English

Why would I when I know the only language that actually matters in 2017?

Mandarin for English speakers is supposed to go live next month so I'm hoping to use that to top up my existing knowledge.

one step closer to freedom

Fuck you faggot, get culturally enriched and learn something new, aka a language, you cunt. Also it will help with women as it will make you even look half interesting, i mean you seem like a virgin cunt.

>tfw this will never happen

>learning mandarian

OH NO NO NO NO NO HUUUUAAAAAHHHH....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Kaisermania sounds amazing

I'm kind of absorbing Catalan. I speak Spanish and I've started reading articles about the whole Catalan independence thing in Catalan. I look up the words I don't already understand and figure it out that way.

I need to work on the verb conjugations though, you don't pick them all up from reading the news.

French but it is tres difficile.

>"uh, what's something else from Germany?"

Is there any reason I should learn French if I already speak a couple other Romance languages? I know it's the official language of a lot of international entities, but they typically have more than one official language so I don't think it's really a big deal.

I don't know what to say. I am learning French because I want to read pic related and some other books in French. I am also interested in talking to frenchies in online games.

where do you live ?

Novosibirsk, Russia. Why?

wanted to know if you were somewhat close(r) to france
I imagine all russians learning french being from st. Petersbourg

>I imagine all russians learning french being from st. Petersbourg
Really? Why Petersburg of all cities?

Not him but probably because it seen as the only "cultured" city of Russia

>the only "cultured" city of Russia
DELETE THIS

Rude

That actually makes sense. Historically, St. Petersburg was the Mecca of "cultured" Russian society. The intelligentsia often spoke French among themselves rather than Russian.

Adopting western customs doesn't equal becoming cultured.

I'm not saying it does, but tell that to Russian high society of the 1800s.

I wish I could. We would've avoided so much pain and suffering if they had been told that by someone.

>never was into duolingo
>went there because of this thread
>took the spanish placement test because I took spanish for 4 years
>got one mistake because I answered "por nada" instead of "de nada" for you're welcome and the stupid owl said it was wrong
>tfw it said I was only 53% fluent
REEEEEEEEEEEEE

An amusing side effect is the necessity of a French dictionary when reading some Russian classics. You've probably come across it yourself, the Russian text of the story will be interrupted by a line of dialogue in French.

>le 53% face

I'm zero percent white. Never call me that again.
And mongrels are the master race:

Yes, I know what you are talking about. Thankfully, most of those old books were republished in the USSR with translation of the French words in the bottom of the page.
