Fatal Frame(s)
Shrek
This. The first fatal frame was one of the few games that truly had me on the edge. I play it blind and it was a tense experience because of the scace resources, imprevisible ghosts and the creepy and tight house. I also liked 2 and 3 a lot, but the one that scared me the most was this first one.
Doom 3 had the best jumpscares
Siren, and the Obscure games were both pretty spooky
gotta ponder that. Special mention to Raveholm in Half Life 2, gives me chills to this very day.
Have me huge anxiety back in the day, really fucking creepy
Heather's game
This game was ruined by the fucking robots. It was actually a relief to be finally killed by the alien instead.
Casual
Resident evil 7 biohazard
:(
Quake as a child was intense.
P.T. ...
Amnesia: Dark Descent
is Doom 3 actually considered a scary game? Always just thought Doom series were just intense action shooting
It has its moments
Scrolled thread for clocktower, didn't see clocktower.
Clocktower.
Fear was damn jumpscary though
might check it out then maybe
thanks bro
I would recommend the original version (not BFG Edition). In the original cut you have to decide if you want your flashlight out, or a gun. They changed it so you can have both, killing atmosphere for "convenience". Because you know, pushing one button is too hard.
Ticky off the ground
There's 2 games that have tied for making me almost shit my pants and they are similar in ways.
>RE7
The first time I played this was at about 3 on a cold autumn night. Something about being chased gives me a thrill. The part where the father is coming after you in the garage had me screaming like a little girl.
>Clock Tower 3
Holy fuck. I said games where you get chased seems to spook me the most. This game is all about getting chased by boogie men. I remember sipping mt dew all night while playing this and I was having a blast.
I have no mouth and I must scream
honestly outlast 2 had me scared to the point my mind wouldn't work and i was stuck hidden somewhere, never was able to finish it even tho i really like horror, idk what happened to me
VISAGE didn't even finish the game yet
They edited some of the more grim and disturbing parts Harlan Ellison was a madman for the short story alone but this
game is unsettling as all hell desu
anything markaplier plays. im so glad we got a youtuber like him to play them
Fucking excellent environment design in that. Scared me shitless.
fatal frame and silent hill 1 as a fucking 6 to 9 year old... ugh
When I was probably around 12, The Suffering freaked me the fuck out. I loved that game. Torque was a goddamn badass.
When you turn around in the attic and the mannequins have moved I fuckin noped right out.
mAh nig, clocktowah
This looks like a Sierra engine game, what is?
Yeah they're both very different, you could even say it's a different story from the short story. Originally Harlan wanted to have the soft jelly thing ending as the official and only ending of the game, but Cyberdreams wanted a good one, so they just added both. (bad one only triggers if you fuck up)
Hmmm...So he was behind of that?...
Me finally playing Half life 2 in 2012
>okay that part sucked what's next?
>this is a legendary game, it must get better
>okay that part sucked what's next?
okay that part was boring what's next?
>okay that part sucked what's next?
>game ends
fuuuuuuu
Ravenholm was the most memorable part though. But it also seemed like a shitty pastiche
I thought doom 2 was scary when i was a child. I remember when resident evil first came out that was pretty creepy for its time.
haha yea
I played this game at the same time that I was reading House of Leaves and I think I actually started going insane.
I stopped playing the game and reading the book. Still haven't finished either
Fuck me how did I forget DS.
Blows resident evil mini puzzles out of the water.
>Clock tower 3
What? The game was goofy as fuck. The plot was literally...
>Japanese school girl becomes a judge from heaven and kills her pirate looking grandpa.
Even the first chaser/boss has an overly big sledgehammer and big fucking shoes, and don't get me started on the scissor twins lmao
Someone help...two games. One was a game where you could only tell the evil was there by using your camera to take pictures and checking the screen.
Next game is a very static fuzzy game where you must travel through the eyes of your enemies so your character can sneak around them.
Neither game may be US release.
Do u know that stuff when u play the monsters screams in reverse?
