"Below are some tips for tweeting while you watch the show:
You must include the hashtag #QandA (don't use @QandA or reply to our account) in your tweet so that it appears in the stream that Q&A monitors for broadcast. Copy and paste this hashtag into every tweet about the show.
Be succinct and relevant. Our onscreen graphics can only fit 115 characters. People are reading thousands of tweets during the show, so it helps if you can make your point quickly. Stay on topic and be timely as the subject of discussion can also change very quickly.
Don’t use links, images, emojis or unnecessary characters in your tweets. Retweets and tweets quoting tweets will not get through our filters for possible broadcast.
Unfortunately, due to the dynamic and the duration of the program, many of your tweets will not be broadcast. Please don’t be discouraged. Keep trying each week and remember a lot of people on Twitter will see your tweet.
Check out what other people tweet. Click on the hashtag #QandA to see the stream of discussion. Engage, interact, be nice and have fun with all of the other Q&A fans on Twitter.
We can’t possibly read all of the tweets during an episode of Q&A, so we catch a random selection of what has been written. We don’t promise to choose “the best” tweets to use onscreen, but we do promise to do our best to show a small selection of tweets to inform, challenge and entertain our broader audience.
Here is what we look for when we dip into the
#QandA Twitter stream:
Tweets that are witty and entertaining
Tweets that add a fresh perspective to the debate
Tweets that make a point without getting personal
Tweets that are bold, articulate and civil"
