I'm so tired of this charade. "The Economy" just means "rich people's wealth". Apparently when you actually look at mental health, income versus living expenses, death rates, food insecurity, and other actual human-oriented things, the US is doing horribly. But I totally believe it. 1 in 4 kids don't get enough to eat. That's INSANE since we throw out 30-40% of food.
This isn't about democrats versus republicans. Both of those parties are just about keeping rich people rich. Money is evil, power is evil and this world is a corrupt place because of both.
Suffering can't me measured easily, so it doesn't factor in to our "success KPIs" as a country.
Easton Wright
>that pic >posted from a 1200 dollar iphone, ordered via an expensive faggy macbook.
Aiden Campbell
What's the solution? As in, what will get people to start guillotining the rich again? I mean, that seems like the only solution, and it's obvious it will be organized on the internet. But how do we get started?
Elijah Wood
So people with money can't empathize with or have sympathy for those who don't? Or do you just have no empathy and thus think everyone is like you?
Wyatt Flores
Its a people problem not a government problem
Thomas Davis
The government is the people. People are all that exist; government exists only as a concept. But are you saying that the idea of government is perfect, and that people's behavior, all unrelated to the government has to change? Wouldn't that involve...governing them? If so then why hasn't this flawless government been able to govern its people?
Justin Harris
>This isn't about democrats versus republicans
Yes, it is. The competitive nature that seems to permeate everything that happens in the US is at the root of A LOT of the country's problems. Things like homelessness and poverty, or environmental issues, or the distribution of wealth have become political topics; when something becomes a political topic, it immediately divides people and at that point, finger pointing and insult-throwing begins.
People love to argue about nonsense. The more nonsense you give them to argue about, the easier it becomes to skew an issue to fit your own narrative. The more you tailor the issues to fit a narrative, the easier a time you have either receiving or keeping power. We're all being played by people making power plays and they're using very real issues to do so. We just keep falling for it, time and again.
I think a lot of people out there really do care about the actual issues. But I also think its way too easy to start viewing something as being "on the other side" as well. And that mentality, the 'us vs. them' mentality is part of what's keeping the country divided and in the poor state it's in. Once we remember we're under the same roof here, I think things WILL get better. But I have no idea what that's going to take.
Jacob Watson
I wish I had an overall solution, but I don't think that there is one that would be enforcable or "actionable"
As said, it's a people problem and each person has to solve it for themselves. But in general, you have to *escape* the system.
How? One way to do that is to live smaller. People overspend and put themselves in a financially bad position, creating dependence on the system.
Also, save and invest smartly. Capital means freedom, so more capital means more freedom, more options, and an easier escape.
Once you get your income in line with your living costs, you're halfway there.
Then it's just working and hanging in there to escape forever.
Oliver Allen
So the solution to exit capitalism is to be a good capitalist? Ok boomer
Connor Sanders
So we have to rid people of this mentality. A solution is to put all our efforts into legalizing psychedelics, so that all the people perpetuating this cycle can finally wake up. I think there's no faster way to change people's minds - I mean look at what LSD did in the 1960s.
Levi Barnes
No. People are able to differentiate poor because of low income and "poor" because of inability to budget and live within their means. I'm poor and I have ZERO sympathy for people who make more money than me and bitch about being poor when I know they have cable TV with big screen, game consoles, have Starbucks every morning and drop $50 a week on weed. Fuck you. If you regularly are wearing the latest fashion designer brands your not poor you're just a moron.
Carson Howard
Agreed.
OP Picture really means that they need to change their choices on money handling.
Sebastian Martin
I think the solution is education, not attacks, on them; they don't know better. The public school system in this US has been gutted and manipulated by big businesses for a long time now. Most public schools are severely lacking in funding for basic education. Money is pumped into sports because it's profitable only. If we fixed the education system, or educated people with PSAs and such, that'd really help I think.
Jaxson Harris
Like I said, it's a tough thing to grapple with. And this is the only thing that I've seen that actually works.
Open to suggestions, obviously. Do you have a better idea?
Lincoln Garcia
>late stage capitalism No such thing exists. This is corporate capitalism, mixed with government favoritism and manipulation through regulation which is lobbied for and favors conglomerates over small businesses and young people attempting to venture into trading. Capitalism by it’s very nature requires minimal government intervention, anything else is a mixed economy and fails to be Capitalism. This is Socially Democratic Market Corporatism at best. Stop being an autistic faggot.
