Brady's drop

what about the seahawks thing

I'm not sure you'll find many things that actually reasonably compare. There was way too much going into Gerrard's slip than just the slip itself.

this. taken in isolation it's just a humiliating fuckup in a crucial game, but you get a couple of those per season in every league. it's the context of
>this does not fucking slip
>how far in front they'd been
>he'd never won a PL title
>he'd let opposing strikers in like this in high-profile games before
>he was clearly over the hill by this point but his fans had been insisting he was still world-class
that make it a completely unique error

Also he was a local boy and had played his whole career for them

It's not near as significant since Liverpool haven't won a championship in the current format of their league and Gerrard played his whole career without winning one

...

He was their captain and one of the best players of England at the time having won every trophy for Liverpool except the PL and this was his last chance.

This is much worse than the Gerrard slip though lol

probably the best NFL comparison

Holy shit

my word, that's incredible
guess he didn't play much in the nhl after that?

Wide Right
similar in that taken by itself, it cost them a crucial game
but it also set them up to become the laughingstock of the league for 25+ years
it got so bad the team was going to shut down due to lack of funding

That one time Gerrard slipped.

What i'm I looking at here?

They just needed to get over the line to win the game, instead of running the ball (with one of the best runners in the league) they opted for a pass which got intercepted and lost.

So that's what the guy from Curb did.

>you should be embarrassed for what you just did

Cam Newton not diving on a fumble is more fitting

That was his last NHL season, yeah. He was drafted 1st overall in '99 and didn't have the superstar performance everyone expected. A really decent hockey player though. It's too bad this is what he's remembered for.

>On this day, 10 years ago, Patrik Stefan of the Dallas Stars some how missed a wide open net and even though the Stars went on to win the game, it remains as one of the most embarrassing and hilarious moments in NHL history.

Not even close to Slippy G levels. They still won the game.

How did nobody post the Hasslebeck play?

In overtime Matt Hasslebeck wins the coin toss and says “we want the ball and we’re gonna score!” He then proceeds to throw a pick six to lose the game.

The Fumble is objectively worse by that criteria
Browns are more of a laughing stock, Browns did get shut down, Bills went to 3 more Owls after that, Browns went to just 1 more championship game and lost in a meme fashion again to the same team.
Lastly fumbling is more embarassing than missing field goals cause kicking is lame and boring

Plus, if you remember, Sup Forums was overrun by gloating Liverpoop fans because the league was 'nailed' on and every thread was even worse than usual. The slip was a beautiful thing.

>Player drafted first overall ends his career missing an open-net goal to end the game with less than 10 seconds remaining on the clock which the opponents take advantage of and score
Might not have had the same impact on the team, but it marred Stefan's name and continues to be one of the most famous hockey highlights in Canada. I'd say that the damage to Stefan's image was WAY worse than Gerrard's.

Gerrard’s was worse because it didn’t only affect him.

Seahawks had a 2 score lead and were basically celebrating on the sidelines. The patriots took the lead back. By a fluke play, the Seahawks got back in position to win it and turned it over instead (and had a chimp out after said turnover) which let the patriots win.

In baseball, the Yankees blowing a 3-0 lead has to be up there. Warriors blowing a 3-1 championship series lead

It also screwed the Oilers out of Patrick Kane

Baseball

>referee lining up at safety
RIGGED

Is this supposed to be like "the worst play of all time"? Because for hockey i can think of a bunch of times players have almost died on the ice

...

No. That's just sad, not embarrassing.

No, it just has to be personally embarrassing to the player involved, preferably with a degree on irony. Gerard said "this does not slip" in the team huddle, and then he slipped on the pitch allowing the opposing team to score and essentially losing liverpool the league.

Literally best way to end a career. And Buckner wasn’t even too bad of a player. Just became irrelevant after that play
