Its impossible to xray. Ps expert here.
Xray basicslly just is editing levels, curves and saturation to darken the shadows and lighten the highlights, and then chsnging the colour of the bikini to match the skin tone.
If someone had a thin white top and had big stiff nipples poking thru then that would be easy to xray. Same with tight undies and abit of shadowing around the camel toe area. Its basically a glorified 'zoom and enhance'
However if there isnt any definition like in this^ pic, it cant be xrayed.

to clarify,high res obiously helps, but whats important is the lighting and the material of the clothing. if thre's small perforations in seeming sollid black clothing, then infrared light is reflecting back out off the skin. You can see it with your eye, but all that dad is captured in the raw photo.
It's hard to tell if an exray will work until you try, even it it looks like a good canditate

just tried an xray quick. I think it works. only used exposure and levels that time. didnt bother with trying to make it perfect

1. first I line them up best as I can. (sometimes you need to use two separate pictures for different body parts to be revealed, but is just one body, cause ive used it twice now loi, its a good one :P)
2. then I lasso to quick select the rough area I need (basically anything over top of clothing that needs to go). Sometimes I fix my layer masks at the beginning if im confident, if im not sure it'll look good, then I start doing the color first to see if itll turn out.
3. Adjustments are :
a) levels - match ur shadows
b) I try to get lucky and go straight to hue/saturation/brightness. I find you can get really close with just that
c) The most important setting is color balance. you gotta pay attention to the colors of the shadows , midtones, and highlights of the skin to match it perfectly.
d)Exposure is sometimes important, depending on if the pictures were taken in really differtent lighting.
e) and I always save brightness/contrast for last, cause if you do it before exposure and shodows and stuff it throws to off. Put you can use that to match the contrast of the original image.
4. Then to furthter match the original image quality,
a) I apply a noise filter to the pasted in body part, because most of the photos I use are really crisp, but selfies are not....
b) and lastly I apply a really light guassian blur on that same element, to blur the noise so it looks natural and not like coloured dots.
Bonus: Sometimes if I really really cant get teh skin tones to match, then I just cheat and change the original image in the background a bit to match my poor judgement :)
that's the technique I just sort of developed over the years. Hope that helps anyone if they wanna try. OR if you have any tips for me other master shoopers, lemme know.
