Is there an actual video game franchise that wouldn't suck dick as a movie or TV series?

I think Warcraft could have worked but they biffed it.

Who would you get to play 2b in a live action adaptation?

Like that would ever get made.

Honestly, though, not sure. I don't think an actual human could pull it off.

Runescape the movie

Rise of Empires if they don't go cheap on it.

Digits confirm Tetris movie

Guild Wars 1, it has a lot of story and depth to the interactions and so on.
And maybe Team Fortress 2, I can see a animated movie with a few laughs to it. Blue and Red fighting each other up until halfway through and then discover the threat of the robots invading the place.

well, until they made one with fucking Marky Mark, I thought that Max Payne would transition well into a movie

>Obvious post is obvious
I'd honestly really like to see a Half-Life movie because there's a LOT of cool shit to the story that is at best barely mentioned in the actual games, but staying true to the form would probably be difficult given the whole "Gordon Freeman does't talk" thing.

There are lots of games that have universes that would make fantastic movie/tv franchises, but talented people typically aren't the ones making them.

Warcraft
Halo
The Last of Us
Uncharted
Half-Life
Starcraft
Bioshock
Elder Scrolls
Red Dead Redemption
Grand Theft Auto
Portal
Fallout

Probably a lot more I'm missing.

Hell, if you got the right people behind it you could even make a good Call of Duty movie. There were some interesting parts to the first Black Ops game.

Good luck finding good people to make them. Good luck finding a studio that wouldn't make terrible decisions to play it safe.

It would be a huge deal, and Gordon would be interrupted when ever he tries to say something for at least 15 minutes.
Teheehe we are gamurs and know he doesn'T talk in the videa gemz.

Halo would still probably make a great movie if you let the original writers handle the story and make part of it a Master Chief origin story

GTAIV would've made for a great TV series. The Sopranos for slavs.

who would even direct this kino fucking game

Legacy of Kain series

K I N O

Villaneuve

Ocarina of Time (could be a trilogy) and Wrath of the Lich King (also a trilogy starting at WCIII story)

It's not that video game movies are doomed to suck, it's that no one ever adapts the good stories.

Feels like the general atmosphere and artstyle didn't translate well to the screen. Aside from the orcs the movie looked like dogshit.

This game is better off as porn and a 3DPD whore is already doing it

I think they would work best in a miniseries format. Movies tend to be too short, but games don't typically have enough smaller arcs within them to really fill a full season of a tv show.

Any given Metal Gear Solid game would probably be good if you could find a director willing to work with Kojima.

Dark Souls is pretty fucking kino, but it would have to be handled carefully. Think Samurai Jack sort of thing where entire episodes can pass without anyone saying a word. Just the first game. Focus on the main character not entirely understanding their quest and whether to believe Kaathe and Frampt. Leave the ending ambiguous.

KOTOR could be kino if put in the right hands.

Bioshock is one of the very few examples of the video game medium being used to a great extent. If anything, the way a movie is structured would DETRACT from the experience.

Dan Schneider.

The problem with the first one is that Jack never talks. Bioshock 2 and Infinite could work though. They could get MEW to play Elizabeth.

Kek

a lot of them could, the only problem is hollywood tries too hard to include fan service and attach talented writers and directors to the projects so they can fully flesh out stories using the lore

No. Bioshock 2 was shit. I didn't play Infinite but on the surface it appeared to be waifus in the sky. But, who could possibly portray a kino depiction of Andrew Ryan?

Grow up and get a real hobby you disgusting manchildren.

KOTOR

>He said, posting on Sup Forums

Nice

no because video games are for plebs

...

Mass effect easy as fuck.

Gears of War. If you like Predator, Starship Troopers, and war films in general you have no right to deny a Gears film. A lot easier to adapt than Warhammer or StarCraft.

Film adaptations of the SD Perry Resident Evil novels would be kino.

A cheesy low budget Hotline Miami movie would be the shit.

Fallout (1, 2 and New Vegas)

Guillermo del Toro I would say.

I better be able to find this webm on gif or wsg wit that bagraiders song or ur a dead man poe

I still think bioshock movies could be a good mix of horror scifi. It could be a trilogy, and the story arc could be told a bit better. Cant tellme that younger fanning that has the stankpuss face wouldnt make a good lil sister and that mtn dude from got ina big daddy suit? Hell the effects from the plasmids om screen would be dope. And its underwater. Last good deepsea flick was sphere tbqhwyf

BRUCE CAMPBELL AS ANDREW RYAN IN A PREQUEL TO BIOSHOCK

Psychonauts cartoon where each mind is handed off to a different animator

Reminder just because a game has a good story does not mean it would be a good movie.
Pic related would be nice if you got some one who knew how to make a dark comedy.

the only good vidya movie is Uwe Boll's Postal

why the hell haven't they done these
>action-based
>already gritty and serious
>strong characters (at least for movie execs)
>Bond throwback soundtrack
>heavily story-driven anyways
>already has a ton of games so all the material you could hope for

Seriously WHY? Is it because the main characters are white?
