Why does the mod keep pandering to this spammer?
every fucking day this entry level pleb makes a thread about this plebeian hogwash
like a bot working for a company trying to figure out something
sort of like that one guy who is in charge of Sup Forums that works for a company that actually does this.....
yikes
>>You are alive. That means you will always have the chance to be happy.
That's always been my philosophy on justification for the death penalty, that your crimes are so heinous that you should be offered no form of mortal redemption.
It's not all the same guy. If all the threads were coming from the same IP I'd understand the problem but it seems to be just a resurgence in Eva threads. Just hide them and in a month Sup Forums will have moved on
An Eva thread is better than a two word shitpost about some dumb fucking superhero movie
>So what does that make the two of you within my heart?
>We are the hope that people will one day understand each other
>And we are the words "I love you."
Fuck off to with your gooktoon bullshit also your main character jacks off to a comatose girl
Newfag get out
>discusing anime on Sup Forums
No. Sup Forums is made for waifu wars like that user was trying to make
Sup Forums doesn't want Sup Forumsedditors that just came from /r/anime playing catch up
>it's a "weebs that never watch anything not japanese circlejerk about the most overrated anime of human history" episode
Just give it up already, or at least use another image next time
pleb general. you are the worst cancer on Sup Forums.
exactly the same audience my anime AND capeshit watching friend. when you turn 18 you will realise what a pleb you were
>weebs that never watch anything not japanese
Actually for most people on Sup Forums it's one of the few anime they've seen.
If it's exactly the same audience, why do I hate capeshit with a passion? Also have you actually seen the show/movie?
>Shinji just mopes around the entire time
>half of it was DUDE EXISTENTIALISM LMAO
>Shinji becomes so mentally unstable that he destroys the entire world and turning everyone into some orange substance
>"Wow that was such beautiful movie"
>tfw not an ignorant faggot
>tfw all the "deep themes" in this movie have been analyzed and used by other works for centuries
>tfw you watch it and while appreciating it aren't amazed by it because it offers nothing new
A beautiful movie indeed.
You can make pretty much anything sound retarded when you simplify it with meme speak. That's the weakest form of criticism.
Sounds like it went over your head
Suggest some other works then user
grow up
Sounds to me like you need to grow up if you can't grasp a series as simple as eva
What the HECK
I agree with you here but I was just telling you why this scum doesn't go there and spams this board
IT'S 2DEEP4U U JUS DUN GET IT
Jesus Christ you guys sound like fucking redditors
>too retarded to competently criticize the show
>"grow up"
>I-its okay I didn't understand it because I can dismiss it with meme speak!
Grow up
And how do you know what redditors sound like, reddit?
the anime is so shit no wonder nobody has ever bothered finishing it to watch this """""""kino"""""""""" chink motion picture
>IT'S 2DEEP4U U JUS DUN GET IT
Anyone who isn't a literal brainlet should be able to grasp it pretty easily.
I wasn't the one that criticized it, I am just telling you pathetic loser to grow up
Keep crying that I insulted your cartoon, you guys got EvangeliOWNED
I don't know what's worse, this thread or the avere Sup Forums Eva thread
You're acting the least mature here user
>I'm a such a le good trole
Epic, epic for the win
Thoughts on Eva's true spiritual successor?
I did the whole 4 hours in one sitting the other day, and while I don't think it reaches the best of Eva, I'd say it's just as good on average. Especially that damn good finale
>DUDE DECONSTRUCTION LMAO
Excuse me?
Just because a show is a darker version of a previously established genera doesn't make it a deconstruction
What Eastern movie is most comparable to EoE?
I think that was his point. But yeah, found it eye rolling whenever someone describe that series as a deconstruction for magical shoujo series, when other magical shoujo series have already tried different things in it's genre, all Madoka does is "look how dark we can get!".
Western* excuse me
The Tree of Life
Not really similar in any significant way. The themes are completely different
Well... I was thinking they both kinda have to do with dealing with suffering.
In Tree of Life the main character learns to live with it, and in EoE Shinji actually chooses to continue suffering so that he could feel the joy in comparison to it.
But yeah there's definitely a lot of differences.
shit movie.
shit board.
shit medium.
you post this is almost every thread I find myself in
>Well... I was thinking they both kinda have to do with dealing with suffering.
That's definitely true, although EoE is definitely a lot more cerebral and character-focused, whereas The Tree of Life explores that theme along with many others on a much broader scale. Also they do certainly share a similar sense of grandeur.
I guess I have been posting it a lot lately. My bad senpai.
Yeah, you're right, you're right. They're both very experimental too. I'm not sure what Western film could be closer to EoE.
Dumb toiletposter
story of my fucking life
I get lonely too easy and blame everything for it
I thought it was utter shit and hated every single character. Didn't even bother watching the finale
...
I'm not sure I ever really understood this part of instrumentality fully
A-Are those shots real?
So beautiful.
I interpreted it as Shinji hating and blaming himself for his loneliness. We see the mother figure and the two children leave, and he's left alone. Immediately he starts destroying his own sandcastle, so to me it's showing in an abstract way just how much he hates himself as a result of his abandonment. It's pretty heartbreaking.
