Fallout: New Vegas thread

Fallout: New Vegas thread.

Favorite endings? Reasons why?

Doing a 4th play-through, been about 2.5 years since my last, might try something different.

Anyone else hate the whole White Plains / "Tribal Indians" DLC area?

Mr. House, because he is the most certain future and actually has a plan. His government does not have the potential for corruption or degradation, he isn't seeking to enslave or directly harm anyone. Excluding the brotherhood of steel, who are assholes on the west coast.

I actually liked the Honest Hearts DLC, I thought Joshua was a very well written and voice acted character. But the area could be a bit bland

I like the quest where you get eggs for that bitch in The Thorn and then fertilize her eggs with your thorn.

tbh tho id rather fuck a thicc deathclaw with huge jugs, like any true man.

Heh, that's the route I went the first time for rather similar reasons, it seemed the most logical path if I cared about the world moving into a successful future.

Yeah, democracy seems like a good idea, but anyone who has gone to a Denny's at 2:00am knows that not everyone should be able to contribute to decisions that affect the country

Honest Hearts gives you the most magnificent fucking gun in the game, you watch your pleb tongue.

Haha, fair enough. Though breakfast food sounds really damn good right now (3am local).

I'll give you that, it's one badass gun and you don't have to bankrupt yourself.

I see your point. But Mr. House is very much letting corruption and degrading happen on his very own lawn so I have to disagree.
He is also merely a man, a genious, like big time, with a vision and a plan, but still he's just one man. His vision isn't absolute and neither is his end game. He lets the corruption happen, and doesn't intervene with the property of the local gangs nor does he enforce any laws except the economy, which is basically the same as any othergang leader's: DON'T FUCK WITH MR. HOUSE.
He also says one thing and acts totally different, he is diseiving, manipulating, calculating and he is not afraid to use lethal power to anyone who doesn't agree with his visions. He also speaks mighty low of the only other major factor of the control of Mojave, NCR, and its leaders. While not perfect by a long shot, NCR is already established goverment which has stable economy and people have rights to own, move, trade and they as well as their belongings are protected by constitution and the law is enforced by the citizens of NCR. This doesn't show at Mojave, because its the outskirts of the NCR territory, but NCR is the biggest growing and the most stable economy of the west coast, and House's little whore house is going to get taken down eventually.
So on the conclusion here, no matter how much I despise many aspects of modern democracy, NCR wins for me (I always play Yesman) because it's the voice of the mass and it's the only major faction that doesn't tolerate slavery, cannibalism, murder, human trafficking, bribery and so on. All these things are still happening inside the NCR controled territories and individuals of NCR might have very different views on the subjects, but still, they are only faction which at least on the paper fights for the freedom of the people and to end these common cruelties of the wasteland.

But I can see how Mr. House will leave you feeling like he is the savior and the only vision of the future, that's what he thinks

I think the NCR as a whole is the best choice after time they’ll bring stability to new Vegas and help develop it further Mr house could wipe anyone out if he chose to and holds to much power and the legion will completely fall apart when ceased dies

My preferred choice is always pulling the plug on Mr House and ruling New Vegas myself.

Not that it's practical, or that I imagine my character would make a good leader (if they're anything like me, they wouldn't), it just makes the most logical sense to me in the context of the story. You spend most of the game being used by one party or another, and so to end the story on the same note it started (coasting along as the tool of someone with greater machinations) seems like an unsatisfactory character arc.

It's a pretty mundane ending in the game (practically a cop-out), but in my ending headcanon it's basically Scarface: I needlessly squander all the power I've ever earned, do a ton of drugs, and bang Mr House's Securitron slut in every room of his casino until eventually some crime lord sends a team to bring me down, and I go out in a blaze of glory.

