People unironically think that world wars were the worst things that happened to Europe

Black Death killed 50% of population of the continent. 50%, let that sink in.

What did those pockets that were immune do right? Build walls?

Yeah, but back then there were only 5 farmers, 3 sheep, a cow and a few chickens.

>50%
>Fifty PERCENT.

That's like five WHOLE sets of TEN.

Can we have another one pls

OPEN BORDERS YOU RACIST

#PLAGUE SUFFERERS WELCOME

can't explain poland but milan went full "purge it and everything next to it with fire".

The Black Death was a blessing in disguise. It destroyed feudalism and allowed the remaining workers to bargain with their employers for better jobs and benefits.

>implying black death wasn't natural selection on steroids
There is a reason why the Mesoamericans got sick from European contact and not the way around.

It killed catalonia forever

Poison the well.

we had a based king during that period which could explain why we handled the threat very well

No it wasn't tens of millions of people died. Whole cities ceased to exists. There were no one to govern them, no one to keep law, no one to farm for food.

So the solution was to murder anyone with even the slightest symptoms right?

Based Poles being based even back then...

The map only covers a very short time frame. Milan was hit so badly 300 years after this that it was colloquially called "The Great Plague of Milan":

Don't dare to say that you racist!

#plaguelivesmatter

they poo in the loo. rest of yurope had designated shitting streets

Same diesease but not Black Death as the pandemic was called. 2/3 population of Helsinki died to the plague in the 1700.

Well it is said that it was a seed for renessaince but one can hardly call it blessing. It took hundreds of years to recover from the horror.

This

>"B-b-b-but muh poor [insert minority] didn't know disease until the white man came, that was how they won. They cheated, they're just lucky not more intelligent"

I'll take "what are tropical diseases" for 500, Alex.

>Danholt Drumpf, wealthy landowner, has called for the building of a wall
>"They’re bringing plague. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
>His comments have drawn the ire of local scholars and clergy who have called them "insensitive, discriminatory and quite frankly very dangerous"

that's how Milanese dealt with it, I think we were just lucky and some random factor like having different rats helped us to avoid a full scale plague.

This

Poland got off easy because of lack of trade and communication with the rest of the world.

...

Jews don't shit where they eat

Don't forget the plagues and climate change that resulted in massive famines and population movement from the steppes to Europe after the end of the Western Roman Empire.

>70% population loss between 300 and 700AD
>Population of Rome goes from 1 million to 1 thousand

Imagine the empty streets. The empty cities. Barbarians taking up residence in valleys where a small roman family resides in their ancestral villa, not even going so far as to have to wage war on them or spare a thought for their history because there is enough room to live while the original inhabitants look on feeling only that they must be cursed.

kek

well, we got syphilis from them

I would believe that if the plague didn't reach moscow and finland. I agree that it should be a big factor but it definitely was not the main reason.

the modern black death is worse

Black Death didn't hit Finland that gif is actually somewhat incorrect. Backwater places like Poland, Iceland and Finland were pretty much not affected.

Oh no you dindu did what I just think you did you infinite madman

So, Detroit.

Rome was pretty crazy though. At the reign of Augustus it had a population of 1 million. It would take 1800 years before a city (London) got as big as it was.

Well of course the Plague of Justinian was the first plague pandemic and it was total horror also. I've read some theories that the Byzantium could have reunited West Rome permanently without the plague.

The gif is only the 2nd pandemic, which only lasted a few years because it killed all of its hosts. (The first was the Plague of Justinian.)

After the 2nd pandemic, it returned at regular intervals, often incredibly deadly but usually somewhat "localized."

>Sup Forums always brings up The Black Death
>never remembers The Spanish Flu

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_flu_pandemic

There's difference between absolute and relative numbers. If 70-80% of a city is gone it's pretty much different.

The World Wars are more relevant.

Totally, and it required the efforts of a maritime empire which controlled the entire Mediterranean to ship food from both Egypt and Africa to feed all those people at all.

I think it definitely could. It all comes down to the Roman economy and it's resilience though. It could have recovered after the economic disasters of the second century, but the plague devastated what remained.

>asserted the former virus was likely to have come from China, mutating in the United States near Boston and spreading to Brest, France, Europe's battlefields, Europe...

thanks America

Jews confirmed responsible to try to exterminate Europeans.

Did the Mongols reverse genocide white people like the colonists with smallpox and the Indians?

black plague today would be = to 320million deaths in Europe.

>Feudalism
>bad

really makes you think huh

So, this was worse than WW2, so why are people so traumatized after WW2?

Daily reminder that the plague was imported from Asia by you guess who...

The Jews?

From what I've heard, it's just quarantine. Casimir III ordered all travelers to stay on the border for a few weeks, in case they developed known symptoms of the plague. If any of them did, they're out. If not, they could go in.

Polish rats survive on vokda, just like a regular Pole. Those rats were impervious to flee bites, because the flees would die from alcohol poisoning before passing the disease along.

The alcohol also did well at sanitizing the bites.

oy vey remember the 6 gorillion

>Population of Rome goes from 1 million to 1 thousand

I've never heard that before, and I can't find a source

This is basic History

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Rome

I just looked it up. The population decreased from 30 000 to 17 000 from 1000bc to 1347bc. Definitely not the 1 million to 1 thousand exaggeration

>Irish interior infected
4/10 shitty gif

>kek
BTW the kek thing isn't just fags that got bored with lel, it's fag satanists and their ignorant tools who want pain and suffering because they're pathetic shitbags. Don't buy in, watch youtu.be/XXRC4TfmHEs?t=15m and make up your own mind. Also look into Manly P Hall's freemason plan for 3 world wars, with the 3rd being to instigate war between islam and christianity.

>between 300 and 700AD

stfu pino, there still weren't only one thousand citizens

Isn't bc before christ?

It's clear
We need a black plague in africa
Then quarantine the whole continent

Underrated

Rome whent from a height of 1.6 million circa 160ad to about 30k 600 years later

That's fucking significant drop

What about the rapeugee cucking crisis and don't forget Feminism and political correctness.

This tbqh. Also the reason the Industrial Revolution happened in Europe and not, say, India.
