I strongly doubt that. It seems that Mike brought the one from the original car home as to not bring attention about it. And Mike popped the battery out with ease and put it back in to test how it dies. Seems like something you could do pretty fast in the cover of night in a car. Still don't understand why they left with it.

Because the tracker has a battery readout and they would see it go from full charge to 0% in a second and know he unplugged it. This way it looks like they just got a defective battery that died really fast

I just kind of forgot to keep watching it somewhere in season 2. It became a lawyer show, about lawyer stuff. I can't think of anything more boring than courtroom scenes and scenes about staying up all night doing paperwork to prepare for a case, not to mention we've seen that done a billion times. Courtroom drama sucks.
