Memories of Murder

The Chaser

The Handmaiden

Yellow Sea

The Yellow Sea

A New World
Vengeance Trilogy (Oldboy, Mr Vengeance, Lady V..)
A Tale of Two Sisters

Train to Busan if you're not tired of zombies yet. Even if you are, it's fun.

HURR DURR KINO AM I RIGHT KINO MUH KINO SO KINO EPIC MINO MUH KINO I'M A KINO FAGGOT SO KINO MUH KINO MEME DURRRRRR KINO KINO KINO KINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Dirty Carnival

are you okay?

He didn't even say kino you spastic.

I've seen OP's, memories, chaser, and handmaiden and I think OP's is the best overall. I hated how dull the Memories of Murder ending was. I know not everything has a happy ending but it irritated me so much. best part of Handmaiden was the cinematography, I don't really like gay movies. I haven't seen Oldboy in a long time so I can't compare them. But yeah, devil is probably my favorite.

Some good ones already named

The Man From Nowhere
The Good, the Bad, the Weird
The Host
Snowpiercer (in English, but Korean director and I think it was first released in South Korea before coming to the US)

>Particular revenge/thriller kino as that seems to be what they do best
learn to read, retard

And that triggered you?

Yep, you're a spastic.

Thanks all, downloading the yellow sea and memories of murder now. Seen a few of the others but quite a few I haven't already

:^)

>My Sassy Girl not mentioned

Sup Forums is pleb as hell

>Particular revenge/thriller kino

I didn't expect the thread to pick up this much. There's no harm in throwing out general suggestions :)

>99% of recommendations are pre-2010
Do you watch anything fresh faggots?
>The treacherous
>Tinker tricker
>Late autumn
>Eungyuo
>Pandora
>Coin Locker Girl
>No mercy

>coin locker girl
Really enjoyed this

It was good and fresh but I had kinda mixed feelings about it.

I was probably quite forgiving as frankly I've been starved of good crime films. Koreans seem to be the only ones still making them

Train to Busan is a really good korean zombie movie.

true, but i guess even the korean cinema goes towards hollywood trash- vide: the suspect

It is. Check out Seoul Station. Its hard to compare but its worth watching

Not well versed in Korean movies, but The Man From Nowhere was great (as some other anons have mentioned).

Is their zombie movie any good?

>I hated how dull the Memories of Murder ending was

No way, it was amazing.

He reckoned he could tell if someone was guilty by looking into their eyes, and in real life the killer was never caught, so he looks into the audience.

That's nuts.

Train to Busan is surprisingly quite good. But you need to start with low expectations

>I hated how dull the Memories of Murder ending was.
I feel you. MoM was shit
> I don't really like gay movies.
>lesbians
>gay movie
How much faggot are you?

I watched Eungyo. I didn't like the ending
WHY DID SHE FUG THE YOUNG DUDE??? THAT WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF NOWHERE. NOT THAT IT MAKES SENSE FOR HER TO FUG THE OLD GUY BUT THAT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE

are you being sarcastic or what? It did make a sense from her point of view and it didnt from his. It was quite simple love story.

This wasn't a great movie compared to some of the others posted here, but I quite liked it. Song Kang Ho is always watchable, and the female lead is qt as fuck.

Pretty much all of Wong Kar-Wai's stuff

some shitty list made by Sup Forums

my digger

Opinions on The Thirst. I think it was great and The Wailing was a dirt and lousy copy of it.

Kino or porno?

Devil is shit movie

bump this shit

>I hated how dull the Memories of Murder ending was
end your life

That actress, Kim Ok-Bin, is my waifu. Both movies are great, the Wailing has nothing in common with Thirst. Nothing at all. To call it a copy is retarded.

>black comedy based on a supernatural force
no. nothing in common because wailing was a fucking failure. Thirst was almost a kino. Also that ending.

Thriller: the chaser
Zombies: train to busan
Feels: Hope

A Tale of Two Sisters tries to do two twist endings at the same time, and fails because of it.

The Wailing was just shitty overall, with its overly-complicated plot and moronic characters. "The ghost woman was evil all along and the Jap was good! j/k, you had it right the first time . The Jap is a demon!"

I Saw the Devil, The Chaser, and The Wailing make South Korean police look like complete retards. There's incompetence and then there's stupidity so severe that a movie's plot can't stand on its own without it.

What the fuck was the point of Snowpiercer? "Life sucks on this train for the lower class, so let's kill almost EVERYBODY and live in the freezing cold!" I'd rather have a meh life on the train than be dead.

whoa whoa whoa. Keep your dirty hands off Showpiercer, ok?

Why not both?

my nigger

>A Tale of Two Sisters tries to do two twist endings at the same time, and fails because of it.

Wrong. It had 3 twists. All done brilliantly.
1, The little sister was dead
2, The evil stepmom wasn't evil, because
3, It was all in her head. The entire movie is just her and her Dad coping with the loss of her Mother and Sister, which the girl blames ion the Stepmom

Most people don't get the 3rd twist, and it's why they don't get it.

