So this is where we disagree, to me only the individual and what the individual deems worthy is important everything else is tertiary at best, for me personally this is because human life is too fragile, I cannot be sure that any given moment in the future a circumstance that will cause me to die will not occur, so I'd rather do what I want and not what the collective wants, lest I die feeling that my life was unfulfilled.