Kayden Perry
>This is Socially Democratic Market Corporatism at best. I call it LSC, but honestly, I don't care WHAT anyone calls it. Pointless debate there.
But we can all agree it's a problem. My interest is solely to talk about what to do about it.
Obviously. The other way is responsible for 100 million deaths by their own people in the last century.
Christopher Hughes
Lol. Thats ALL they do. "Isn't someone gonna help?". As long as it isn't you. "I'm making people aware" Like people don't know. Funny how the rich folks bleeting on their Twitter and instagram accounts about the poor aren't selling their Porsche or their summer home to feed and house the poor. Don't try to shame me into some shit you aren't willing to do.
>repeal citizens united >antitrust legislation >term limits >campaign finance reform just my two cents
Dominic Butler
Thanks. What can I as an individual do to make things happen? Do I have to be marking during protests and yelling into a microphone? Because I could do that.
Thanks, I'm trying to figure out what we have to do as individuals to get the change we want to see to actually take place.
Jose Morris
This isn't true at all. No one in the U.S. need go without food. Anyone who is hungry is so because they've chosen to be a piece of shit and not accept the help that exists.
Quit fucking lying to further an agenda, you goddamn piece of shit.
> autistic screed > Stop being an autistic faggot.
Gavin Morris
You have to own something to really benefit from a booming economy. Whether that’s property, a business, or stocks.
Christopher Green
I think what he was trying to say is that this issue isn't caused by Dems or Republicans solely.
Other than that, 100% agree. People are so brainwashed by the left vs right meme that they cannot even fathom sitting around a table to find real world solutions to real world problems if it would mean working together with someone if the "opposite side". I honestly don't know how to solve this issue. There currently is too much hate to reason with it. People have to realize that we are NOT each other's enemies.
Wyatt Stewart
well I'm doing great. trump's done more for me than I could ever imagine, and I didn't vote for the fag. his tax policy has really been a boon for me. so stop whining :) If you weren't smart enough to have investments, that's your fault LOL (money earning money!)
The great irony is that trump's tax plan utterly fucks his retard base. It's given a trillion+ to the Coastal Liberal Elite in kickbacks/tax breaks, I don't know why liberals want him gone...
Fair enough. But Late Stage Capitalism is a communist term, as it implies that this is the natural course of Capitalism as an economic system, when LSC occurs as a result of artificial interference from government in areas that are unnecessary. >t. Faggot
Jacob Lewis
LSC punishes blue states (multiple-trillion-dollar earnings per annum) by taxing them and giving their money to indebted, worthless red states. republicans are the ultimate socialists, who in the face of everything that smacks of hypocrisy and irony then turn around and call their benefactors "socialists".
disgusting. red states have got to start building their own economies. Texas is the only successful red in America. republicans have decimated their states, fiscally.
Brandon Garcia
Kill all the negros!
Carter Hill
Blacks are out-earning white trash in the Midwest and south.
White trash simply won't work. Won't get educations. They're just utter filth.
Justin Scott
Like that faggot Ghandi said, be the change you wish to see in the world. Educate yourself. Egage in political discussion in a contructive manner, not the boilerplate divide and conquer party bullshit. You know what to do, user. Post sinks.
I would venture to say that maybe it's because once blacks outnumber whites in any school or workplace, whites are made so miserable that they can't function. Get enough blacks in positions of power at any workplace and whites don't even get hired. Get enough blacks in positions of power at any school and there is no recourse to deal with the constant disruptions and violence committed against you.
William Parker
>Money is evil, power is evil and this world is a corrupt place because of both. Don't have any of either, eh?
>I would venture to say that maybe it's because once blacks outnumber whites in any school or workplace, whites are made so miserable that they can't function. I wonder if this works the same for blacks when they are in the minority? It would explain a lot.
Christian Fisher
Trump's policies are unfair and biased towards those with more money. Of course you're not complaining if you're the person the policies are biased towards. That's like someone in the 19th century saying "I don't see what the big deal is with slavery because I don't own slaves" but yet you're the one benefiting from slavery.
