Fear is for the weak. Bare the pain.

This

The withdrawals aren't as bad as the side effects of taking it tbh. It sucks for about a week.

over about 3 or 4 weeks. Or else you'll get weird painful brain zaps like someone popping an electric balloon inside your head.

60 days is nothing, ive been taking it for over a year

this

Citalopram is a pretty weak anti depressant, just slowly wean yourself off. Lower your dosage by half every 5 days until you’re down to 5mg, then after that 5 days stop taking it.

How do you get your head to clear?

dude citalopram is weak AF. withdrawals for me were minimal.

usually best to get smaller dosed pills then cold turkey after 5mg. make sure to see your doc while you do this so they can monitor your symptoms.

Thanks for the encouragement, I guess.

Yes, I heard about the brain zaps. I forgot taking it for a day and the anxiety attack I had due to withdrawals was horrific.
During it I remembered I didn't take my anti depressants for almost 48 hours, it got way better after intake.
However I don't want my wellbeing to depend on those pills. That's why I wanna get off them.

Did you ever have a desire to stop? How was your experience in general? I'm curious.

Seems like a reasonable approach. Thank you.

I've been taking it for about 10 years, currently on 40mg. If I stop for about a week my head feels completely fucked. Hoping I'll be able to ease off of it over time as well.

Ease yourself off and see how you do

Celexa is ass

Was on Lexapro. Tried cold turkey, but the brain zaps fucked me up so bad I wanted to die just from those. So I bought a pill cutter from the dollar store. Took half a tab every morning for like 5 days, then a quarter tab for 3 days, then an 8th for a week or so. Finally got off with minimal side effects.

I don't have experience with anti-depressants but I'm in the process of getting off of opiates. From what the other anons are saying, it's similar in the fact that you have to slowly ween yourself off of them. Don't rush yourself and it's good to go too slow than too quickly. Slow and steady wins the race as far as getting off of drugs that are addictive.

Taking 40mg/day? Cut down to 20mg/day for two weeks, then 10mg/day for two weeks, then stop.

This is what I've done under a doctor's guidance.

Just go cold turkey.
I was on 40mg Citalopram for several years, took about a month to feel remotely normal again.

just stop taking it

Slowly reduce your dosage. You're going to get brain zaps, you're just going to have to put up with them. After a week or two you'll be fine.

Suicide
It's the easiest way