They are also good at melodrama, comedy, soft core porn, and costume period.

>Wrong. It had 3 twists. All done brilliantly.

You know what, I forgot about the little sister twist. All I remembered was the "it was all in her head" twist and the "it was all real" twist. Using both was fucking stupid. The little sister twist was only icing on the shit-script cake.

All of the supernatural shit was just a delusion, BUT the step-mother was attacked by a spooky ghost, meaning that it was real all along. Either go with one twist or the other. Combining both makes me not give a shit about the story.

The father cop guy in The wailing is a guy I recently recognized in the last three movies.
He looks like a bad guy always and the wailing is the first time I saw him playing a good guy

>The father cop guy in The wailing is a guy I recently recognized in the last three movies.
>He looks like a bad guy always and the wailing is the first time I saw him playing a good guy

He was probably the most incompetent, cowardly and idiotic cop I have ever seen depicted in a non-comedic film. He also got his family and himself killed for no reason. Calling him a "good guy" is a stretch.

Watch it again knowing that only the Dad and girl are in the house. It's fucking sad. You think the Dad's a dick for allowing it to happen, when in reality he's going mental because his daughter is having a nervous breakdown.

Shit's poetic. Probably my favourite Korean movie bar Memories Of Murder.

The Man from Nowhere - sad but not as sad as I Saw the Devil

New World - This was fun yet serious with great characters and a neat ending

A Bittersweet Life - The ending is a bit wishy washy but a good revenge flick, less fleshing out of the characters than New World

koreans are dogs

Who else thinks that Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring was an utter shit

Ajeossi, go fucking watch it.

Ddongpari also.

Snowpiercer is his take on gnosticism and how society will have to progress to survive, we have to go sideways instead of blindly rushing towards the front of the train, that's just a trap

I've only seen three Korean movies
Barking dogs never bite
Snowpiercer
The quiet family
I'd watch them all again

And Brotherhood of war
Which was really good

I love korean movies, but thats the only movie during which i fell asleep after 10 minuts

There's some stuff that seems to always make me drowsy, about twenty to thirty minutes into every Shakespeare I've ever seen on stage I always want to drop off for that ten minute period, and frisky dingo too, every time

So I actually would like to buy these korean crime movies on bluray, with eng subs. But I dont seem to find them anywhere. Does anyone know any online store where I could order the directly?

>Barking dogs never bite
I thought this was hilarious.

>The biggest kmovie disapppointment
Attack the gas station. I watched it recently for the first time and it was seriously outdated

Great Chinese movie called The Message (2009). It's a whodunnit/mystery spy thriller.

I ordered most of mine from Amazon.

bump

the ending of memories of murder was the best part, shit was soul crushing

Depiction of that retard killed this movie for me

A hard day
imdb.com/title/tt3697626/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_13

It was such a fun movie

t.puta madre
I really don't get why people keep sucking of "the man from nowhere". No tears for the dead is better in every way.

>the man from nowhere is knife porno
>No tears for the dead is gun porno
My vote goes to No tears for the dead. That car scene

This guy gets it. Some fantastic camera work as well. Ex the truck ramming and the bloody elevator fadeout with lit up city night at the background.

Oldschool balls out action. If you like one/two against many this is one to check out.

If we are going into old school:
>Die bad
>Guns and talks

bump

this very much

Any of you watch anything that isn't an edgy bloody movie.

me but thats the general idea behind korean movies

>Adam Wingard is making the I saw the devil burger remake

for horror, watch "The Priests"
Haemoo 2014 / Sea Fog is disturbing too
Helpless is another messed up one

tell me you are lying

That isn't true at all. People here and reddit just don't like anything else.

nope it's "announced" at least on imdb

For fuck sake. Dont they have any decency

Except for some edgy shit there isnt much to watch desu

ATTACK THE GAS STATION

my captcha was 'Select all images with a gas station.' funnily enough

more like murder horror

am i the only on to consider this a shit

I disagree, but again I like a little bit of everything.

Me to, but you must admit that without bloody movies korean cinema wouldnt have become so popular

idk I never head of most of these movies till the essential Korean film list got posted. I started with romance movies like Married to the mafia series and went on from there.

so you arent a victim of the Oldboy meme?

My understanding is that South Korean police really are that fucking terrible.

He does make good stuff though, it'll probably be pretty good.

Some stuff that doesn't always get mentioned
A hard day
New world
Whistle blower (not standard Korean revenge thriller but very good)
Inside men
A dirty carnival
The thieves (more comedy than thriller)
Veteran
The Berlin file

And Going by the Book isn't a revenge thriller but is the peak of koreakino

confession of murder

imdb.com/title/tt2468774/?ref_=nv_sr_1

koreans really know how to make a good thriller

>He does make good stuff though, it'll probably be pretty good.
yeah like the new oldboy. it was fucking fantastic

No, I honestly only seen it recently and already knew the ending. I also kinda hate those type of ending every since pic related.
