I drilled a hole into some wood unfortunately the drillbit was too large for the dowel rod i intended to hammer in. I'm thinking of using sawdust and wood glue to fill the gap around it (only like a mm around) as i dont have any fake wood. Think this will work?

I think so, as long as you won't ever have to removed the dowel rod.

Thankfully the dowel rod needs to be glued in place but with the other one it was drilled extremely tight so it could stay in by friction if needed. Just not so sure how the glue will bond. Any alternatives you can think off if it doesnt work? Redrill is not an option, nor is bigger dowel.
