I think I'm a cannabis addict
>I smoke like twice a night when I'm on it
>When I've been smoking I feel like I need to smoke it every night.
>It helps me sleep and so I feel I can't sleep without it.
>I feel like it hinders my productivity.
I haven't smoked for like a month, but I wanna tonight... Am I paranoid about being an addict or should I just smoke?

a joint is fine every few months or so as a special occasion, control yourself. Just like any other drug, when you need ti to cope/get through everyday things, it becomes a problem.
For fucks sake op I hope this is bait. You can't get physically addicted to smoking weed. You could get emotionally addicted just like you can with anything else you deem worth repeating ie. Jerking off, watching movies, playing sports. I smoke nightly, as it gives me sounder sleep, but if I stop my sleep only sucks for a night or so then it's back to normal. Don't be such a massive fucking pussy, are you 12?
No you can certainly get a dependence on it, if you can't control yourself you should leave it even longer. Getting in here before all the faggots come rushing in that say weed isn't addictive and stuff, it absolutely is just not in the same way as other things.
When you do it often enough your brain gets used to it and starts to consider it normal, so when you don't have it your brain really wants it to get back to what it thinks is now normal. Stay off it long enough to reset your normal and you'll feel better, you'll sleep better, eat better and you'll appreciate how wonderful it is again without having such a high tolerance that it doesn't touch you like it used to.
Hey thanks... I think this is what I needed to hear tbh... It's been a whole month and I don't want to fuck that up. I just feel like I don't smoke that much that maybe i'm not really an addict. But then on the other hand I'm smoking more than I want to so I think you're right.
People who are addicted to alcohol or any other drug aren't "physically addicted" when they are a month sober. But they are certainly still addicts. Makes no sense.
You can become dependent on it, but not addicted in the traditional sense.
If someone told me that they were seriously addicted to cannabis, I'd lose respect for them for being such massive faggots, honestly.
this here is some user with experience
youu clearly have never done anything truly addicting in your life
What he means is that Cannabis, unlike other synthetic hard drugs, has no chemical hooks to cause a physiological addiction. You can become psychologically addicted to it, usually called developing a dependence, but if you have the right combination of personality traits and environmental factors (10% of the population), you can become dependent on any substance or action.
Fact is, user, you're probably using Cannabis to escape from your life or to run away from issues plauging you. Don't do this, not with Cannabis, not with any other substance. Stop smoking for a while and deal with your problems head on. Once your life is stable and more calm, you'll realise smoking Cannabis doesn't really have the allure or even emotional effect it used to have for you. It becomes like any other recreational substance; something to be done on weekends and with friends.
t. Former SoCal pothead, ex-daily smoker.
Psychologist here.
"People who are addicted to alcohol or any other drug aren't "physically addicted" when they are a month sober. But they are certainly still addicts. Makes no sense."
This statement is fucking retarded. Physical addictions from alcoholism and hard drugs rewires large portions of the brains circuitry. They're "physically" addicted for their entire lives.
Don't spread shitty information.
I mean if you start thinking that you might be smoking too much, you probably are, or just too often. You might be smoking because you're bored of your life or to feel better about a problem, but sort that shit out. Smoking weed when you're in a properly good mood is way better for you than when you're in a shit mood. When you feel shit, in comes the 'need' to smoke it, but when you feel great, you won't even want to smoke it that much, and when you do, it'll be way more fun.
Don't smoke weed. We all got peer pressured into thinking it isn't bad for you in middle school, but it really is and it's a huge waste of money.
pot rewires the brain too. That's psychological addiction.
Physical addiction is when people can't function without the substance anymore. Weed doesn't do this.
Clearly not a real psychologist just a weed advocate cosplaying.

Nice nugger
read
it doesn't completely remap your brains desires like other drugs, it puts a little tick in the back that desires cannibals just as much as a cookie would effect your cravings now compare that to a cigarette or periodic orgasms and you have a sensible comparison
my adopted mother was a drug recovery therapist and ive seen many an addicts end, stop comparing your boring escapism to real life tragedy cause you, like a child, cant control your impulses
emeraldcoastjourneypure.com
explains it in simple talk for you :)
It's mild compared to other drugs, but a LOT of people get addicted to cannabis. 5% of young adults are - not 5% of users. 5% of young adults.
>you cant control your impulse
>I haven't smoked for like a month
retarded
It's not about saying ITS JUST AS BAD AS CRACK GUYS
fucking dumbass.
In no way is saying I'm addicted to weed the same as saying crack and weed are just as dangerous.
i want you to go back and read the psychologist post where he says its not physical but psychological, then i want you to put two and two together and realize that you agree with him faggot
all that article said was 5% of young adults are dependent but not addicted, meaning they use it occasionally if not daily and will experience minor symptoms when removed but not serious withdraws
no
>Physical addictions from alcoholism and hard drugs rewires large portions of the brains circuitry
Psychological addictions do that.
Weed is psychologically addicting.
Physical addictions are when people can't function without the substance. Like when someone is on crack and you take their crack away and then they fucking die.... (can happen with alchohol btw)
congratulations, want 30 day chip. next will be giving em out to the people who went 30 days without soda
its not about danger faggot just the sheer fact that A. your not special for that and B its not harder to kick than a caffeine addiction faggot so why does it matter
Why do you give a shit then? Just getting mad that I'm using the word addiction?
>It's my word. It's only for my crackhead friends who died :(
its just misinformed and quite frankly a retarded claim only used by pussies but hey you do you
cause fags like you dont have any real problems and default to blaming a fucking plant for your failures
pussies and the government
pic related
projection
they both are shown to rewire neural pathways and brain activity, this is why higher rates of mental illness are seen in cases of physical addiction. also the obvious difference in the effect one has on both the brain damage factor and effects to things like the endocrine system
Yeah you have a problem OP. The problem with weed addiction is that it's psychological not chemical, so it makes you feel like life is boring without it. What you're really doing is making your body dependent on the dopamine rush weed gives you, and preventing it from releasing dopamine on its own without weed.
>physically addicting substances are also psychologically addicting
i know.
theirs a more nuanced perspective on the whole of this topic but fine you win
Listen I literally didn't come here to debate this shit.. I fucking baited myself by posting this.
People just coming in saying my problem isn't valid and it's pissing me off.
I understand other things are way worse. I don't have that other problem. I have this problem and just wanted help.
>wanted help.
which I got btw. thanks peeps who responded.
its not that your problem isn't valid, you just shouldn't need any advice or a support group to deal with it. you've gone a month without it ,thats a long enough of a tolerance brake to start again if you feel like it. its not like its gonna suck you in and destroy your life and if you dont feel like going back simply dont but dont be afraid of the cravings. it doesn't take much self control to show moderation with the shit and you've shown enough of that already to go a month so it shouldn't be to hard
Aight. I'll think on it. Tonight I'm not going to smoke though. I have a friend who really wants me to smoke weed with him and then fuck him. That's more or less what triggered this. I hadn't been thinking about smoking before.
