It's honestly boring as fuck and full of padding. It's pretty much only worth watching because Jon Hamm is attractive and it has a lot of attractive females in it.

You keep waiting for the show to get going, but it just never does, it just ambles along things happen but they never really end anywhere.

I watched all the to the end of season 2 and I was completely non plussed. I like some of the actors etc but all it did was make me hungry because people are always goddam eating and drinking.

The show stopped capturing my attention. Watched the first two seasons and then draper's actions just became so ridiculous. It seemed unreal how much drama was in every character's life. That and they kind of threw away any mystery or intrigue he had when they did such a lazy backstory.

I was sort of indifferent to it at first but started to like it more during the second season. It's almost more about mood and tone than plot. Sup Forums thinks anything that doesn't fit into their narrow definition of kino is shit.

I was rewatching it recently and it's pretty shocking. She's so strong in the later episodes that I forgot how much of a petty cunt she is to Peggy in the early seasons.

it got off to a rough start and for the first season it didn't seem to know what it wanted to be, is it about a man and his terrible secret? is it about infidelity and marital strain behind the facade of a perfect family, is it about the secretaries at an ad firm?? Seemed the second season started out still not knowing what it wanted to be, but they turned it around, and by the end of the season they were on track for a really great season three, four, five... and kept that great writing, storytelling, acting, etc at a sustained high level all the way through to the finale. Loved the setting and period details too. They were perfect.

tldr: I and some of 2 rough, from 3 on grade A prime drama.

The "dude things were different in the 60s lmao" moments in the first season don't help either.

funny you should say that: second time through I noticed that the dialog in season 1 is delivered and recorded in such a way that it sounds just like "soap opera" dialog. Didn't care for that.

this is the exact feeling I had with it. watched the first season in the span of about 3 days (recovering from surgery) but half way through the 2nd season I just gave up
not the first time a hyped to hell, long lasting tv show has let me down

Great characters, great setting. Decently written drama of the society, its issues and the people during the time when america still was a "great country". Slow paced and doesnt offer much excitement, just good style and human lives.

Mad Men is like scifi but set in the 60s in NY. It's an exploration of that time and place in the same way other shows are about the future.
