>the downs

Still four downs, but this time, go for 15 yards and not 10. Teams will be more forced to play fourth downs

No, it just means that punts will be more common.

Is HE HATE ME gonna be a coach or something?
He's the only thing anyone remembers about the first XFL.

>the motions/scrimmages

For the offense, don't flag false starts but offsides, as the players can move before the snap but can't enter into the neutral zone. That means that a lineman can move sidely, can move his hands, but must not go ahead before the snap. Or can if he starts inches behind.

7 players (linemen + 2 WRs) must be on the line of scrimmage, the others (RBs, TE, QB, third WR) can do whatever they want behind it (at 1 yard or more).

>No Intentional grounding
>Clock never stops except for a first down and the following rule
>a group of referees are reviewing each camera at all times and can overrule the field refs
>biggest change, only 3 downs. You get it or you don't.

No-Holds Barred, field is surrounded by a steel cage

>downs
4 downs
>motions/scrimmages
same as NFL
>catches
if you have the ball in your hand and 2 feet touch the ground you caught it, no exceptions
>punts and kickoffs
no more traditional kickoffs, punt from some spot on a 4th and 25
>field goals
3 points each unless it's a 60+ then it's 4
>conversions
idk what you mean
>clock
25 second play clock
>helmets and shields
can have custom helmets whenever you want
>points
TDs are 7 points automatically and the 2 PAT would only be worth 1, 3 point FGs with a 60+ being 4, 17 point safeties cause fuck you
>rosters/drafts
100 round drafts
>franchises
have them all be in Connecticut with one random team in Utica NY
>flags
the flags are purple instead of yellow
>challenges
each team gets one challenge, if they lose it the lose possesion of the ball
>video reviews
are limited to 1 minute
>exclusions
no more cheerleaders
>other stuff
add a 12th player onto the field, a 2nd QB for the offense and another LB for the defense

It depends on what you do with the other components, as for example easier catches. For example :

>the catches
A catch is good :
>on every condition when a pass is complete in the NFL
>if you kneel with the ball on your hand and control it without a contact between the ball and the ground (so we don't care if you "use the ground" to control the ball) in the movement. It means that if your knee is on the ground and you touch the ball without controlling it, and then you touch the ball again and catch is, the pass is complete
>if you step twice on the field while catching the ball, even if the ball isn't totally under control, as long as you still have it when you go out of bounces. It means that the battle for the ball continues out of bounces and that if a defended forces the fumble before two steps (in or out the bounces) with total control of the ball, the pass is incomplete

Do we also need to consider a step in bounces if only but all the heel of the foot makes contact with the green part (just like if the white part is empty and the green part a bridge) ?

>if you have the ball in your hand and 2 feet touch the ground you caught it, no exceptions
So can I jump over the bounces and catch a ball in the air, where a defender can't touch me because it is out of bounces ? Seems like handball

>conversions
I mean, old XFL had only conversions and no PAT, and some anons have ideas about that.

Anyone else hoping they somehow get Nike on board for the unis? I don't want some cheap Reebok gear.

jump over what now?
if you catch the ball when it's in the air and there's two feet on the ground in bounds it's yours
period

I guess that the new XFL wants to make modern jerseys, get rid of the simple "old school college font"

So no "does he controls the ball" bullshit I guess

Can life be this good?
Also, two minutes left in the 4th quarter, tables ladders and chairs.

>the tackles

QBs need to be protected for the quality of the game, so it's forbidden to hit their helmet. But because they need to feel the pressure and because viewers want visual hits, you can use your helmet on their chest, but only there.

Still forbidden to tackle directly under the belt (legs) but you can go tripping who has the ball

Helmet to helmet hits still forbidden, but you can use your head as a lineman to push a defender. The DE/DT/LB can put his hands on the top of the lineman's helmet but can't grab it.

>the downs
Keep it at 4, but can only punt if your behind your own 35
>the motions/scrimmages
First line of >the catches
2 Steps with control then you're a runner, 2 feet in bounds and controlled before you hit the ground if you let go from the ground its a fumble. Also both feet have to touch or be in the goal line for any TD. none of this breaking the plain bs. runners included. Ball is in play for fumble only while in air(no forward pass montion) and after a catch is concidered complete.
>the tackles
No deliberate head on head or diving crown first. Also no stop of forward motion to determin down
>the punts and kickoffs
Punts - only if your behind your own 35. Kick offs.
Kick offs - No touch backs. iF ball is kick into endzone of out of bounds placed at 35yd line
No fair catch - let it hit the ground if your too afraid to catch it but accidental contact from bouces dont count towards turn overs
>the field goals
Any player can kick it by themselves to get it in
placer kicker only if outside of redzone - 20 yard long snap
>the conversions
Make them worth 3-4 pts
>the clock
Shorter play clock - slightly extended for first downs, no spiking or kneeing. have to play the down.
>the helmets and shields
Don't care
>the points
Safeties worth 6 pts
>the rosters/drafts
Dont care
>the franchises (what/where)
dont care
>the flags
No roughing the kicker/qb, intentional grounding
>the challenges
2 per game - uses time outs
>the video reviews
Scoring plays only.
>the exclusions

>the other stuffs
Only 4 time outs all game

A ton of meme suggestions in this thread. I'll give my take.

