I'm not making the case that the US is a paragon of virtue, but one country is the worlds superpower with the largest GDP and the other is mired in corruption and crime. We do have corruption like any other country, but it's not accepted as business as usual like in Mexico. We fight against it, we try to root it out and punish those involved. There is a different ethos in Mexico which is insidious and endemic. Unless and until that changes, Mexico will remain a magnet for corruption and crime.
