nor am I parroting his comments on it.

>Stop posting relevant content that you found entertaining on this website
>It's obvious that if you found this entertaining the only logical explanation is that you are the person who created the video in the first place.

THIS

The first season of Korra was great. ATLA is still my favorite show of all time however. Never did watch Korra beyond season 1.

i fee like what i liked about avatar is the world exploring and even though korra had more seasons they only went to like few places and stayed mostly in republic city or whatever and kinda ruined toph by takin out the mystery or what she's been up to and had her have some stupid drama with her sister or something

It's unimportant unless some form of conflict is attached to her orientation or situation.

If they are gonna include romance they could at least make it so it's dramatically relevant.

If it's not important for the plot or for the character development then why bother? it's just inconsequential. Her whole relationship with Mako was like that...

Sure, I'm down.

There's a comic that is based on a universe where everything that happened in TLA show and movie happened, but not when the movie contradicts the show which gets priority canon, if that makes sense.

Loved TLA?
Really??

anime for people with shit taste in anime

I can't even ironically support this

I'm with you 100%

>One minor issue that sets up why I dislike it is that statue of Aang. It goes against what he wants in life and what he believes in.
Who cares. It's not like Aang necessarily commissioned the statue. Aang did just save the world, so statue makers might have thought he earned a big statue.

I finished it and enjoyed it, but the only part that I hated (other than the stupid fucking giant robot shit, horrible idea for a season) was the end where she magically is into Asami more than just as a pal. Like they didn't set that shit up at all, sure you see them hang out a few times but there is never really any vibe that suggests it was anything more. I don't care about the lesbian angle I just wish they would have laid the ground work a little better because there was no pay off to them being together.

The retarded retcon of making the origin of all of the elements belong to the turtles instead of the moon, dragons and shit.

>The M Night Shyamalan is bad meme

Found the normalfags.

>bombed

you know when you are on Sup Forums and see a thread about people with shit taste?

thats what I get from this thread.

>all the good shows you could watch and you pick AVATAR

kill yourself.

Shyamalan knows how to make a movie when its on his own terms. Even when he liked the source material (like on this one) it doesn't work too well.

they were pandering to tumblr and twitter cuz the fans shipped them

>I need squinty eyed actors to enjoy a movie

go fuck yourself you racist asshole

What's a good show you'd recommend then? Game of Plebs?

No. I suggest Breaking Pleb.

how about a show called "get some taste in anime"

Shame that they felt the need to shove it in :/ I would have been perfectly happy if they built it from the start.

More like, the Walking Pleb.

who said we picked avatar out of everything? this is just a thread about avatar. all your japanese and Chinese authentic anime is fucking cringe worthy with pedo vibes and weird asian mannerisms/dialogue that us normal western folks find weird

i mean i didnt hate the movie.. it was cool to see the world in real life and you cant blame M night for the shitty kid actors

fine, enjoy your shitty animation, art, and pandering lesbians

we cant all have taste

>WAAA SHIT TASTE
Dude, if discussion of this triggers you so much, you can add a filter blocking all discussion of "avatar" from ever reaching your eyes again.

Avatar is fantastic and Korra is almost as good. I watched both series back to back the first time and didn't notice a massive drop in quality. It's literally just more of the same, and I enjoyed some parts of Korra more than some parts of Avatar.

>It's another fa/tv/irgin has nothing better to do then status-signal about why he has better taste then a stranger.

>I enjoyed some parts of Korra more than some parts of Avatar.
i like to hear what parts you liked in korra more than avatar

Korra only works because she has massive tits and a big ass. Other than that the show is pure trash.

who is triggered

im just wondering how people can like a terrible show

Some of the animation is nicer. Sometimes. The porn is better, too

>this wasn't an accurate rendition of Avatar Aang

You're god damn retarded

Avatar isn't even an anime, it's a western cartoon, and it's better than shit like Adventure Time or Steven Universe.

Korra has less filler and is more engaging. Season 1 of Avatar was a drag to get through the first time and I really couldn't understand what was supposed to be so great about the show at that point, so I enjoyed pretty much most of Korra more than season 1 of Avatar.

That kid was boring, Aang is supposed to be fun.

The original show is one of the greatest television shows produced in the last twenty years and everyone should watch it, even people who think animation is only for children.

Korra is a disappointing mess.

The live action movie was absolute fucking dogshit.

