where am i?

>being such a brainlet you can't learn or research how to do a simple task

First for post ye're desktops.

Dual booting is very straight forward, not even messing with you.

roddy doyle hates ireland and insults the heroes of the rising and the war of independence by attributing to them his own vulgar notions
i picked up one of his books for one of my classes and it's probably the most pointlessly vulgar things ive ever read
main character literally fucks every woman in the book
>i'm leader of a flying column now, i need to train these lads to kill the brits
>haha also i fucked all their sisters, their mammies and their wives
it adds nothing to the plot and i'm pretty sure he only does it for shock value
terrible writer

But why should I bother.

Another day. I've been wanting to change wallpapers but I haven't decided on any yet.

so you can not use microsoft spyware but still play video games if you want

>why should I bother
Because it's better desu, and freedoms!
Like saying "why should I bother getting off Internet Explorer?".
Anyone with the knowledge would at least suggest trying it out.

>image
I quite like that one, even if it is ancient anime.

>Because it's better desu, and freedoms!
You need to give me more concrete reasons than that.

>need to give me more concrete reasons than that
Freedom is a pretty concrete reason in this day and age. Was all our ancestors needed to fight for centuries.
Nothing stopping you trying it, won't take you long and shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
Do you dislike trying new internet/techie things?

>I quite like that one
It was one I was strongly considering using the last time I decided to change wallpapers. I guess it's back in the running now.

>even if it is ancient anime
>not wanting to have a pure time

Me on the right, doing the contemplating.

>Do you dislike trying new internet/techie things?
No, but I only do so if they fulfill a need.

>right, contemplating
Graf looks like she is contemplating, Prinz looks like she is stalking.

>only do so if they fulfill a need
Does moving from IE to Chrome fulfil a need?

>Was all our ancestors needed to fight for centuries
I thought it was their burning hatred for foreigners?

Graf looks more like "we got a call from the principal today".
Prinz is off in her own world imagining things.

>Does moving from IE to Chrome fulfil a need?
Yes. Certain extensions I want can only be got for Chrome and I prefer the Chrome UI.

because foreigners hate irish freedom ofc

Are you one of those people that take an awful lot of convincing and pulling in order to get you to do something?

Yes, but that's besides the point. I just don't tend to do things unless I have a reason to do them.

mine's shit desu
cropped to fit filesize regulations

You still haven't said what specifically Linux offers over Windows.

>cropped to fit filesize
>not just saving as .jpg

>want to set up a dual boot with Win7 and GNU/Linux
>most forms of GNU/Linux refuse to send a signal to the monitor when I'm trying to install them
>the one that does (Debian) can't reach 1920x1080 no matter what I do
Are there any distros that work well with Nvidia hardware?

>desktop
That's pretty good... Jaggy?
Feel like the task bar is a bit bright but it's very nice otherwise.
Background is pretty calming. I do actually like landscapes, night-time city ones especially. So I don't only like solid colour ones.
>flux
>discord
>virtualisation
>isos
>df
Lot of good taste desu. Used to use qBittorrent but it gave me issues whilst tethering my phone.

>Jaggy?
no
>Feel like the task bar is a bit bright but it's very nice otherwise.
Yeah, I tried fiddling with it a bit in Windows 7 themes but other themes I tried don't work very well.
>Lot of good taste desu
Go raibh maith agat.

Windows 95 is the only OS you'll ever need.

>here any distros that work well with Nvidia hardware
Everything works fine for me with nVidia, and does it matter if the Debian installer can't reach 1080?
Try connecting via HDMI or something to your TV or a different monitor?
Not sure what the issue is exactly
>most forms of GNU/Linux
Sometimes I find flashing the iso doesn't work right the first time or I have to use a different stick.

Going to Russia tomorrow. Don't know how to feel.

>not XP
Go and stay go.

>no
College lad....?

Correct. What gave it away?

was a reply to

>that's besides the point
Is it though?
>just don't tend to do things unless I have a reason to do them
You won't understand the reasons unless you find them out yourself.
Be a bit adventurous desu. Could try running it in a virtual machine if you wanted, so you don't mess with anything.

