>Apple could potentially find the cash to pull off a $200 billion-plus takeover of Disney — creating a company worth $1 trillion with “almost limitless opportunities in content and technology.”
>“Recently, investors have increased their expectations that Apple could seriously consider acquiring Disney,” RBC analysts Steven Cahall and Leo Kulp wrote in the note.
>“Content is a major focus for Apple, target size is not an issue, and Disney offers an avenue to diversify away from hardware without diluting the strong Apple brand,” RBC’s Cahall and Kulp wrote.
>The M&A rumor mill got new grist last fall, when Apple chief Tim Cook told analysts that the tech giant was “open to acquisitions of any size.” In addition, Apple execs met with Time Warner honchos in late 2015 in a discussion that raised the possibility of a merger — before AT&T moved on its $85 billion bid for Time Warner.
>But would Apple shareholders support such a bet-the-company move? Assuming a 40% premium for Disney, the deal would carry a hefty $237 billion price tag. If Apple investors balk, Disney could consider spinning off assets like ESPN and theme parks to make the deal more palatable.

Disney makes a shitload of money every year. Buying them would be a good move for any company.

Apple's stock is in a bubble. Steep declining market share of iOS, and their computing platform is almost all but dead. Trashcan relaunch left them cash flow negative in that department.
The only profits they are making is from soft acquisitions and (ever declining) mobile sales.
Apple will not, and cannot take Disney as an acquisition. It's not fiscally viable; especially as a concern to shareholders.
Isaac Barnes
This will never happen.
Disney is fully aware that their brand is priceless.
They are worth far more the quadruple the stated net-worth on Google.
They are a dynasty that you can't even begin wrap your head around.
Lucas Rivera
>bruh this company makes mad money so its totes worth it to buy it!
and if revenues fall slightly short both Disney and Apple die horribly. Mergers on this scale are seldom a good idea.

Fucking kek no chance
Ian Russell
I don't really see what Apple could really do with Disney. Such an acquisition would be the biggest to date.
These companies don't really mold well though. One is a tech company interested in laptops and phones and the other is a multi-billion dollar media empire.
I'm a bit ignorant of how this sort of thing works but I assume the money would be taken from Apple's assets? The deal in that case would cost them 73.8% of what they're worth.
I really don't see this deal going ahead.

They could buy Nintendo. That would probably cost them around 3 billions and they woud get a lot of potential content.

Why is he naive? Apple's stock has been in a bubble for the last half a decade.
Declining market shares on there strongest product line (iOS devices). Cash flow negative since 2015 on their OSX mac pro re-release.
iTunes web traffic total from 7% in 2010, now just 3% in 2017. Declining user retention on all film/rentals subscriptions to competitor service Netflix.
Apples last soft acquisition was neural networks company Turi (200 million USD). It has gone belly up.
He isn't naive. Apple has 3 major revenue streams.
>Mobile devices >Computer hardware >Music and media subscriptions through their software platform
2 out of the 3 are in marginal losses to hostile competitors in their respective demographics.
He isn't naive.

Don't they have like half a trillion sitting under a mattress in Ireland? With Trump offering tax deals left and right, Apple could easily afford to buy Disney.
But this would be a bad deal for both. Apple may be struggling to expand its market, so needs to buy other companies, but Disney itself is also dependant on acquisitions, buying talent from Pixar, IPs from Lucasfilms and storylines from Marvel.
Joshua Hughes
Antitrust law isn't infallible. AT&T was notorious for many acquisitions that were more than borderline illegal. It took the FTC many years with the US AG to correct them mistakes.
As for today, look no further than pharmaceutical industry for proof the FTC doesn't have any real power.
Antitrust law wouldn't be the problem with Apple acquiring Disney. Apple itself is would be.
Henry Ward
The direction Apple's gone in with their computers is fucking annoying, as an illustrator I always used their laptops and they've always outperformed comparable Windows machines in every department.
Now they seem to be cutting out everything that made their machines excellent production tools - screens are all switching to shit-tier LED that doesn't display as much of the Adobe RGB gamut accurately, shit-tier graphics cards if they're even included at all, sluggish processors, maximum of 16GB RAM on most models in fucking 2017, no proper ports, etc etc. The only alternative is something running Windows 10, which I refuse to use, because a Linux machine won't support software I rely on for work every day.
Maybe I can use stock parts to make a decent Hackintosh for home use, but I'm fucked for a new laptop. I hate Tim Cook so much, the man has zero vision and clearly only wants to sell product to lowest-common-denominator consumers with no consideration for the old faithful whatsoever.
John Hughes
Apple realized the money is in retarded Americans that love getting fucked by their corporate masters. Apple is the only company that can proudly stand there and say "suck our fucking cocks you retards and buy our 700% marked up shit"
