Why do Americans still use drywall to build their houses?
Is it true that you guys can't smoke inside without deteriorating the value?
Why do Americans still use drywall to build their houses?
Americans build big houses. Drywall is cheap and durable. If someone punches a hole in a wall it can be patched in 15 minutes very easily but generally drywall requires no maintenance whatsever. Because it is cheap and installation is very quick, massive homes in America can be built quickly and cheaply and Americans can use that money on exotic tiles and granite counter tops outdoor/indoor swimming pools, three car garages etc etc. Even the stonework on the outside of most modern American houses is a thin veneer these days. I think it's an ugly trend but again people would rather save money on that and use it on different luxories. I've done contracting and I've worked on the new 'ultralight' drywall homes, and I've worked on old stone farmhouses alike. I don't think there's anything wrong with drywall, especially for inner partition walls. It's pretty stupid to use brick, morter, stone, or solid wood on inner partition walls
> smoking inside
fucking disgusting
Why would you use anything but drywall for internal partition? Do Mexicans seriously need a brick and mortar wall separating one bedroom from the other or the living room from the kitchen?
>Smoving inside
Most modern educated people don't smoke cigarettes. In America cigs are generally for poor, trashy, uneducated laborers and single mothers.
Men will smoke cigars but not in their own homes usually. Cigars usually are for outdoor hobbies.. golfing, fishing trips, country club bar patio dinners, etc
>smoking inside
Even if you're smoking weed or some shit you should do that outside. Your guests WILL fucking smell it. All smoke lingers anywhere.
>american purchasing power
Honestly, I would prefer brick-and-mortar interior walls. Dry wall is so cheap and thin that sound insulation is terrible. I can hear everything going on in the next room. This is particularly annoying in cheap American apartment complexes, where you can hear all of your neighbors - talking on the phone, sneezing, rapping along to the radio, etc...
I once visited some family in Wales, and they live in a farmhouse built in the 1600s. The walls are made of big rocks. Each wall is about 12 inches thick. It was great.
Because adobe is for Mexipoors.
degenerates smoke inside
Brick and mortar should be used to separate one dwelling from the other in semi-detached and town houses. But there's no need for them within a dwelling. If you're bothered by the noises your parents and siblings make you're probably too old and should move out anyway.
>smoking in your house
>thanks for the lung cancer, dad
This. American houses are disgusting, microclimate is shit and you have to always rely on mechanical, while brick wall wor as thermal mass. But most americans wil never experience how is it to live in properly build houses
That's just poor insulation, not the actual drywall. People skip out insulating the interior walls because it's cheaper, but it leaves a lot lacking for soundproofing if you don't do it.
>smoke inside
A nasty, filthy habit. Inside or out.
*mechanical devices
gypsum is also better than anything else we have right now for slowing/stopping fires, given the price point homes are expected to sell at.
the next best materials are plastics which have to be mounted on steel.
unrelated questions are unrelated.
or i suppose aluminum?
not politics
sage, report, and ignore
This. Most flame retardants in polystyrene are toxic if they are there at all. Some sort of glass wool or pumice void inclusion synthetic rock thing might appear one day for the insulation benefits IDK.
My Lord...is the JIDF even trying anymore?
fuck off, kike, with your forum sliding
thread reported
Drywall is used because like everything in this country is all about cheap and fast to maximize profit. Ameritards, especially the women don't know or care and willing sign up for years of debt servitude for a cheap pile of sticks slapped together by illegal labor. It's the american dream desu.
What's wrong with drywall? It's inexpensive and lasts for ages as long as it doesn't get wet.
Even if it does get wet or something it's cheap and easy to patch or replace. Sound-proofing isn't and issue when insulation is used, which is only necessary for interior walls if it's an apartment building or duplex.
only if your interior is drywall
>smoking inside
>not giving a fuck about your pets or children
It's easy to understand just how illness crippled conquistadors decimated the entirety of ancient peoples living in the Americas based on this alone. No regard for anything other than yourselves.
I like drywall, it's customizable.
I always find it amazing that a pickup truck can tear your fucking houses down to their foundations kek
Also, you build these houses in hurricane regions, which is another level of stupid.
I do grant you that you can build much faster and that your method is cheaper, though.
its something we do in all first world countries
stop being mad because you dont have the technology to make something out of a material that is not readily available in nature e.g stick and rocks
Sound isolation for one.
Nah, it's disgusting.
Gets in the carpet, furniture, etc.
Unless you live in a non-porous metal house with no fabrics, shit's going to smell like smoke.
We use insulation in the attic to repel heat. And double layered windows
Plaster FTW.
All the benefits of stone without the added weight on your foundation.
>its something we do in all first world countries
Speak for yourself. I'm currently sitting in a room surrounded by proper walls on all four sides. The apartment was built in 2013.
Just stay away from spray foam. Their have been cases of it being toxic.
you dont think plaster adds weight?
>mfw amerishits use full room carpets
I've been house flipping in Calgary since '91.
You can absolutely cover up the smell of smoking. You do have to repaint and replace the carpets, but it's completely possible.
i said first world countries, didnt mention anything about mongolians
>american
>think
Pick one
Totally unrelated, why do you guys cover all of your fucking walls in rugs?
I don't understand. Is this the secret to a "properly build house"?
Do you think it weighs as much as brick or stone?
Reading comprehension, get yourself some.
>Having children
>Caring about pets
Yes, we do. It had its hayday in the 70s-80s. I hope the trend dies out
>smoking
>at all
How's that Mexican healthcare system? No seriously. Can I just go down there and buy whatever pharmaceutical I want?
ok sverige
You are thinking of Cuba, or Latin America
>Drywall
fucking mrucans, this is how we do it here in Austria, at least where I live.