Pretty much, it's funny how this is actually Ceasar's end game. He is chaotic evil just because, if it wasn't him there'd be someone else. He also very much knows he is bound to fail and all his comrades who are now riding the high wave will be eventually crushed and forced love off scraps or be inprisoned. He just doesn't give a shit and does it anyway. Actually funny how relevant the characters and the literature they have grown to is today, you got the western democracy, you got somewhat ultrafasist movement whose leader promises justice and glory to anyone who follows them, you got your drug gang run dictature (Mr. House) you even got some smaller political movements represented and working towards different goals.

I tend to play NCR for the reasons you stated, I did my last play-through and enjoyed it. As you said -- already established and at least appear honest.

Fuck California, I rather be owned by fucking robots or savages Or not at all.

I love how much you can get into this game, cause just like in real life, there's no a right choices, there's only those you make.

No Gods, No Masters
I'm a bit of an anrcholib

after that The House Always Wins
as a horror fix

the NCR and Legion endings are too middle ground to be satisfying

also
taking every perk relating to shotguns makes them amazingly versatile
they can be used as sniper rifles, grenade launchers, short range combat, and mid range combat

This, the survivalists rifle is one of the coolest and best weapons in all of fallout. And Joshua graham is fucking based and we’re blessed that this fictional character exists. But lonesome road is the best DLC overall

Also, wildcard ending all the way

>No
>A choices
God I should just turn on my computer

I live in Toquerville
so Honest Hearts brings the story close to home for me

Has anyone just supreme gentleman'd everyone? I mean ofc someone has but I always get bored middle way through.

Legion is obviously best for the long term of the region.

If Ceasar had a longer life expectancy or some heirs that would build on his legacy
after Ceasar dies the Legions gets taken over by a lunatic concerned only with power through violence

Fellow anarcholib here.
We would probably end up like ceasars legion tho.

Yeah see that's neat, but he himself states that he has no end game and the chaos and the destruction is enough of an end game for him. He's just there to balance the scale.

user Deathclawsbane, the courier we need.

the NCR had no real opposition
the Enclave was the closest, but they were a small group that had power bc of a near monopoly on technological advancement
same could be said of the BoS, but they were even smaller and by doctrine a shrinking organization
bc the NCR had no real opposition, they could use military might to force their ideology
with a Ceasar that could be reasoned with the Legion then becomes the opposition the NCR needs to start focusing on honest diplomacy instead of "do what we say or die" diplomacy
this can be seen in the fact that the NCR brokered an alliance with the Strip instead of militarily annexing it, leaving Goodsprings, Novac, and the casino town between Goodsprings and the NCR border station somewhat autonomous

Yup, in the end it just comes down to picking your poison.
And certainly there's a lot of examples where strong leader brings a lot more for the commoner than democracy could, but even those systems tend to have some sort of way to split the power down (1 party system, feodalism, roman empire had democratic senate, etc.).
NCR's carrot is just too good for a common folk, stability. It's really hard to beat that, even tho the degraiding of such system is just as unevitable as the other systems available.

Actually what you said about NCR working with the strip is really important point, on how we get to look at the NCR, compared to what their citizens might encounter in their every day life. NCR stands against everything that strip stands for, on paper, but given the distance between Mojave and NCR, the fear of strong enemy, NCR is ready to compromise on its principles and actually part takes said activities no problem, which shows the real perverse nature of the NCR and begs for the question why is NCR really occupying Mojave. They say it's to bring stability, law and order. They give themselves the right to march on which ever land they feel like claiming in the name of giving people safety and freedom, and most of the time they leave town's on the outskirts just as unsafe as before, but now they are under taxation. Meanwhile NCR uses military power to destroy opposing opinions and ideologies, no different than Mr. House or Ceasar, but they just call it democracy. So yeah, its kind of perverse.

Drink and gamble you dumbass who the fuck cares about the ending

Get rich. Activate VATS. Kill every fucking NPC you see. Grab their body parts and make fun little sex sculptures in the middle of the strip. Fun times.

No god no master
House Always Wins
NCR
.....that it fuck Ceasar bitch ass