Yes. Fear 2 didn't even hold a candle to it.
How fricken often did you just end up going AHHH CHRISTTTT and shooting your rifle empty kek
Henry knows his shit
Recently, RE: 2 Remake, but not the entire game. Just the part where Mr. X starts pursuing you through the police station. Made me anxious as fuck and opening a door and seeing him standing like 3 feet away from you is pretty horrifying.
RE HD remaster is atmospherically pretty damn scary, too.
>Next game is a very static fuzzy game where you must travel through the eyes of your enemies so your character can sneak around them.
Ummmm, siren blood curse?
RE 3 when you enter the police station. ESPECIALLY when you glimpse the licker through a window to the next room and you spend 20 minutes psyching up to open that door.
Great cutscene
First one I think u talking about project zero (fatal frame in America)
>RE 3
That'd be RE2, bub.
Legit almost shit myself cause of this game, first playthrough. Lights ingame are flickering as I go down a hallway, I think it was a sewer, lights go out for a couple seconds then back on and Alma is standing in front of me. At that exact moment my power goes out. Jump scare from hell, grabbed my machete and a glow stick and was standing in the corner of my room for 30 min till the power came back on. 11/10 game I miss it and its awesome multiplayer.
what?
>RE 3
>Licker
I remember the brown spider shits but lickers? Call me a retard but I don't think RE3 has any licker.
Yes, please take this happy boi
Ravenholm monters screams in reverse have u heard it?
no i didn't know that
brb looking it up
Guess it's RE2. I was the young. My bad fellas
Lavender town. OooOOOoo
Yes! You guys are great!
who names their dog Boomer?
Luigi's mansion
Could never finish it
RE3 had those weird brain sucker bugs, kind of close.
It's ok, fren. Going back and playing those games now is actually kind of funny. A lot of the stuff in the original RE 2 just makes me laugh now. The giant spiders are so fucking cheesy and the background screens are so bright. Everything is so well-lit, even the sewers are lit up like you're in a Wal-Mart or something.
That game not only spooked me but I was alone playing it indoors for days when it was dark and rainy
>What's the scariest game you ever played?
Life, man.
Maybe the pharoh hottie from darkwing duck works better?
I've heard the new Blair Witch game is pretty spoopy.
Now that's one crazy motherfucker
Only horror game that actually made me alt-f4.
I had played all the penumbra games beforehand and thought I was ready for Amnesia, but I quit during that water portion on the night of release.
The bad visual angles that they borrowed from the original SH games still make for a timeless paranoid style gameplay however.
Fuck I forgot penumbra
I did, it was really tedious, but worth it. Stupid story logic, but worth it.
>even the sewers are lit up like you're in a Wal-Mart or something.
kek
Pathologic 2 leaves me feeling drained and hopeless.
I remember this part
These thing from silent hill. Omg
also
opinions on puppet combo style games, or Nun Massacre
These things gave me nightmares
The weird twitchy, bad VHS tape way the shit moves is the same reason everyone hates spiders.
Once upon a Time graphics were shit and things had to be scary by design.
Just that image is scary.
Outlast
Well, I mean Resident Evil came out way before Silent Hill. Resident Evil stole the whole camera angle thing from a PC game called Alone in the Dark.
No biohazard was Westernized way before silent Hill.
But, if we agree to disagree on that one tell me about this alone in the dark
Yep. Try not to shit your pants when looking at pic related, it's truly terrifying.
This was my first horror game I owned
the game's atmosphere/tension is unsettling
but some dont like the whole scare aspect of it
>biohazard was Westernized way before silent Hill
RE2 is Aliens in many ways.
It came out in the early-90's on PC. Basically you could play as two characters, a dude who was a detective or some thot. For whatever reason, you're sent to investigate a house that is possessed by some entity. It borrows heavily from H.P. Lovecraft and a lot of the monsters are straight up ripped off from his books. It had a lot of the gameplay elements that Biohazard used, like limited ammo, puzzle solving, an interconnected mansion, etc.