Wood and tile in mine.
Wall to wall carpet is fucking retarded.
...
> be american
> buy house for 500k dollars
> its made of cardboard, gypsum and nailed roofing
kek
They use drywall/plasterboard in new houses in england now and its fucking disgusting. The workmanship in general on new housing estates is terrible nothing can beat the fully bricked houses they made after the war, just a shame most are terraced.
That's great and all but we like to remodel houses when we buy them.
Good luck knocking out a wall in that thing.
>sound isolation
>tfw no money for insulation
Most houses use insulation to solve that problem
Some more real walls
We do the same here. I hate modern houses. I like double brick houses and old stone houses.
Stone or double brick has better insulation during summer to keep the house cool. Gyprock houses carry sound everywhere -- no privacy with paper-thin walls. It is like living in an Ikea showroom.
Usually carpet is basic. Then lenolium?
Real wood and tiles are an upgrade.
I service a mansion. Nothing but marble floors. Crazy
My walls are like concrete or something impossible to punch through.
...
>insulation
You think Finnish houses aren't insulated lol?
>Do Mexicans seriously need a brick and mortar wall separating one bedroom from the other or the living room from the kitchen?
trust me, they do
>Ameritards
Says the American
Look there's a lot of stupid real estate out there, just because you live in America doesn't mean you have to pay 200,000$ on 1,00sf trailer home. You could easily buy average for a fraction of that and build a home to suit your needs, with whatever material you want. If you want to be a suburban cuck with barely any backyard, scrunched up next to your neighbor with drywall all over the place (nothing wrong with drywall) or a city cuck spending 100 grand on a Beltway condo, it's your choice.
That's the beauty of America, bud.
>not putting carpets on the wall
>living in a house
>not living in a comfy commie block
How can drywalls even support the roof?
Never lived in a Victorian house.
currently remodeling my 1940's house, as much as a pain it is knocking down walls every new wall I have built I used bricks. it is a better job and every tradesman you talk to will say the same.
This is why I will never buy a home. I rather by a camper or some cheap rv.
Japan, outta nowhere...
What about your own kids, retard?
Or if your folks retire and have to move back in? You do care about your blood relatives, right?
Lath and plaster aren't better
I've pulled up enough carpet and seen the Golgotha that lies underneath to ever do that to my house.
I live in an old brick house. Real wood floors, ceramic tile in the kitchen. Plaster interior walls.
Stays comfy.
>smoking inside
Timber frame supports the roof not the walls.
>sound isolation
>says the fins have insulation
>tfw I'm finished
God dammit this.
My business is renovating homes.
Internal load bearing brick walls are a massive pain in the arse. Plaster stud walls are simply more practical and economic and allow a place to be changed with its capital growth.
In Europe a brick pig sty will always be a brick pig sty until the day you find someone dumb enough (probably a new money Brit) who'll buy it and live in it.
As for Mexico you cunts don't even bother moving the pigs out of the sty first you just move in and start cooking among them
Like most things American, everything we own is big and flashy. That includes our houses, too.
The modern Amerilard does not know the meaning of "moderation". We have more real estate than we know what to do with it.
But hey, it barely beats being a europoor living in a commieblock.
Support beems. Aluminum or wood s used for framing. Then sheet rock is nailed or screwed to it.
Replacing plumbing or adding new wiring to a lath and plaster house (much less a brick wall house) must be a nightmare.
Have you never seen a truck drive through a Brock house? Literary the same amount of damageexcept the brick house is more costly and time consuming to repair. The exterior walls are covered with plywood and 16" center stud framing. A brick wall isn't any better. If your house is built of cinder blocks you'll be better if solid stone you are fucked because it'll screw up the structural integrity and it will be insanely expensive to repair.
Wooden frame. Even brick houses these days (if they are single brick) use a wooden frame with wall-ties to hold up the brick. The brick is just a skin.
Double brick is more durable, however. I would only build double brick or stone when I plan on my house.
It doesn't.
They're called studs and I'm not talking about the guy who services your wife.
This is why you're in trouble meatball. Your MGTOW shit only goes so far and can only be an excuse for so long. Just admit no woman would ever choose you as a mating partner and go prep the bull.
It's your national duty. I'll stay here having more children.
Only muslims treat pets like tools, so, I'm going to assume you're a shitskin. Gross.
>Gyprock houses carry sound everywhere
Oh that's why everything echos. My dad's always bragging about the quality construction of our place.
huh? It's hard brick throughout.
Muzzles hate animals.
I knew a muzzie, he got pets for his sister all the time when she got bored with them they would just let it loose in the park. Cats, hamsters, rabbits, birds it's crazy I never understood it I could never give up my pets
2x6" constuction with stucco exterior, closed-cell spray foam insulation and drywall interior has a better R value than stone/mortar, which is like 8 or something terrible like that.
It's about efficiency. We use central air here.
That text below the pic, Top fucking kek.
I hope someone posted that to the BLM group.
...
When I built my walls I insulated even the interior partition walls. My house is dead quiet and its drywall. I'm thinking about installing an intercom system because it's so hard to tell to someone whose on another floor inside of a room or whatever.
.
Hahahahahahahahaha
..
America bringing the noise.
>>>>>>>>>>>smoking
Isn't that Ceausescu and his wife?
It's a copy pasta from that black lady standing in front of the two police officers.
yes they have shit basics
Ive heard that spray foam is toxic. As an a/c tech, I advice against it. fiberglass insulation is fine.
>Or if your folks retire and have to move back in?
What? How about not being a pleb and having a retirement plan that enables you to have your own place or pay for a nice retirement home?
