It's a female stink bug, you can tell because it has elongated features. The males look similar but they're wider and their legs are shorter. They typically live out in the trees but they become indoor pests as the weather starts to become colder, and they prepare to hibernate by clustering up together in warm spots like the areas between your walls, behind curtains, near your heater, around your lights.

If you kill them, they don't particularly "stink" it's more of just a potent, headache inducing and potent scent, the longer you've lived in a zone that's infested, the more used to the scent you get and the less likely it is to give you a headache, if there are any adverse side effects to that, I'm not sure.

get rid of them if you see them, if you see one, it's likely that there are a whole bunch of them hiding in the cracks and crevasses of your home. You'll be smashing them all winter. It's also likely that the trees around your home are infested. You're never going to get rid of them permanently, they always come back.

They don't like cold climates but as the globe continues to warm, they're going to keep migrating north. It wasn't that long ago that we started getting them here in the north-eastern states of the US.

We used to get a fuck load of them in our house. id capture them in a plastic water bottle after about 10, the first few would start to die. it got to the point where i would gag opening the bottle to catch another one.

oh also, because it's a female, murder the fuck out of it, it has probably already laid eggs, they multiply in large numbers.
