Does anyone else get a strong kitsch vibe when you walk into a Catholic parish? I'm Orthodox, so I'm probably biased, but I was wondering if anyone else feels this way?

I don't go into temples of any sort you disgusting babylonian.

>Babylonians invented temples
What. Temples are a thing in the OT

this is the catholic church I go to.

the most kitsch thing it has are the stained glass windows I guess.

The first temple in Jewish tradition dates from around 832 BC.

Temple of Amada an Egyptian temple from 1500 bc and that's one example I remember.

Someone should fix that pot and trim those hedges, if they haven't done so already.

My OCD is tingling

'Kitsch', as in trinkets and IDOLS strewn about?

Yeah, and do you really believe God can fit inside a little square room in the jewish temple? Do you think a spirit trapped in a box is really the creator of all that exists? The whole thing is just an extension of the babylonian religion. The eating of bread and drinking of wine was also in the epic of gilgamesh, which is babylonian.

The ideas in your head were in some else head before you.

Gobekli Tepe is the world's oldest temple, it dates from 10,000 BC

What are the heck are you talking about, no one says God can only "fit" in a parish, the point of the building is to have a house completely dedicated to worship, not to "fit" God in.

Yeah, Babylonians invented wine and bread

...

I had a dream where I went down the basement of abandoned house with noticeable water damaged yet relatively up-kept. In one room there were Orthodox icons all over the walls and tables and dressers. One icon that stood out in my dream was of the Virgin Mary. While all the others icons were varying shades of gold with splashes of muted colors, she was dressed in a white robe and had a white crown. She was overlayed on a silver white (almost heavenly) background. The whole icon was framed in silver. She was looking forward to the viewer with open arms.

What did my dream mean by this?

Pic sort of related but it doesn't do my dream justice.

very related

she's inviting you to dedicate your life to chastity and become a monk

Somebody doesn't understand the difference between the Catholic and Latin Church.

Are you going into a large cathedral or a small town church?

Because I've been in Catholic churches that range in quality from rented highschool gym space to massive towering cathedral with a 12 foot golden Crucifix...That's pretty kitschy actually.

My Orthodox parish is pretty small, but the Catholic parish I've been to, while by no means a Cathedral, was very large.

>Gobekli Tepe
A pile of rocks it's not really a proper temple.

Anyway if that construction is indeed built around 10 000 BC and it's pretty obvious that it had spiritual role ( many animal bones around indeed show they were scarified ) + some of the animals are depicted on rocks.

Then bible is wrong, Jesus was wrong. As the first man walked the earth 7500 years ago - so if we have groups of humans walking the earth and building temples 2500 years earlier than that, everything is just a lie and we waste time.

Also don't respond to obvious trolls.

You can feel God in the middle of these orthodox priests lmao.

It's not just a pile of rocks, what are you talking about. it's not Stonehenge

Many animals are depicted, but not as idols, they are carvings on the rock. The actual place of worship didn't have any object.

Learn to pray the rosary and the sacred heart devotion

The whole point of the babylonian religion was to lure people into the religion by teaching them to eat bread and drink wine. That is the exact same stupid shit christians do. You're religion is self condemning.

What the hell was that circus performance from the catholics?!
How the fuck is that not disrespectful?!

Don't fucking equate 3rd world churches with Catholicism.

You're dumb boy.

You are religion is self condemning
>you're.

You're very dumb boy.

...

Because Brazil, they're almost completely autonomous and ran by the government.

...

That's like saying, "Don't equate Slavic churches with Orthodoxy!"

Don't fucking equate opulence with Jesus Christ.

This is an interesting detail from the Sistine Chapel

So is this, it's the Catholic idea of reverence posture

Imagine if someone painted the Virgin Mary in a pose like this, without any clothes on

go to
rule34.xxx

type in virgin_mary

>Believing that any physical interaction between men is inmediately gay

Whatever happened to brotherly love?

>Orthodox fag complaining about kitsch

It's like if niggers started a church.

Indeed you're on point with
>It's like if niggers started a church.

But they're slavic churches - actually the Byzantines one are pretty cool just like the catholic ones from first worlds are amazing.

Modern American orthodox churches tried to resurrect that pristine byzantine architecture and style and some looks pretty nice.

No because expressing yourself through art/architecture/decour is very spiritual.

That's not a brotherly kiss, it's two men in the heat of passion.

We Orthodox do that as well. I mean the Catholic aesthetic seems very kitsch. To me, at least
