You build nothing, you create nothing, you're just moving virtuality into more virtuality. Anything computer and technology related should be a hobby at best and never considered a job.
Do as your ancestors did, be a smith or a farmer.
Well, if you get borderline okay (and I do mean just oaky) you will always be able to find work.

I've been in the profession for 11 years. It's unfulfilling and it encourages a sedentary lifestyle.
Unless you have a project in mind that you want to make, just walk away from it. Only sadness ahead. Sure, the money is nice, but you can do just as well as a plumber or electrician.
Do something with your body. Do something physical.
You are better off selling stuff on eBay if you want to make any money out of the web.
>not majoring in EE.
i work as a software dev and many guys also go to the gym
so it's a sedentary job, but doesn't really stop you from doing some physical on your free time
Building websites is not computer science.
People think "full stack" and "software engineering" is computer science. It's not.

>Why is computer science a meme?
Computer science isn't a meme, it's just that there's a lot of low quality CS degrees where you spend years not really learning anything of value
>I'm teaching myself to build websites starting with html, css and javascript....

Website making isn't computer science, mate.
That's like kindergarten level stuff.

How do you feel about network administration?
>html, css
>computer science

this.
low-level programmers make a metric shitton of money.
then again the work is mostly boring, and you really have to be into programming / have a lot of know-how to land a job like that.
...
that's the thing: you have to make free time to keep your basic health, in a job that basically demands all your time.
Hey I did code academy, it's literally an academy, if they say I'm qualified then I am :^)
Oh I'm sorry, did you want me to be more technical? Scripting languages and markup languages all fall under programming languages.
Go noob somewhere else, fag.
web dev moves way too fast because everybody's trying to make the next big thing.
regular html/css/javascript is completely outdated. Now you need Reactjs/Redux/es2016/webkit/less-script and like a billion dependencies.
It never ends.
Stop being a faggot and do networking
>Getting a degree in physics
>Getting a job
Unapplied science is fucking useless, if there's no end product how the fuck do you think you'll get paid.
This. Especially not webdev garbage.
well with network administration you don't have the retard users depending on the structure of the business.
Usually you deal with slightly retarded IT-admins, although there are some special snowflakes out there that know FUCK ALL, and pretend they know to configure and maintain anything.
You gotta know a lot about Cisco / Juniper though. And that shit is mostly CLI, although they both have web-interfaces, but those are for retards.
I only have run-ins with people who know their shit, because I work in a datacenter, got incredibly lucky by being offered an internship, after which I was hired. It's a pretty lewd job, you don't get the whiny users, most of the time you deal with knowledgable IT sysadmins whose network went down and want some out-of-band access they forgot to plan.
This is true in every field. Frameworks are what companies want to see. They are not impressed by you writing your own XML parser. They want to see that you know how to use Saxon and extend it if needs-be.
Shit pisses me off. NodeJS and npm are so flooded with dependencies, I don't ever see that shit making it into production environments outside of silicon Valley startups.
When your platform needs a specific extra module to do something simple like copy a file, you're doing it wrong.

making web pages is computer "science" ...
>kill me
If you just want to start making webpages, you can just start learning on your own, the shit is basically made so any retard can do it.
JS is "complicated" I guess for a non programmer, and annoying as hell for a programmer.
>I ain't touching web design, because that's what it is
when it comes to erm "checking the security" on web pages on the other hand hehe
Nah dude real computer science drives you to machinelearning and shit like that, researching on whatever topic you specialize in. I know schools varies a lot from here and over there, but this should still be valid.
(((They))) are really trying to dumb down the unis here now as fuck too, so they can push all retards through a masters course.
>Yay everyone has a masters degree, now it's worthless. Especially since the level had to be dragged down to haul through retards.
This is happening as we speak.
you arent even doing computer science, but what you are doing is actually worth shit, unlike cs degree
cs degree is worthless waste of time and money. anyone can learn to program, all cs is is "durr muh algorithmz"
cs is the womens studies of STEM
This. Web-dev bullshit isn't CS.
Look at the degrees from reasonably reputable universities... At MIT and Georgia tech, 5/8s of the departmental course requirements are Math (Calculus and Probability) and Electrical Engineering
Is IS a good major anons? Doing IS right now, I hope I will make good money, but this isn't very invigorating at all right now, I feel like I might kill myself if this is my future. Not literally of course, but it feels like it. I have never been into CS/IS stuff, it feels soul sucking.

Learn as many languages as you can, but be proficient in ones with the highest market availability. Java tops the list.
Butthurt because all you did was web faggotry rather then learning a proper systems language and getting a CS degree?
Calling webfags programmers is like calling lego builders construction engineers. You're the noob.

>Why is computer science a meme?
Y'know all those jobs your high school councilors and college recruiters told you about that would be lined up upon graduating?
They're not there.
An indian fuck who can't speak the language and literally codes by googling shit and going to forums to ask for help will get the job 9 times out of 10 instead of you because he's cheaper. Ignore the fact that you are more productive and don't ruin projects because you can actually code - you won't get the job. Indians who '''''graduate'''' from STEM mills are preferred because MUH DIVERSITY and the fact that you will want an actual wage.
The Comp Sci market is a joke right now, employers go out of their way to make up nonsensical requirements (I've seen at least three places that wanted "2+ years" experience in coding with a language that's either internal or was released 8 months prior) in order to justify bringing in H1B niggers so they can keep wages depressed.
Trump dropped the ball BIGTIME when he switched his position on H1B workers.
>Proofs