No, he's right. 1 in 4 go hungry. The 1 is the white child because in this country, they won't help you if you are a family living together or otherwise married, etc. They will not give you assistance if the father lives in the home.
So basically, you only get assistance if you are a fat black gorilla bitch who has never had a job and never will. If you're black in this country you get your HOUSING paid for, THEY WILL BUY YOU A CAR
THEY WILL GIVE YOU MONEY FOR EACH CHILD EVERY YEAR FOR DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
THEY WILL PAY FOR YOUR FOOD (hot Cheetos and hamburger helper all day baybee)
They will literally GIVE them health insurance so they can go stage a car accident and get free pills so they can sell them on the street
And black bitches steal practically everything they have or otherwise buy stolen shit at a fraction of the cost.. That's the problem
Chase Johnson
babbys first red pill
Caleb Smith
I'm one of the few liberals who will vote for Trump in 2020. His base is fired up, he won't be impeached, and most of this board/the youth in America will vote for him (Sup Forums was fired up in 2015!!)
Ayden Brooks
Is that supposed to be an argument? LOL
Luke Stewart
Don’t have kids you can’t afford? Get a trade? Get certified in SOMETHING? Start a small business? Join the military or something. It’s weird bc when college didn’t work out bc of debt I just joined a trade and make six figures now. If that didn’t work out I would have tried applying to the military or got some certifications in something else. People who aren’t lazy and retarded do well for themselves. Stop being a pussy who doesn’t wanna get his hands dirty to make fistfuls of cash and bennies.
Xavier Torres
Smart user. Dissatisfaction with the system will free us. I'm proud of you for realizing the political illusion is just that - an illusion
You've broken free whereas so many cannot. Welcome to reality ^^
Nicholas Long
Nonsense op.
People are idiots and can't budget, hero dark I'm starving, spends all money on processed junk food.
Rice, beans, eggs, frozen veges, chicken drum sticks, cheap orange juice, some spices n sauces you can eat well for $30 a week.
No one is poor in the west.
Gabriel Powell
$230 in the US :-P
Bentley Hill
I like this user
Nathan Bell
he makes a good argument
Jayden Edwards
Do not whine about injustice. The people you refer to are slaves of the state. They are victims, not perpetrators. They are your brothers and sisters and need your help. Work hard, be proud, and lead by example. Oh, and post sinks. Nice sinks.
Why are they idiots though? Because the public school system, which was gutted by big businesses, is working as intended? To make people spend money and go into debt? You seem so closed-minded.
Isaiah Powell
It feels great when you participate in capitalism rather than sit on the sidelines boohooing. Look at who makes good money and go get qualified for doing that job. I did that 11 years ago and got into utilities. Now I'm making six figures and I browse b all day. I'm going to die a millionaire and the stock gains are a good thing. Nigger.
Anthony Nelson
Of course - the one you're replying to has no defense so he's just deflecting by lashing out.
Aiden Watson
Decision making, and how people deal with their shitty decisions play a part on this as well. If you’re making $30k/yr and you’re married, dont have six fucking kids. Don’t fall for the trades meme. Don’t drop out. Don’t watch tv. Don’t go out every week. It’s not hard to not be stupid.
Asher Jackson
Low IQs and laziness
There is no excuse. Food stamps in the USA are more then enough. They are adults, not babies.
Google cheap food, Google how too survive on food stamps. It's not fucking hard.
Blake Ramirez
Where does all that money come from though? The hard work of laborers paid less than you. Don't pretend you're not guilty.
You can't tell people to get their shit together when their hierarchy of needs isn't being met. They can't do better because they don't know better and they're in a terrible situation. Not to mention all the generational trauma that they have to deal with.
Landon Parker
Okay, what about someone who's disabled and doesn't know anyone who can help them apply for disability, and they live in a food desert?
Gavin Mitchell
poorfag envy
Charles Nelson
Unfortunately, making pragmatic decisions just isn't enough for a large portion of people. The system is obviously flawed.
Cameron Howard
It's self reported homo. These people are the ones who go score a bag of meth on the first of the month and are eating water cereal and the end of the month.
Ayden Morales
It is if you're really, really stupid.
Dominic Morales
OR GET A JOB FAG even a disabled retarded can type!
