Haven't seen anything pop up in my windows processes, but how fucked am I and what can I do? Any anti virus software? I haven't needed one in years.

Your computer could probably benefit from a fresh Windows re-install anyway.

man, I use this for editing and extensive projects, I don't have time for all that, getting my work flow back would be a nightmare

Oh, you will have time.
Once those projects stop opening, you will have plenty of time

Kek
Windows reinstall really is your best option. How long will that take? like 4-5 hours?

nice dubs.

user is correct here. a fresh install every couple years is recommended. especially in your situation. do it before you also need new hardware, there's no telling what that file just did. consider the possibility that it adjusted your cpu fan speed or something similar.

approximatley 30-45 minutes. time I am used to.

deleting system 32 would fix it

I am sure that 90% of Sup Forums is long aware of this trollbait and knows not to delete system 32

>4-5 hours
It isn't the reinstall that is the issue, its the fact that my entire work flow will be fucked up. You have no idea how many programs and plugins and shorthands I have in place.

I just did a resinstall last year. I usually don't even need anti virus software I just find it in the task manager then just delete it in safe mode.

>I don't need anti-virus
>gets virus from shitty torrent discipline
ok user

aiming for that special 10% though

You fuckin noob OP jesus christ
Fucked up your work comp trying to watch some normie tv bullshit
What the fuck is wrong with you?
Know what? Dont reinstall. Just run some useless scan and pretend it never happened. Thats probably more your speed.

trust the dubs op, trust the dubs

So I found it, seems to be a bitcoin miner.

What software did you use?

Be less stupid next time.

too soon

Posting on my phone...
What just happened to my computer?
There's some blue screen, help please.

Look user, if reinstalling now is a fuck ton of work and a hassle, it's going to be even more work and hassle later on when you can't work at all and lose access to your projects all together.

If it's THIS much of a problem, you need to fix your setup sooner rather than later. How about you make that fresh install, add all of that shit you need for your workflow, then make a snapshot of your machine in that particular state. From then on, all you need to do for a clean re-install is restore your snapshot and install whatever system updates you missed since then.

On the other hand... last time I installed updates on an out-of-date windows system it took well over 24 hours for all of them to get installed... so just starting from scratch might actually be quicker.

Or you know, get on fucking linux.

Or maybe that bitcoin miner has been there for the past 6 months and the new thing is still lurking out there, sending all your passwords and creditcard credentials to mother Russia.

It's much faster on Win 10 than the old days of day long updates, OP is just a lazy fag.

That's what you'd think, my 24+ update round was on windows 10, on a system with a relatively new i7 processor (maybe 2 years old?), 16 gigs of ram, an SSD with up to 1500 MB/s write speed and a 100Mbit internet connection... so it can't have been a matter of slow hardware or crappy internet connection either.
You'd think somewhere along the way that poor machine got some time to cool off while I was sleeping, but when I woke up it was working on the same fucking update queue as when I hit the sack. Really, this one was just a case of Microsoft doing a plain fucking awful job.

could just be a pack codec pack being installed by the video player

or a virus

just do a virus scan and check if anything strange is running in task manager

Pretty sure I found and killed it. Running kaspersky to be safe.

Do you know how long it takes to move files to an external? It would take 3 hours just for the projects in the actual desk top folder. MyYouTube editing folder is 93 gigs.