Kickoffs are stupid and bad
youtube.com/watch?v=t_SsIKgwvz4
They're replaced by 4th and 10 by the scoring team at the 20 yard line

The catch rule makes sense but is also bullshit
youtube.com/watch?v=iLqMCT7yTVY
Ball can touch the ground, but you can't use the ground to catch the ball

Have a dedicated video ref, but video reviews should be used sparingly and limited to under a minute. If it's not obvious, you're not gonna make everybody happy anyways, so just keep the call on the field.

Pre snap penalties don't really need changes, they don't usually call plays back and I think are often interesting. PI/OPI can be frustrating, but it's part of the heart of the game, seems impossible to make more objective than it is now, and is a fun type of debate. Holding is what needs to be fixed. It's far too common, is not at all noticed by the fans during the play, and gets great plays called back when it often feels irrelevant. I don't have a fix for this, but it'd be a huge win if they improve this particular flag.

Other than ref bullshit, game doesn't need to be quicker, but if that's what you wanted, running the clock on incomplete passes until 2 minute warning would be all you need.

If you want player safety, require more equipment, not just because more equipment is safer, but more so to slow down the players so full speed collisions don't happen.

If they really want to mix things up, I'd say make the game more like the backyard football everyday fans like me play. That doesn't seem likely so I won't bother getting into that vision.

Where does Mark Cuban place his team?

>the punts
A fair catch on a punt makes the returning team lose five yards but on the endzone (touchback, go to the 20).
>the kickoffs
Keep having kickofs with possibility of onside kick, with less commercials it won't annoy. For onside kicks, allow the kicker to push the ball. The ball can be put horizontally as it is easier to kick onside moving his foot with the ball that way
>the field goals
What about you have to punt the ball into the posts instead of kicking with a holder, like a drop in rugby ? Punts are less precise, but higher so you can avoid better the opponents. What is better ?
>the conversions
No PAT, only conversions. Also, if the TD snap was further than 20 yards, you can choose between a 1pt conversion from 1 yard, a 2pts conversion from 5 yards and a 3pts conversion from 10 yards. I it was between 11 and 20 yards, you can choose between the 1pt and the 2pts conversion. If it was from 10 yards or less, you only can play the 1pt conversion.
If intercepted, the D can score the amount of points called at first.

>no cheerleaders
>same pussified tom brady rules as nfl
fag

No more replay review from a computer tower, when they do that shit in the nfl it takes years and they get to jew you with an additional commercial break.

>Shields
This has potential

No rules

I don't think a meme organization will cut it for Nike. It's either Reebok or some Chinese no name brand.

>Cuban

No, keep that loud mouthed bitch away. Having to deal with him in the NBA is enough.

"You're watching the XFL brought to you by the Big Baller Brand"

But i thought vince didn't want any of the wwe gimmicks in it

...

LESS STALL
MORE BALL

FEWER
INFRACTIONS

Vince said no criminals allowed

>the downs
4 downs
>the motions/scrimmages
same as NFL
>the catches
Only need 1 foot in
>the tackles
Same as NFL. Can't have insane hits in the CTE age.
>the punts and kickoffs
kickoffs from further back to encourage longer returns.
can only punt when on your own side of the 50
>field goals
worth 3
>the clock
25 second playclock
>the helmets and shields
invest in cutting edge helmets. beat the NFL at the safety game. encourages old vets to come play a game they aren't going to get killed playing.
>the points
no PATs. 1 point conversion from 5 yardline instead.
>the rosters/drafts
>the franchises (what/where)
>the flags
less of them. virtually no taunting flags.
>the challenges
only in 4Q
>the video reviews
only in 4Q
>the exclusions

>the other stuffs

>4 downs
>no punting, you must attempt all 4th downs
>Final game of the season is a steel cage ladder match

>or some Chinese no name brand.
So, Nike or Reebok.

Forgot:
>the drafts
Draft kids out of high school. Brand yourself as a developmental league to see the next generation of stars. Puts the NCAA on notice.