Eli Turner
In many school districts a personal finance class is already a requirement. Throwing money at a problem isn't a solution to people being irresponsible. Its not rocket science to know that if you make $800 a month and your rent is $600 a month it might not be in your best interest to drop $200 on a pair of sneakers.
What's not helping is people getting bailouts after being irresponsible. Stuff like wiping away student debt. I can easily go along with putting caps on interest because that's the shit that buries people and its nonsense that people end up paying as much in interest as principle. But to hand wave it away entirely just punishes those who sacrificed and struggled to pay it off and further rewards deadbeat and irresponsible behavior,
Jackson Walker
Left you don't need too work too live well.
Just go to a doctor, say you are depressed , take the prescription but don't fill am.
Keep missing work, keep going to doctor saying dam pills don't work.
Eventually get diagnosed untreatable depression, get social security, public housing and food stamps, never work again.
Yeah your poor but who cares.
Capitalism requires at least 20% of the population to be in relative poverty too keep a kid on inflation.
Live on rice n beans and other simple food, grow your own weed, drink cheap wine, game, post to Sup Forums, fuck, walk around. Fuck it.
Working is a choice for materialists a good 50% of the population are not materialists.
With robotics, automation and outsourcing , this is the standard life of 20% of the population and nothing to feel guilty about.
The poor are needed for the economy too work.
Brody Edwards
>caps on interest OI VEY
Logan Lee
Sounds like Keith Lowell Jensen needs a better fucking job. Kek
If you’re in America you have access to food, water, shelter, and even wifi at every street corner. Needs met. Unless you’re a hobo you literally can’t complain about anything unless you’re complaining about the consequences of your poor decisions.
Camden Diaz
As if the coastal liberal elite are liberal in the economic sense that Democrats were before Clinton. They're only spooked because things have gotten so out of balance that the rule of law is eroding.
Christopher Cook
The average American has $175,510 in savings. If you're at or above this number, you should be well on your way to retirement.
If you can't scrape $800 together, you're basically homeless.
Zachary Morgan
well i'm extremely fiscally-conservative. in fact I think we should do away with entitlements. other than that, I don't like spending trillions on the military, we have good gear. And we give so much to Israel and other incompetent nations. Time to say NO. Republicans are cucked by the jew.
Ayden Butler
You poor bitch me and the wife pull in 1k a week each. It isnt millions but we can afford sweet luxuries, because of wise spending and saving. Niether of us went to college, but holy shit do those kids whine. Fuck off and work harder.
Christian Carter
:'(
Cameron Reyes
lol not even 100k per annum BEFORE taxes, what luxuries are you referring to!?
Cameron Stewart
Isnt the government made up of people?
Leo Thomas
I'm OP and my wife and I make more than you. Not sure why you thought you could assume that about me.
Zachary Gomez
>you have access to food, water, shelter, and even wifi at every street corner lol wut?
the economy is shit, only reason the loud and obnoxious trump supporters keep bragging about it is because they are to poor and stupid to know any better
>both of those parties are just about keeping rich people rich
lol, democrats cater to the poor.not the rich
Nolan Hernandez
>theres no excuse for people to go hungry >poverty is merely a lie perpetrated by the Democrats to make religious conservatives feel guilty that we don't give to charity
Adam Reed
>1k a week each Look out, we got a billionaire bad-ass over here!! lol
then there's the myth of depression, "oh I can't work, I'm too depressed!"
no, you're lazy. I suppose it may happen to women during/after pregnancies.
Lincoln Davis
If your a fellow murican, check out Andrew yang. He covers this sort of lack of caring for the average person, and is the only candidate who’s truly forward thinking
Jose Rogers
oh suck off you fag you want welfare. no dignity!
Matthew James
>literally free food being handed out to the poor >ummm actually sweaty that's not how it works
It's not so much this argument that pisses me of as the fact that there are literally millions of people who believe it, vote against their own interests and are the absolute laughing stock of the people they are keeping in power.
That or...oh, Strasvoutsye Komrade! You almost had me.
*you know I really meant "Shalom"
Ian Adams
Hunger and homelessness. The last gilded age was ended by the great depression. But as long as Uncle Sugar is willing to backstop the financial sector that won't happen.
Christopher Jenkins
A suffering country, where even the poorest have $200 kicks and a smartphone and access to food 24/7.
