Sup /b, so my Dr prescribed me Adderall XR 20mg to help bring me back up to some level of motivation (I don't have ADHD, so it's a stim to me). Went on a month long alcohol bender, finished the Librium Monday and started this.
I've used it recreationally in the past and it was great (preferred Vyvanse but too expensive). But since then, I did meth once, and coke a moderate amount.
I'm only supposed to take one a day, but it's worn off by noon, and it barely makes me feel like it ever used to. I don't wanna be on it forever, just to get out of this funk. I took another after work just to get shit done. Any ways to increase potency? Could I crack open the capsule and take it another way?
Switch to Instant release. XR has always made me mad/irrational at the drop of a hat. 2 IR a day... very nice, just don’t skip days.

whats b fav Adderall? new adfag here and looking to get into the game after trying it a couple times

OP here, ty for the suggestion on instant release, I may mention that to my Dr and see if that works any better.
I wonder if I took 2 XRs at a time, if it would last any longer, or just double the effect for the same length of time...

take your adderall and wait half an hour to drink coffee. Amplifies the stim effect. Although dextroamphetamine is sensitive to acid content in your stomach so if taken with the coffee there might be a good chance it isn't being absorbed properly

I usually grab an energy drink like a Redbull and have that along with it. Helps a bit.

You're depressed. Literally find an intensive (like exhausts the fuck out of you but that you enjoy) exercise routine and stick to it like smegma on your phismosis'd dick. Stop feeding pharmaceutical companies their daily bread.

I've been athletic all my life, I've always found solace in fitness and health, all of it. Distance running, powerlifting, cycling, climbing/hiking, Muay Thai/BJJ, varsity track all through high school, etc..But I just don't feel it anymore. So much has happened, I've fucked myself up so much..The Adderall has helped a little and I started working out at home again a bit, but I miss real workouts and training.

No Dr is going to do this. you are faggot

I take 60mg of vyvanse a day, I'm sure if you ask you doctor can increase you dose. Why exactly are you prescribed it again?
Bentley Evans
You don't feel it anymore. So you stopped. Now you're on adderall. You do things because they're good for you, not because you 'feel them.' Jesus, first time back on Sup Forums in half a fucking decade and I see a dude who isn't willing to reinvent himself after literally having the extensive experience needed to circumnavigate the very thing that's plaguing him. You created your own hell. Figure out why while doing the stuff that's good for you. Dopamine sourced from your body is the most bio-available. Or, just fucking kys faggot. > I'm not some drunk oldfag

Also, are you sure you don't have ADHD? Have you taken a continuous performance test?
We discussed my mental state after coming down from the alcohol and he was willing to prescribe me something to help temporarily. I could have chosen a benzo, but I don't really like downers. Adderall/Vyvanse has always gotten me really motivated and sharper, though only used it a handful of times before. I messed up my life pretty good and wanted something to bring me up a bit to get stable again, before going back on Modafinil. But I guess all that crap I did in the past kind of ruined the efficacy of this.

Hate to break it to you, but if you aren't actively using the medication to help you make better decisions or change your behavioral patterns, you're just getting high. Which is cool >fucking kys faggot as long as you admit it.

You are damn right I created me own Hell. I did it purposely, I fucked up my own life and I am in the position I'm in now because of it. I'm not certain if I want to stay off the wagon, I had more or less been trying to kill myself drinking, even had a couple seizures..But fuck it, if I wanna die anyways, might as well give it another go at the whole life thing.
I know why I did the things I've done, and I have no one to blame by myself. It's unfortunate that understanding and introspection alone isn't enough to change it.

Put it up your ass.

You should ask your doctor about taking a continuous performance test, if you live in the US at least.
Its a short test that is taken on a computer that lasts about 15 minutes.
The test consists of basically a white background and every few seconds a letter such as "a" or "x" will pop up. The goal is to press the spacebar anytime a letter EXCEPT x appears on the screen as quickly as possible.
After the test, your results are displayed and you can determine if you have ADHD or ADD. I think it would be really smart for you to give it a shot, it can't hurt.

It's a little of both, I've improved work quite a bit, which I needed to do after doing shit work being loaded all day, every day, leaving early, etc..And I did start working out again. I got motivated enough to fix up some PCs and sell them, make some cash as I'm late on pretty much everything and make less than half what I used to. I still just have the craving to drink though, and I guess I wanted a bit more motivation. Can't have it all I guess haha.

That's why we turn the introspection in and understanding in to meaningful action. It's a wild skill set that many people don't implement. You're a technically new person at any given moment anyways. Just build from a point that you enjoy/like.
Big changes require big moves. Big moves are only feasible if done in small steps. Plan and execute said plan. Over and over. Don't let baby meth do your feeling for you. None of this conversation on Sup Forums will do a damn thing. You gotta change the small habits to change the big habits. Change enough small habits and suddenly you have a new perspective on the big scary constraining habit, and it seems like a silly shitty habit instead. Seriously, this is all basic CBT shit. Change the way you think and you change the way you think. Fucking novel, ain't it?

You can buy the book, or search and download a pdf version here: libgen.is (great site for finding books)

I agree with everything you've said. I appreciate the time you've taken to give me this advice, and you are absolutely right about changing these small poor habits before realizing the bigger ones. I know why I did the stupid shit and developed poor habits, but guess I never really thought about how I'd go about fixing them. One step at a time. I don't want to be on stims forever, so I have to change or else I probably will just wind up dead. Or jail.
