What went wrong?

What went wrong?

Pure marketing, team in poor form and not a lot of players in major clubs, American youth football system hasn't produced much worth yet.

white Murcians stopped playing and instead you got mercenary chicanolards and murrimutt goblinos like DeAndre Yedlin with no American spirit

MLS being allowed to control our national team. Picking garbage American MLS players and thinking they will play just as well as euro club Americans was retarded and continues to be retarded.

Creaturas were our best players. Dempsey, Yedlin, Fabian Johnson, Jermaine Jones etc

>mercenary chicanolards
...we barely even have Chicanolards in the national team. In fact, we lost Jonathan Gonzalez to your team.
>murimutt goblinos like DeAndre Yedlin with no American spirit.
That doesn't even make sense. Yedlin, Brooks, Johnson, and Jermaine Jones - the "murimutts" you're referring to - were/are some of our best players.

Not putting enough funding into the Christian Pulisic cloning program.

Thyme and Tomatoes

how can we get our mexifriends to support the usmnt

No one in this country gives a fuck about this sport.

Millions of American children play little league soccer like it's a right of passage, but once you hit your teens, you're encouraged to move on to a "real" sport, like football or basketball.
This leads to shit tier youth development, where all of our best athletes are being attracted to other sports.
Until we can break the stigma of soccer as a sissy sport for women and children, our player output is going to fucking suck.

Youre pretty much out of your god damn mind if you don't agree with this sentiment. You cant blame muh mls and muh academies though Im sure they dont help matters when theyre being fed fifth-tier material to work with. Making anything else the major cause of blame is disingenuous.

they changed from the GOAT badge to the mediocre shit in OP's pic, desu.

Even if the kid likes soccer, the parents themselves force the kid to move to a more lucrative sport. So the elite athletes drop out, and even the second tier athletes move to sports where university scholarships are more available. It's been like this for decades. The recent concussions from headers thing doesn't help matters.

Seriously, giving high school and NCAA men's soccer love would help. As it stand NCAA soccer goes by a 3-month season. My alma mater only has a women's soccer team.

MLS is improving (with foreign players), which is good. Growing interest in soccer in the forms of Premier League, La Liga, and Bundesliga in the USA is good. But that's not going to mean shit for the USMNT if soccer does not have the youth development pipeline infrastructure that basketball and football have and it's going to take a decade-long cultural overhaul to make that feasible.

MLS is a cancer and >we should be focusing on sending our best players to Yurop ASAP instead of having them waste away on My Little Sawker (((clubs))).

Dempsey is unironically white.

>What went wrong?

$$$, 'nuff said.

Our best players already are going to Yurop. The problem is because of how low a priority our best athletes give soccer, we're producing few soccer athletes that can compete in the best leagues. Pulisic was a fluke, because his parents both played professionally and kept him in the sport throughout his youth and enrolled him in Dortmund's academy at 15. There's a good reason very few American players, in any, that play in Europe are entirely home-grown.

nothing, it's achieving exactly what a 5th rate sport played mostly by women and children would achieve

Our spics and niggers don't play soccer.

Why can't the US throw money at people who wants soccer?

That user is wrong. We have all the money in the world to invest is soccer. The problem is that investment won't do any good with the cultural apathy we have toward the sport. What that $$$ needs to be invested in is marketing that shows the American people soccer isn't just a sport for women and children.

Too busy making money for the social club of bankers and businessmen who want to own soccer teams here so that they can spend it on hookers and cocaine. They don't care about the sport, they just want to profit from it. The result is that our highest level of soccer is a completely plastic league that brings money to the owners at the direct expense of quality of play.

>muh plastic
cringe

This is why we need pro-rel.

agreed

Thing is NOW is the time to be pushing MLS. You have all the controversy that the NFL is going through (both political/racial shit but also the fucking concussions) and you don't see them trying to make a move. I unironically believe MLS should have bought ad time during the superbowl.

Hello, what is the US city that

pro-rel would be devastating for the relegated clubs

It's a buzzwordy adjective, but the only one that can really describe the feeling of being at an MLS event. With the exception of Atlanta (I'm an AU fan and their games are legitimately fun and interesting), you cannot watch an MLS game without a very genuine feeling that you are watching an entire league try very hard to look like something it isn't so that people will give it money.

Agreed, but it's not going to happen at any point in the foreseeable future, especially now that the USSF have proven themselves to be utterly disinterested in making good things happen, unless one of two things happen. Either the USSF has to be itself completely overhauled, or we need a new federation that will actually handle things the way they should be. And both of those options have an infinitessimal chance of actually happening.

Good, that's the point.

According to the Euros I see on Sup Forums, Tripoli and Tribongo.

>I unironically believe MLS should have bought ad time during the superbowl.

That would've interplayed great with the World Cup ads that were playing throughout the Super Bowl. Fuck.

We'll be Canada in 10 years. Making the World Cup is good enough for those in charge. Keeps the money coming in. Nothing more than that. Good thing the field is being expanded.

Nah. The US lacks actual youth development in the teams in the league. Since the teams are franchises, there really isn't cheap youth development that carries on during the teen years. Around the world, the football clubs continue nurturing kids beyond school and identify those who with talent in simple terms. The US sport system revolves around drafting talent from university, and from there filter to a small number of professional teams unlike around the world. Football players hone their skills from a young age and continue perfecting it throughout their teenage years until the go professional. In the US, any youth development is hindered by cost unless the kid is super talented enough to be given a scholarship. The closest sport to resemble football is basketball, in that the non-rich are able to pick up a ball and hone their skills to be able to be identified by universities and then eventually the pros.

Tl;dr the US sport system is flawed from the get go in football compared to the world but works for its more popular sports.

poor management. all the fans were pissed when they didn't even take Donovan with them the last time, and then they did terrible.

um what?

we should field more technical players playing in eruope and hire one of those serie a managers that play boring as shit but get results

The whole MLS system is flawled. No relegations, salary caps, that confederation stuff...

All the good players are in the NBA and NFL

>we should field more technical players playing in eruope
That will trigger the Doyles who think mls players are good enough to play.

this except.
>Until we can break the stigma of soccer as a sissy sport for women and children, our player output is going to fucking suck.
Its not a stigma it's the truth. Once you take the redpill there is no walking away. See you on the ice friendo.

Furpuck is for faggots tbqhwy

I've never had an echo disagree with me, before.
