Arrival

>Arrival
>Interstellar
>Passengers
>The Martian

I haven't watched anything for the past few years but I recently sat down and watched those.

I'm kind of scratching my sci-fi itch, is there any other recent stuff from the past 4 years that I might have missed?

How far back?

Gravity, GotG, Oblivion and SW: TFA.

you might like Another Earth

Ex Machina

As far back as Gravity, but looking for straight sci-fi.

I'll check out Oblivion though, don't know how I missed it.

Haven't heard of this, I'll add it to the list

Ex Machine was pretty kino, good recommendation.

L I F E

Life is a meme.

Europa Report

Midnight Special

Nah, save your time and money on superior sci-fi.

Her (2013)
Turbo Kid (2015)
Star Trek into Darkness (2013)
Parasyte: Part 1 (2014)
I Origins (2014)
The Signal (2014)
Europa Report (2013)

Prometheus

Nice suggestions famalams. It's nice to see that sci-if is maturing a bit more. Proper representation of physics, theoretical principles are being depicted as accurately as they can.

Space colonisation is my genre fetish, we're starting to see more and more of it.

"Gravity" maybe

I did kind of the same thing and watched Arrival, Ex Machina, and 10 Cloverfield Lane over a few days. I would definitely recommend Ex Machina. 10 Cloverfield Lane was okay but not necessarily up there with the other two.

Oh yeah, and what about the newer Planet of the Apes movies? You should definitely give them a try if you haven't seen them already.

Edge of Tomorrow.

Prometheus. and get ready for alien cov.

Moon.

Moon

...

Europa Report is one of those films I judge people on. If they dislike it I feel their opinion is shitty and they need to fuck off.

Moon

It wasnt bad, but it wasn't good. Generic sci-fi "tension" movie and they all get eaten by the octopus. Pretty standard.

it was pretty average

Check out Black Mirror if you haven't

There essentially mini movies with a couple being feature length

I should clarify, people who say its dry and boring can go fuck themselves. The type of people who unironically say "I fucking love science fiction" because they watched Interstellar and the Star Trek films.

>>Arrival
>>Interstellar
>>Passengers
>>The Martian
Is this a list of recent terrible "sci-fi" movies.

I fucking love science fiction. Interstellar was amazing and Nolan is the greatest director ever!

It's funny because I have the same system, only I use it to find out if people are idiots or not; if they thought Europa Report was anything more than mediocre badly-written SyFy level trash then my test is concluded.

Definitely check out Oblivion

It's all we've got recently. It's not that bad, there are some good concepts at play in some of those but it feels like almost every sci-fi film is always missing something, hollow and half finished.

>Every film needs to be a masterpiece
>If its not perfect, people are not allowed to like it
If you're a pedo you'd be the most basic Sup Forums bitch.

Sunshine

The ending is kinda dumb but the rest of the film is pure sci-fi kino.

Sunshine is something you put on to show off a good TV screen, its otherwise worthless.

Fuck you

Edge of Tomorrow

Oblivion
Edge of Tomorrow

Gravity

Can you rank those movies for me please. Just curious

Inetstellar was good for the visuals alone

>do I fit in yet guise xDDD

>Passengers
>The Martian
>Arrival
>Interstellar

Top to bottom, weakest to strongest.

>Arrival
>The Martian
>Intersteller
>Dog shit
>Passengers
Fixed.

Passengers could have been so good.

Flash Gordon bra

this

It would have been far better if the girl had never forgiven him.

It needed to be darker, most of the film had a dark tone then you had that disney princess ending shoved in.

It had cheesy acting

Not just that but all the plot holes. Fuck, it was so comfy for the first year until it tried to develop that joke of a situational disaster.
