It's fine, and at least he puts some effort into production instead of just having voice over gameplay.

avgn is great, but mike matei is lame, annoying, and tries too hard to be like James

I think his content would be better if he started doing some "newer" games. The ps1 and ps2 and n64 are old as fuck now. About as old as the games he started reviewing back when he started.

Mike still has J&MM which does fairly okay for a lets play show in 2019 which is a dying fad. That is basically Mikes show since James is nearly asleep during those.

Literally the only good gaming YouTuber as of today. Hate that I have to say this, but it's true. Most other reviewers have lost their charm or gone off the deep end (NormalBoots gang in particular) while most let's players simply aren't that funny (used to love VanossGaming but lost interest after he stopped playing Gmod sandbox).

I really appreciate how much effort he puts into his videos, and they have that low budget film school charm, but unfortunately I found him too late. I would have laughed at his stuff when I was 12 or 13, but not now.

I still like it. Spawn was kind of a weak episode but honestly I liked it better than Immortals. Everyone one may appreciate his dedication to "muh artistic challenge" but ultimately it just for a weaker video.

I loved his debut when he was using popular songs as intro for his video game reviews.

It peaked when he made his Angry Video Game Nerd movie who was a little bit too random for my taste.

After that he had a wife and kid and he looked a lot less like the hopeless virgin gamer he once was. Does he really like playing video games as much as before or is he growing out of the videogaming scene and becoming a real adult like everyone else?

Things went downward at this point. The hardcore fans seemed like bigger looser compared to him and he even had a phase where he would show little drawings of his fans like he was proud of them or something. It was kind of sad.
