Just came back from cinema and goddamn dialogue was really bad. visual was good and action sequences were alright(gaysha scene was kino) it was flick. 5.5/10 at best
Just came back from cinema and goddamn dialogue was really bad...
Wrong. It's one of the best films of the year
Scarlett "two burgers and regular coke" Johansson
You're wrong. It was a 5.7, maybe even a 5.8
I'd say it was a 6. The plot felt super shallow and unengaging, but the visuals and action more than made up for it
Wondering if people critical of GITS 2017 have seen the original? It's very plot-light, full of contrived philosophical dialogue, weak characters, eh
pretty much how I feel about it there is plenty of good stuff in there but the script let it all down
I don't think it has weak characters. The other two yeah, but Major Motoko and the Puppet Master in it at least are far stronger than Major Mira and Kuze in this.
Though I suppose you actually get better characterisation for Section 9 and Batou in this than you do in the first film.
Beat Takeshi phoned in his performance. He looked bored as fuck and wasn't even with the main cast half the movie.
Agree. Its been a long time since I enjoyed myself in the cinema. A really fun movie.
>Dumbed down plot.
>uninspired visuals
>aping original's scenes, but out of context
>didn't hire an Asian actress and then reveals the character is actually Asian at the end
This movie is a train wreck.
scarlet johansson is such a lame actress
Damn you're right. I just couldn't listen to it. Don't remember the last time when I had that strong impression that there's script behind these dialogues.
Agree 100%.
Also it was simply stupid that all cast talked to him in English, but he replied in Japanese.
Who talks like that?
What a bland flick.
>Uninspired visuals
Fuck off. It had great art direction.
>Didn't hire an Asian actress and then reveals the character is actually Asian at the end.
>At the end
You haven't actually seen it, have you?
Oh, lol, my bad, neon Blade Runner cyber virtual world that looks like every other dystopian future movie and occasionally for some scenes looking like GITS is totally inspired. My mistake.
>You haven't actually seen it, have you?
I have, have you?
Yes I have.
She knows she's actually asian by the middle of the film.
And it doesn't look like 'every other dystopian movie', it looks a bit like Bladerunner, but you'd expect that. The Geisha puppets looked great, the costume design and makeup prosthetics was usually on point, and the sets were pretty nice as well.
Just because you don't find the cyberpunk aesthetic appealing doesn't mean they did a bad job.
>gaysha
Err... excuse me gaijin it's spelled GEISHA.
Pff... you wouldn't last five fricking minutes in Nihon...............
honestly, major is a lame character too. Any pretty face could play her
major is not even a pretty face. you sound ignorant.
>Major is not even a pretty face.
Well. She does have a pretty face, user.
>won't top $45m domestic and isn't burning up the charts elsewhere, that's another case of a decent performance in China not being enough to change the narrative and put the film into the black. It's not xXx: Return of Xander Cage or Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
lel can't even compete with LITERAL schlock
Drop it already shills, FF8 your jew princess lost
They really really did a shit job casting her for that role. She acts the part like a 12 year old girl who just finished her amateur actor classes would act a robot.
should have cast Rinko and gone for a lighter tone than Mamuro's 2 deep 4 u
>cyberpunk aesthetic
ok bud
>First Point
Decent idea
>Second Point
If you mean what I think you mean, shit idea, should have been higher age rating, had nudity and violence, and spent less money on it.
Sodastream has deposited 5 shekels into your account
They did a good job with Batou, he's always been underdeveloped in other media. Showing how he gets the eyes was a great move.
>all those asian-americans complaining about white washing and saying it's racist on letterboxd
oh for fuck's sake, why do i even go to that site