>What gave it away
You post that Satania image quite a lot and most of the other anime posters aren't tech literate enough to use a number of the applications you have, as far as I'm aware at least.
You're in your first year of college, CS or Engineering was it?
Doubt many people are able to use or have heard of virtualisation after only a few months in college.

>I do actually like landscapes. So I don't only like solid colour ones.
I do too but I also like having a character or something as a focal point.

>night-time city ones especially
My opinion of you has risen dramatically.

>You post that Satania image quite a lot
Come to think of it, I do. I could use some more variety in my anime reaction images.
>You're in your first year of college, CS or Engineering was it?
indeed, CS
>Doubt many people are able to use or have heard of virtualisation after only a few months in college.
Really? It's pretty simple, I did a bit of it before I started college. I guess I have always been a bit more tech savvy than most though.

>It's pretty simple
Indeed, but I guess most people probably just haven't heard about it or the concept of "computers within computers" sounds difficult to them initially and it turns them off.
You also post Dangan right?

I suppose that's fair enough. I'd imagine it's mostly people who are at least tech literate enough to want to try out alternative operating systems who'd get interested in VMs for personal use.
>You also post Dangan right?
Aye.

Sky satellite is still busted and I can't get the RTÉ player going.
Was Claire Byrne good tonight lads? Be honest.

>Aye
Still only on chapter five. Strange coincidence that the three most techie people here (that I know of) all play Dangan.

>Was Claire Byrne good tonight lads? Be honest.
No.

>No
You're not lying are you...? You did watch it?
You're not one of those Pat Kenny cultists, right?

Sure I watched it. Mattie McGrath was on, again. And a woman in the audience got angry amount something irrelevant. And the boom mic kept dropping into frame.

3/10.

>boom mic kept dropping into frame
Could be worse, Pat Kenny could have been in frame and on mic for the whole show.
>Mattie McGrath
What were they on about? Abortion?

>What were they on about? Abortion?
No, Mattie was complaining about hospitals and old people or something. I wasn't fully paying attention. Claire Byrne kept cutting him off. Very rude desu.

Seems TV3 player works fine for me. RTÉ really is just shite.

>Claire Byrne kept cutting him off
Couldn't have been any worse that Matt Cooper though, the Rí of cutting people off to spout his own political viewpoints.

What political presenters or shows do you like, while on the topic?
Prime Time I'm guessing, and that Crime Call rubbish.

>and that Crime Call rubbish.
That hardly a political show, user.

>hardly a political show
True, my bad.
>user
Rude.

When are the Frog and Poi going to finally fuck and get it over with?

>feeling tired
>want to stay up to watch something
>eat to get some energy
>show ends
>too much energy to go to sleep

Oíche mhaith.

We were only having a discussion Billy Bob. Two people having a discussion is not the height of human love and caring.
Are you the same Yank that's always on here gagging for an Irish bf and Froggy?

>Two people having a discussion is not the height of human love and caring
Then what is? Glove sharing?

>Glove sharing
No, but you're getting there.
Sock sharing on the other hand is actually know to be a form of insult, as your feet are considered in some cultures to be dirtiest part of one's body.

>No, but you're getting there
Wearing a scarf together? Swapping jackets? Dare I say, hand holding?

>Sock sharing on the other hand is actually know to be a form of insult, as your feet are considered in some cultures to be dirtiest part of one's body
Non-Irish cultures do not matter. And besides, if one's feet are really so dirty then wouldn't it be a good gift for something to cover them?

>Are you the same Yank that's always on here gagging for an Irish bf and Froggy?
God no.

>dat Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, SH2&3, FO1
Didn't mean to intrude, irefags, but image related.

BUT SINCE THIS IS APPARENTLY /GINT/ ANYWAY

I had Ubuntu dualbooted for years and I never used it, even though I was SSH'ing into my school's Unix servers almost every day for homework. I'm taking a C and Unix course now and I still think Cygwin is better than dualbooting Linux.

But that was back in like 2012. Things might have changed. Here's what made it not worth it for me:
>fucking drivers
>no gaymen
>update everything manually
>Something about Flash was fucky I think, idk.

Cygwin, on the other hand:
>keep all your windows shit the way you like it
>only do linux shit when you want to
>shell scripts to automate windows tasks? whaaaaaat
