Thanks guys.
Moomins on the Riviera.
Princess Mononoke is the GOAT.
Trigger warning.
This shit blew me away. Considering the tv show is just upbeat sol, the change in tone for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya really hits hard and made the experience so much better. It's fucking great, I watch it every December
girls und panzer
Song of the Sea
Do I need to watch the show? And why the fuck is glasses girl holding on to Kyon like that? She's some fucking space secret agent why is she holding on to Kyon so pathetically?
Thanks. Will try there next time!
She isn't a secret agent. What are you on about?
Yes you need to watch the show to get the context. Some have it as their entry point to the series.
Show's pretty based. The Slice-of-life meme is mostly a lie and when it does go SOL it gets kino
*some have the movie as their entry point
I read the manga adaptation for a few chapters before dropping it. She represents these gigantic planet sized conscious beings who are interested in Haruhi's ability to inadvertently alter reality. She is there to make sure Haruhi never becomes aware of her powers. So it looks stupid to me that she's holding on to Kyon so pathetically.
>Yes you need to watch the show to get the context
Fuck. Never mind.
You need to watch season 1 or else it would be confusing.
Looking for some movies from the same time and feel as Akira and Ghost in the shell.
MEGAZONE 23.
get some 80s kino Transformers
Patlabor 2
Magnetic Rose
Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade
Both Patlabor 2 and Jin Roh are Oshii projects.
Yeah you gotta watch the show for context. Honestly, the first season and one arc of the second season will do, that arc being the one where Kyon goes back in time
If you can find the time to do it, it'll be worth it. The movie is really good.
Az Ember Tragédiája
If your fine with OVAs, Gunbuster is a must watch. It's 6 episodes so it's not too long. The finale was pure kino. This shit basically defined the mecha genre too
magnetic rose is pretty great
>anime
KUBO
Probably doesn't belong here but if you don't mind anime I recommend Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal. It's a 4 part mini series that's about 2 hours long. The animation and music is wonderful and the plot is great. I don't even watch anime and was actually satisfied with it.
Please recommend some 80's~70's anime movies. I've seen most of whats been said already, just wondering if theres some darker ones i havent seen yet.
Urotsukidōji.

For some reason, WTWB was infinitely more crushing when I watched it. It could be since I had just rewatched Threads before watching it.

i feel guilty for liking this
It's so fucking good, one of my favorite movies of all time.
Isn't there a TV show coming out?
An animated movie thread? Welcome to my domain....
One of my favorites is Sword of the Stranger. It's an animated movie, but the choreography is amazing. It reminds me almost of Ong Bak 2, in how the choreography wasn't just amazing, the film actually had heart and it wasn't jsut brainless fighting for no reason. That ending fight in SotS is one of the best, probably the best ending battle sequence in any animated film, and most live action films as well. It's hand drawn and very fluid and serene almost.
Princess: This one is a Danish animated film from 2006. Don't watch this one with kids. The Princess in the title is actually a porn star, and the porn business is a focus in the film. But there isn't much I can say that won't spoil it. I'll just say this film can stir up a lot of uncomfortable feelings. There are some scenes that if they had been done with a live child actor, they'd be among the most controversial scenes of all time. The controversy isn't what makes it good though, it's genuinely a well thought out film. It mixes live action scenes, mostly in flashback sequences and all the present day stuff is animated. I'd say 85% of the film is animated. It's rough animation but after the first five mins you will get used to it. You can expect some violent action, but nothing too over the top. Even though it's animated, the action is a little more grounded and the violence is realistic, and some scenes are extremely brutal.
Estrogen bag detected.
ugh, I tried watching that one and almost fell asleep. Same thing with the Howling Castle movie. The airplane retirement movie was great, and I expected that one to be a literal sleeper due to the reviews.

Pretty much anything by Miyazaki. Other than that, Mulan and Aladdin are the best Disney kinos IMO.
Nobody aver replies to me so I feel like it's not super popular but I endorse this at every opportunity
someone already mentioned this.
Kirikou ad the sorceress
its about the ultimate alpha
My niggas, should have checked the thread before posting, nobody ever mentions Watership Down or The Plague Dogs and they're both amazing and devastating
Yeah I got a bit ahead of myself but I've never seen Plague Dogs mentioned here. Superior to Watership Down by a country mile
American Pop
this movie is kinda half baked but it's a real fun trip.
Most Bakshi is some acid trip kino