Well the dinosaur one definitely uses CGI
...
Is this a grid of every shot from the film?
There's a fair bit of symbolism to it as well though.
The spotlights (similar to Ep.25 in the show)
The shots of the sunset between the hills resembling a woman in labour
Speed of the swinging seat (is slow, speeds up when the children are playing with him, then slows and stops when they leave and he finishes the pyramid alone)
The mother figure and then the children leaving are on some kind of platform or stage. I think it depicts them separated by the void in pic related
Shinji comments that it's like when he started practising the cello, and that he "thought there would be something if I came here"
>You are alive. That means you will always have the chance to be happy.
That's not how it works. At all. That's also not what the film wants to convey. At all.
You failed your analysis 101 film school class.
I thought it was him building NERV headquarters and taking his anger out on his father who basically ruined his life and caused his loneliness.
I see it as him taking his anger out on himself. Self loathing the crux of his character after all. I think the castle being the pyramid shape is Anno throwing in familiar imagery wherever he can, as he does so often.
on the off chance there's someone who hasn't enriched their lives with this video of Anno phoning prostitutes

I don't see OP saying that he thought it was the message of the film. It seemed to me he was just sharing a quote that affected him
shit, meant to reply to
can you elaborate on this
it's been a while since i've seen the movie and i would like to read your thoughts on it
I actually just finished this for the first time last night, and I have to say everyone who didn't understand it was retarded because it's pretty in your face with the explanations and symbolism. But my only question is why did Shinji choke out Asuka? Was he mad at her? I get why she was cool with it because she saw into his mind during the tang and understood he was incredibly fucked up but what was his motivation?
Its still wildly debated and speculated. The most popular theories is that he was testing to see if she was real, or that he started choking her because he truly hated her, but stopped once she touched his face, the first real sign of sympathy he had been shown in his whole life
Also followup question did he fuck his mom in the Tang or was that Lilith? Really having 5 different characters look exactly the same except for their hair color was a poor decision, especially when you put the sex scene in a room with an orange filter.
I mean it could have been
>Random Rei clone (who was actually supposed to have orange hair)
>His mom
>Rei
>Replacement Rei
>Lilith
...
*silence*
Literally every time, not that user, just a lurker laughing at pretentious fuckwits getting called out.
he's probably still googling "anime better than Evangelion".
If you're referring to the scene where shinji and rei are sort of melted into each other, then it was rei, and it wasn't sex. It was sort of a visual metaphor for instrumentality.
Then it doesn't exist retard
lel I wasn't even trying to call him out. I genuinely wanted some recs but I guess he was talking out his ass.
>what is life/living
>literally father-mother-son relationship
>everyone ends up as LCL
>christianity and space odyssey sprinkles on top
I'm sorry there weren't giant robots you weeb
the last time they spoke she was ignoring his pleas for help and looked at him with pure contempt. That and wandering in isolation for an undetermined amount of time meant that his first instinct was violence
At least that's what I got out of it
The Tree of Life is one of my favourite movies, user, but as I said earlier, Evangelion is different in that it's primarily focused on characters and their psychology. Yes it deals with ideas such as god and creation, but not in the same way The Tree of Life does, and despite the christian symbolism that's present in Evangelion, I don't think it's necessarily about Christianity at all.
I mean... They're kind of fucking

Is Lilith in the tang too? I assumed because she created it she was kind of sitting outside moderating
anyone who likes asuka immediately gets their opinion discarded
literally the worst girl
Yeah, that was obviously intended, but it obviously is more than just that. Like for example how all of Shinji's modesty is immediately gone during instrumentality. There's no fear of intimacy or embarrassment.
the Rei clones and Lilith share the same soul, it is just fractured at different points
Rei resembling Yui was (most likely) intentional on Gendo's part, but they do not share the same soul, since it is inside of Unit 1.
I think it's referring back to the idea that the characters use sex to try to fill the "part missing from the soul", and instrumentality is the natural conclusion to that. Shinji's there so we see him visually rejecting instrumentality, and also that that we can compare his demeanor to when he fell on naked Rei near the start of the show
So, let me see if I understood the ending.
When instrumentality happens and everyone but them turns into tang, it means that even thought humans had the choice of living in the actual world and they instead chose to lose their free will in exchange of living in a utopia of some sort?
Adam and Lilith take the forms of Rei and Kaworu in the tang
>in comparison
That, I didn't see.
Basically Shinji chose to let anyone who wants to live as an individual do so. I don't think it's that only he and Asuka were only ones to choose individuality, it's just that they were the very first two.
yeah it will it'll just be uninhabitable
I'm glad I understood what the ending was (roughly, anyways) supposed to be because they show really felt like a clusterfuck to me and I wasn't sure I understood it at all.
The only people willing to leave the tang are people who believe they deserve suffering and need to feel pain before they can be happy. So everyone who's actually well adjusted is in a hivemind with all of their friends in what is basically the rapture that kicks out everyone who chose to leave because they either rely t on the struggle of existence or hate themselves
