Before anyone asks, she was bound to go, she had cancer, but she didn't even seem in pain, just suddenly started seizing and then convulsed in my living room, it was pretty terrible, she was so sweet and I didn't expect her to just croak like that.

I agree with what you say, but there are plenty of stray unloved animals in shelters that get put down if they don't get adopted. It's good to grieve and cherish the memories of a furry friend, but why not remember a pet through a good deed?