>better than adventure time

wow, better than a show that caters to stoners

amazing

He looked like Aang, but that's where it stops.

Wtf was wrong with the movie? I enjoyed it. Wasn't anything special but it was still a decent movie. I don't give a single fuck about the shitty cast.

>wow, better than a show that caters to stoners
Name a better cartoon then Adventure Time or Avatar.

It wasn't the kids fault, it was shamylan's. Just look up any interview with the kid during production, he is literally the closest thing to Aang you could find in the real world.

Season 3 is better in Korra than any other season.

Gravity Falls

>name a better show than adventure time or avatar

now I know im arguing with a california stoner/hippie

tLoK had Avatar Wan and those two episodes plus Zaheer made it worth it for me.

>Korra has less filler
>entire episodes about a retarded fucking love triangle that nobody gave a shit about
Couldn't get past season 1of that shit, and now I hear there's a forced lesbian agenda I'll never bother picking it up again.

>The first season of this show was great, so I better stop watching

>and does the the im a 'lesbian suddenly' arc in the last part of the show turn you off from the show and taint the earlier seasons?

It was blown entirely out of proportion. It's revealed when she did write while recovering it was exclusively to Asami.

Then they go on vacation together and leave holding hands.

The lesbian undertones are so minor and brief that only a Sup Forumstard could become triggered.

>now I know im arguing with a california stoner/hippie
wrong on all counts, but let's just say I am. NOT AN ARGUMENT.

i watched the last airbender cartoon and it was great
a really nice well crafted story with enjoyable standalone episodes and well thought out plot arcs, each character developing fluidly and satisfyingly, all drawing together to a decent if slightly weak conclusion
all in all it was great

i never watched the movie
i never watched korra
i will never watch the movie
i will never watch korra

i am happy with my choices and from what i can tell everything will just get shitty if i change my mind

>then
Retard with shit opinions

>The first movie in this trilogy with insanely unpopular sequels is good, so I better let the first movie live on in positive memory.
Makes enough sense to me.

you think avatar and adventure time are great shows

arguing is pointless cause you dont realize how shit your taste is

it's like telling a cara fan that she's a terrible actress, they wont admit it

>young boy finds out everyone he has ever known was killed
>you want him to be cheerful and laugh the entire movie

Anons, that was not the tone of the movie. It was a far too young avatar dealing with the loss of his people while being faced with the extermination of his new friends and their family, while being the only one who could possibly save them. You might not know what stress is, but he was being crushed by it.

...

Gotta get back
Back to the Past

>arguing is pointless cause you dont realize how shit your taste is
I think Avatar is a great show. I don't actually like Adventure Time very much, but if you think you know a better animated show, then Avatar, I'm all ears.

I have a special brand of autism. I know there is only a finite amount of Avatar content I will ever consume, so when I do it has to be absolutely perfect. I have to be in the perfect emotional state, the perfect setting, the landline must be off the hook and my cell phone must be face down so I can see in my peripheral that the battery is out. I also can't have consumed any other media in the past 2 days or so, which is difficult for me.

Except that we're talking about a four season show where season 3 is often considered the best and on par with the original show, with season 4 also being mostly regarded as good. Season 2 does get some hate, but that's mostly because the first six episodes were kinda slow and the villain was kinda lame, but it had some of the best individual episodes of the show.

>It's another "I've finally found a way to travel back in time-- oops, I guess not" episode
>It's another "I've finally found a gem that will grant any wish I desire episode--- oops, I guess not" episode
After Episode 3, it feels like every episode needs to have a "OMG the series could literally reach it's conclusion THIS VERY EPISODE" tease.

Except they cant do that this season because its the last season and theres only 10 episodes

>Ignoring the art, story, animation, music, humor and voice acting that made the show great

youtube.com/watch?v=ppSzERE1r4I

How does it feel to be a pleb?

Also, the first 3 episodes do not follow that structure at all.

>Also, the first 3 episodes do not follow that structure at all.
You're right. It's almost like I said AFTER EPISODE 3, but then i'm assuming that I'm talking to someone with reading comprehension which clearly does not include the Samurai Jack fanbase

I know it is technically an anime, but is it kino?

>shitting on the samurai jack fanbase
what the FUCK is your problem?

TV show Aang dealt with that sometimes, but he was a fun kid most of the time.

I'm sure there are plenty of smart Sam-Jack fans. I just found a good opportunity to make a really snarky post, which Sup Forums is known for. Don't take it so personally bro.