>the franchises
1. Austin
2. San Diego
3. Oakland
4. Norfolk
5. New York/New Jersey
6. Birmingham
7. Orlando
8. Chicago

be more lenient on what is a catch for sure.

remove kickoffs and extra points and timeouts and halftimes all that shit that slows the game to a crawl, youve got a 53 man roster use it

>no more cheerleaders
nigga u gay

Play it's equivalent of the superbowl at london

How do you think it'll do? Do you think it'll at least do better than last time?

>the clock
25 seconds to snap a down
2 halfs of 30 minutes
10 minutes halftime
30 seconds when it is a turnover or a TD
If a pass is incomplete, run the clock
If the ball goes out with a complete pass or a run, stop the clock
When the huddle ends, run the clock no matter what, even after a timeout
Four timeouts for the entire game
You can ask for an immediate spike, losing you a down but stopping the clock
Put a commercial timeout at one minute before the half/game
At the last minute of a half/game, the clock stops if the ball doesn't cross the line of scrimmage or if a pass is incomplete (no victory formation)

If one team is too far ahead, a 3rd team should be allowed to run on to the field and attack them with steel chairs

>the points

Safety : 2 points
Field goal : 3 points
TD : 6 points
Conversion from 1 yard : +1 point
Conversion from 5 yards : +2 points
Conversion from 10 yards : +3 points

But as mentionned here you can choose the longer conversions only if you scored the TD by more than 10/20 yards

Underrated post.

>>the rosters/drafts
The XFL will start after the end of the college playoffs, some players will be injured in September/October/November and could be back for February, an extra paycheck could be good for those players (if they are able to play of course).
For the first year, make drafts per position, and afterwards, 5 rounds of draft will be enough within the NFL rejects and college impatients. Don't forget the only reason there's no 19 yards old player in the NFL is because there's an agreement between the NCAA and the NFL. If the XFL proposes 2-years contracts to college players, they will watch in another way their cursus.
College players could even make two years in college, then make a year of two in the XFL, and then going back to college with more experience for the two remaining years.
And, of course, have a practice squad with other good college players and potential european cracks.
XFL should even have partnerships with high schools

>the franchises (what/where)
The 8 starters :

Cleveland
>They need some real football
St Louis
>NFL reject, stadium ready, we already know there's room for a pro team
St Antonio
>McMahon already has connections with the owner of the Alamo Dome (with some PPVs there and one of the best Wrestlemania ever) and Texas is big enough
Orlando
>Same reasons, Florida is big too
San Francisco/Bay Area
>There's no team in SF, Santa Clara isn't in Bay Area. Also, no baseball in winter, so the field will only be grass
City of New York
>no East Rutherford bullshit, put the team at the Yankee Stadium with the NYC FC
A team in the mountains
>Colorado, New Mexico, Utah or Arizona
A team in the East Coast
>Virginias, Carolinas or Tennessee/Kentucky

Expansion teams :

Chicago
>make a true rivalry between them and Cleveland
San Diego
>let them wait and desire this team for a few years
Boston
>wait until the Patriots lose Brady and Belichick
Detroit, Buffalo or Indianapolis
>let it snow
Portland
Atlanta
New Orleans
Birmingham

XFL should try to do something in Europe too, as leagues are growing here. Not necessarily full-pro teams, but at least good paychecks. TV networks are ready here to hype people about simplier football and if the influence is big enough, even the european federations could stop follow NCAA's rules and take XFL's
London obviously needs a team
Paris is a great market too
Amsterdam has proven a dutch team can make fans
Two teams in Germany (Frankfurt and Berlin are the best options as the Ruhr valley will support Frankfurt and the rest of Germany will propably follow Berlin)
Poland truely needs a team
Italy too
and the last team must be in Austria

(OP)
>the downs
4 downs, 10 yards
>the motions/scrimmages
Literally anything you want. 11 men on the field and that's that. Have as many people moving at the snap with as few or as many linemen as you want. Let's inspire some creative plays instead of basically preset formations.
>the catches
Only 1 foot needed. If the ground knocks it out of your hands, it's a fumble.
>the tackles
No crown of the helmet hits. Everything else is fine.
>the punts and kickoffs
kickoffs from further back, no fair catches
>field goals
worth 3 with less wide uprights
>the clock
25 second playclock
>the points
no PATs. 1 point conversion from 4 yard line instead or 2 points from the 14; 3 points from the 24, and so on until 5 points at the 44.
>the flags
less flags. Encourage taunting and playing hard.
>the challenges
NFL rules but only in the last two minutes of 1st half and last 5 of 2nd half
>the video reviews
only in 4th quarter

can we just have 2x25 instead of 4x15?

is it going to be fake like wrestling?

yes just like the NFL

You should be able to drop kick from play for 5 points
