"Good. Our first catch of the day"

"Good. Our first catch of the day"

How did they know what a day was if they were in orbit?

Imperial standard time

A light-hearted joke to get everyone through another Monday morning.

How did Han solo know what hell was?

You still have "days", to account for sleep schedules and times on duty.

If you're in a submarine for some places, you work 18 hour days instead of 24 hour days. You don't see sky anyway.

Nigga they're even more technologically advanced than we are. I'm sure they have sorted out a a metric of time based on their home planet's orbit.

How do you know what a day is from your basement

Why do they use fishing terminology. Is there fish in Star Wars?

What was the empire's tax policy of fish anyway?

But there is no 'morning' in space. And the while concept of the week and days of the week doesn't make sense outside Earth.

There's always a bigger fish

They're still going to use some sort of unit of time for scheduling and taking logs and shit. They will have an in-ship given "day".

There's always a bigger fish.

Obviously the workers would have shifts that alternate, it is likely that this crew had just arisen from rest. In this context the phrase makes sense if you discount the antiquity of fishing references on a space station.

They're probably talking about the "work day"

Just because you're in orbit doesn't mean that you stop having days, or that people stop having a circadian rhythm. They work X amount of hours, get off, do something, go to sleep, and then wake up the next morning to go back to work. That's a day. You can keep some sort of 24-hour schedule even if you can't see the sun through the magical devices known as "clocks"

no, but that really doesnt discount the fact that people have to sleep

Makes me wonder if we'll still be using the same phrases in 1000 years

We use adages that go way back. You know the whole eenie meenie miney mo? Ancient celtic runes from the 1600's. Only example I can think of off the top of my head. Blaspheming has stayed largely the same I suppose.

He was referencing the fact that a large portion of the Rebellion was comprised of these fish-looking dudes. They also built most of the rebel ships.

Bravo Lucas

Its disappointing that most "aliens" in movies/tv shows are just humanoids with different heads and skin colours

Part of the reason why I was so dissappointed by the new mass effect.
not to mention they just used all the old fucking races

people often say that but really it's the only way to make aliens that people "get". Yeah you can make sentient slime or whatever but it won't be easily explainable to the viewer

You would still operate on a 24 hour time schedule

>movie about space wizards
>using time reference terminology in space is where your immersion breaks

>People refer to the Jedi as followers of a 'old' 'false' religion
>These people were alive, and grown up during the Clone Wars
>The Republic was shown to have TV and News that often covered the actions of the Jedi

Fucking hell

This.

Empire propaganda
Probably put out a lot of expose type articles about how the Jedi were fraudsters

>"My mother died when I was very young, she was very beautiful, kind... but sad"

How did Leia remember Padme?

I'm pretty sure even the Empire clocks in to work.

By using da force!
Anyway it's a retcon, so unless EU...

wtf i hate star wars

Because it's day when you're awake and night when you're asleep, dummy.

Not if you genetically engineer yourself.

A fish was a type of aquatic creature that could be found throughout the galaxy. Some types of fish included the burra fish of Dathomir[1] and the scalefish of Naboo.[2]

>being retarded

fuck you

because he lived there!?

because a place far far away is actually hell

but there are no "shifts" in space so the workers would have to work indefinitely

for you

I apologize, Luke. Clearly I've been neglecting your studies.

Luke, did I ever tell you about beds?
A bed was a piece of furniture designed to sleep on and perhaps dream. Beds were a common fixture in many households and living quarters in the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Empire. Specific types included the bunk, often found in military settings, and the featherbed.[1] There also existed portable rolls of bedding, known as sleeping rolls.[2]

Lieutenant Chiron perhaps said it best
>"Beautiful morning, isn't it, gentlemen? But then every morning in the Emperor's service is beautiful! Every ration square's the finest nerf steak! Every bunk's a featherbed!"
He was a good friend, that knew the requirements of beds and the morning.

she's remebering her stepmom?

This guy looks and sounds like Charles Dance.

damn

>looks like fish is back on the menu boys

Was it spacefish? How did they catch it on a spaceship otherwise?

Good to see someone with the sense to skip to the shitposting.

>Imperial standard time
fpbp

Spacetalk/alien language that most of them speak is all converted to common english known to americans so they can watch the film.

When you don't do this, your film becomes retarded and annoying, I really don't care for converting every day to a cycle and whatnot, it's just not worth it, unless you're gonna make a strict sci-fi movie.

kekd hard

this is what city people with degrees believe

this

it's not that way in the EU cause you can draw whatever in a page but in a movie you would have to use cgi to make non humanod like sebulba and look how bad he looked
