What else happened to Ylilauta? ANIME WAS ALSO BANNED!
Of course this is not all, the site now has upvotes, semi-forced accounts, activity points, tags, reddit-tier gold & platinum accounts etc.
And they also deleted the porn board on Ylilauta. There is no porn allowed ANYWHERE on the site except on the board for platinum accounts.

What happened to Ylilauta was a long time coming, it didn't have to do with porn banning directly. Rather the porn ban was just another facet of the staff's commercial view for Ylilauta. But you could have seen it coming since 2012, when Sopsy implemented their first mobile-oriented layout, then the gold accounts (also 2012 I believe) which were initially a fun minigame gimmick but soon enough were monetized, like system which came a few years later, etc, etc.
That won't happen on Sup Forums, because Hiro is not that retarded.

Ylilauta is also much easier to monetize. It was much more mainstream in Finland than Sup Forums is in the US even before all the big changes. More socially acceptable to use it as well.

There are several. The second biggest (Northpole) was actually owned by the same guy as Ylilauta, and was sort of its antithesis as it was based on quality content and well-thought out posts instead of inane shitposting and high PPH. It's now dead because it wasn't commercially viable.
There are some smaller boards like Nyymichan, Southpole, Apokalauta. Dunno if Thorlauta is still up but I went there like 6 years ago to get Laura Vanamo's nudes and it was actually quite active for a Tor board, lol.
Board cultures exist, you cannot compare some burger image board with a binland one.