I haven't met a network engineer yet that was like "damn I should have been a systems engineer, coder, etc."
He's technically correct, you sound like someone from /dpt/ who jerks off over C even though you only know how to fizzbuzz.
Just fucking sit down and wait. I guarantee you'll leave in a few days.
Don't dedicate all of your time to your classes that are simply rehearsed bullshit to teach you fundamentals if you already understand them.
Spend the most of your time on project classes that force you to expose yourself to frameworks to meet deliverable deadlines. Requirements documentation, subversion, task allocation (agile development) are what companies love to see.
They couldn't give a fuck how cool that compiler you wrote was.
>Indian gets hired
>shit work doesn't do anything
>Company hires white guy to fix it for more
Computer science is a meme, because what you are doing now isn't computer science.
So many go into computer science thinking they'll make websites and shit - and get overwhelmed. They learn nothing of what people actually want from programmers etc, and much of it can be learned on your own.
well network engineer beats sysadmin.
Not having to deal with endusers is really the big plus in my opinion.
> being C#/Java whore

You're technically a non white country.
>websites
>computer science
So I got the terminology mixed up I guess.
Well i've put too much time into it to just quit. I want to make this into something since I'm an anxiety ridden beta fag who can't even get a real job, so something like this would be paramount to my having some sort of success.
I'm getting the hang of basic javascript as its taught in the EJ Media beginners series on Youtube. From there, I will probably go to J Query and then possibly PHP. In what field is there web developer field is there opportunity for big money?
> just bitching because I feel I'm superior
> not understanding that programming is programming
> not realizing I'm not defending WebDev as Computer Science
Are you really that threatened by WebDevs? I'm not even a WebDev, I program actual software and game engines.
I'm just intelligent enough to know when some skills are shared between professions. And I'm intelligent enough to that "programming languages," is a blanket term.
Something you apparently didn't learn while getting YOUR Computer Science degree.
Kek. What a fag.
> t. Muslim Country
CS is fine as a background for programming, do people think stockbrokers walk around every day thinking that econ101 prepared them for their real job? Just make sure you program a shitton and get an internship.
People meme-ing on js are 10 years late to the party.
You're talking logic. That's not how the vast majority of companies work.
>I'm teaching myself to build websites starting with html, css and javascript....
Why ?
Just get good at design and U.I / C.M.S
All you need to do then is google specific code.
>just graduated with a computer science degree this summer
What should I do, other than kill self.
I'm trying to come up with a plan allowing me to be neet forever.
Talking about your country?
but im a cripple so a sedentary job is the best for me
I was never able to get a job with React/Rails knowledge; I had a github and full-fledged SPAs and no one cared. Honestly, it's a pretty over-saturated field that'll only hire overqualified people. I broke into IT and Project Management and am happy with where I ended up.
>markup languages fall under programming
>If you care any about learning the actual stuff you must only use c because that's what wannabe programmers says on Sup Forums
Nice trips.
But C has a niche market in EE fields. You'll be getting paid less for a specialized skill, and you're if you're replaced, you're not going to find a new job any time soon. That and your ability to find more competitive compensation is significantly lower. You're more employable if you know languages that have strong framework development.
>muh agile

Oh look, a Brazilian without a job.
>I'm teaching myself to build websites starting with html, css and javascript....
that's nice, but that isn't computer science.
Go for engineering
You'll have a handle on hardware as well and I swear fucking companies just love that extra word "engineer" along with a P.Eng certificate compared to "another fucking code monkey"
>always having to worry about how you can best market your meme skills instead of what makes you most competent

I have 40+ papers about dynamical systems, son. THAT's real Computer Science.

One is for pretty pages, the other is for delivering that pretty page.
after that you get the real technical things below L7 that actually matter.
learn the difference.
>Muh unemployment
Hate or love it, everyone does Agile. Do you want to work or do you want to impress other NEETs on Sup Forums with your reluctance to understand a retardedly simple development pattern?
>You build nothing, you create nothing
Some of today's most complex systems, especially manufacturing systems, are run by computers.
this. C++ is getting real hot again these days, a lot of parallellisation, fucking lamda expressions, auto/var parameters etcetcetc
I still hate that they haven't scrapped templates, and just made it cleaner and easier.
You end up writing a lot in header files these days, to make shit generic.
The C#/java class Jalla : where T System.IO.WhatEver
Yeah I don't mean to introduce garbage collecting and stupid object etc in a fast pure mem native compiled code.
Just wish they would think of making templates cleaner, it's to much shit to write.
Also why not make it fucking functional an drop the retarded {} and ; it's not the 80ies anymoar
But it is my mother tongue, looking forward to c++17.
In CS you also deal with alot of shit more advanced than just programming. Imaeprocessing, machine learning, computer buildup, making processors(in theory), PLC shit.........
I went eng->cs (only one place to go civil eng here, worked at the same time so no) so tons of maths and eng stuff, sensors, physics, robots, automation cool shit as fuck really.
>Now (((they))) are going to destroy it

In the UK, tonnes of companies accept graduates regardless of degree discipline (i.e. if you wanted to go work for an investment bank or one of the Big4, you don't need to have an accountancy or business degree - you can get in with a fucking BA in history if your uni is good enough). However, these places put a premium on numerate degrees or those with 'quantitative' skillsets. As such, degrees like physics and maths etc. are at the top of the tree for HR departments.
This dude could have been earning six figures as a quant in a bank somewhere if he had the requisite programming skills or even doing audit for KPMG or whatever as the recruit year round. Basically, there's something we're not being told if he was working in a call centre.
You won't accomplish much with just html css and js. It's a start, but you need to master it and develop further to either .net or python. Most data driven websites or applications are written in those languages because it can be developed quickly and audited quickly on industrial security standards. Hope you can deal with the reality of having womyn managers not understanding your role or the job pressure, and punishing you for whatever reason they consider inconvenient.
