Will chinese language ever become more popular than english worldwide?

I dont think so, chinese is a lot harder to learn than english also it takes more time.
I have read that the original chinese language was made complicated on purpose to not let peasants be able of write and read.

TIL I'm a peasant

Chinese is much less complicated than English.

not really, chinese is not seen as a literary language until much later, it was first used as fortune telling, then keeping history then bureaucratic tallying, not ease of usage, but it was never meant to rule certain people out

because spoken chinese is not like written chinese learners have to invest in a lot of time, something peasants don't normally have, plus money for books and so on, there are numerous stories of families using everything they have to provide money for education and can rise from lowly peasant to mandarin class but the investment is tremendous
